"They were nothing more than insects who didn't know their place, so I slaughtered them."
The words fell upon the city like a thunderbolt.
Everyone within the city heard them.
The old man's expression became stormy. He had lived for hundreds of years, yet he had never encountered such arrogance before.
His aura erupted.
In the next instant, he moved.
He vanished from Azrael's sight and reappeared to Azrael's left, throwing a thunderous punch toward his ribs.
Just as the punch was about to strike its target, Azrael twisted his body and effortlessly avoided the attack.
Then he drove his knee into the old man's face with tremendous force.
Crack!
The old man's nose shattered.
He immediately retreated at incredible speed.
With a wave of his hand, he summoned a black staff and raised it toward the sky.
The heavens darkened.
A massive black skull appeared above the old man's head, its hollow eye sockets glowing ominously.
He pointed the staff toward Azrael.
The skull lunged forward with its jaws wide open and swallowed Azrael whole.
From below, Gaia watched as the black skull devoured Azrael.
Yet her expression didn't change.
To her, Azrael remained an unfathomable existence.
There was no way a mere Spiritual King could kill him.
And, indeed, she was right.
The moment the black skull disappeared, Azrael reappeared in the sky.
His hands were clasped behind his back.
He calmly glanced at the old man before speaking.
"I wanted to see how powerful the cultivators of this era have become, and how far your techniques have developed."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"But in my opinion, nothing has changed."
A faint trace of disdain appeared in his voice.
"If anything, you're weaker than your ancestors."
Azrael then raised his index finger toward the heavens.
Suddenly, the spiritual energy within several kilometers began to tremble violently.
It surged toward him from every direction, gathering around his raised finger.
The sky gradually became covered with dark clouds.
At the same time, Azrael's raised finger began to glow with dazzling golden light.
Olivia, who was standing beside Gaia, immediately sensed the terrifying concentration of spiritual energy.
Her eyes widened.
"What kind of technique is that? I've never seen anything like it before."
Gaia heard Olivia's words but said nothing.
Her gaze remained fixed on Azrael without blinking.
For some reason, she had a feeling that what she was about to witness would be something beyond anything she had ever seen.
Meanwhile, the old man felt it.
A crushing aura of death and destruction had begun to surround him.
The hairs on his body stood on end.
Every instinct within him screamed a single warning.
Run.
If he remained here, there wouldn't even be a place left to bury him.
His very existence would be erased.
The old man immediately turned around and fled at his maximum speed.
But he had only traveled a few hundred meters when Azrael's voice reached his ears like deafening thunder.
"Old dog, no one will save you if I, Azrael Netherval, desire your death!"
The old man's pupils contracted.
Then Azrael continued, calmly uttering the name of his technique:
"Great Destruction Finger."
The moment Azrael finished pronouncing the technique's name, the clouds above began to move.
They formed a gigantic vortex directly above the fleeing old man.
Gaia and Olivia, standing above the palace, stared upward.
The humans below watched in terror.
Even the beasts within the nearby forest raised their heads.
Every living creature within several kilometers could see something descending from that enormous vortex.
Something unimaginably vast.
A gigantic golden human finger emerged from the swirling clouds.
It was one hundred meters wide.
Like a falling golden comet, it descended toward the old man with overwhelming might.
The old man suddenly stopped in midair.
His entire body trembled.
Slowly, he turned around.
He looked toward the heavens.
And then he saw it.
The enormous golden finger descending from the sky.
His face turned deathly pale.
His body froze completely.
He couldn't move.
For the first time in hundreds of years, the old man experienced absolute despair.
Before that overwhelming force, his resistance was meaningless.
The golden finger continued its descent.
And the entire world beneath it seemed to fall silent.
