When Miranda and her son Alex entered the dining hall, they found the Foyd family gathered around the table, along with two unfamiliar guests.
One of them was a woman of extraordinary beauty, with long crimson-red hair. It was Gaya, who was casually chatting with Lilian and Selena.
The other was a tall man standing nearly 195 centimeters in height. His long hair was as black as the night, while his eyes were crimson like fresh blood. His features were strikingly handsome, yet there was an indescribable majesty surrounding him.
It was Azrael.
At that moment, he was discussing something with Valer in a calm voice.
Miranda's eyes lingered on him for a few moments.
I've never seen a man this handsome in my entire life.
She quickly suppressed the thought and turned her attention toward her sister.
The moment Lilian noticed Miranda entering the room, she immediately stood up.
"Miranda!"
She walked toward her sister with a smile, but before she could say anything else, Miranda rushed forward and embraced her tightly.
Tears immediately welled up in Miranda's eyes.
Lilian understood at once.
Her sister had already heard what had happened the previous day.
"Don't worry. Everything is fine now," Lilian said softly, gently patting her sister's back.
Miranda continued holding her for several moments before finally letting go.
Then Selena stood up and walked toward her aunt.
The moment Miranda saw her, her expression changed completely.
"Selie!"
She rushed toward Selena and pulled her into a tight embrace.
"My poor little Selie!"
"Aunt Miranda..."
Selena smiled helplessly as her aunt squeezed her.
"You scared me to death! Do you have any idea how worried I was when I heard what happened?"
"I'm fine now," Selena reassured her.
"You'd better be!"
The scene quickly turned into a display of family affection.
After several minutes of emotional family drama, Miranda finally returned to her seat beside Lilian.
She immediately began asking questions.
"What exactly happened yesterday? And what was that terrifying voice that shook the entire city?"
Lilian then recounted everything that had happened.
She explained how Selena's convoy had been attacked, how Gaya had intervened, and then described the assassination attempt against herself.
When she reached the part concerning the terrifying roar that had spread across the city, Lilian subtly pointed toward Azrael.
"That roar..."
She hesitated for a moment.
"It was his."
Miranda's eyes widened.
"His?"
Lilian nodded.
"Azrael's."
Miranda unconsciously glanced toward him again.
The calm and composed man sitting beside the duke seemed completely different from the terrifying existence Lilian had just described.
Meanwhile, Alex had taken a seat beside his mother.
He was sitting directly opposite Gaya.
From the moment he sat down, his eyes repeatedly drifted toward her.
He tried several times to start a conversation.
"So, Miss Gaya..."
Gaya ignored him.
Alex wasn't discouraged.
He tried again.
"Are you from—"
No response.
Gaya continued speaking with Lilian and Selena as though he didn't exist.
Alex's pride was clearly wounded, but he refused to give up.
Then, without warning, he reached across the table, intending to take Gaya's hand.
"I don't believe we've properly introduced ourselves. My name is Alex—"
His hand had almost reached hers.
But at that very moment—
The atmosphere changed.
Azrael stopped speaking.
His expression darkened.
It was as though an invisible storm had suddenly gathered around him.
A black-and-crimson aura slowly began leaking from his body.
Rumble...
The table trembled.
Then the walls.
Then the entire palace.
The furniture began shaking violently as if an earthquake had suddenly struck the Foyd residence.
Everyone in the room froze.
Valer immediately looked toward Azrael.
Gaya also turned her head.
She knew that expression.
Azrael slowly raised his eyes.
His crimson gaze landed directly on Alex.
The instant their eyes met—
BOOM!
An overwhelming pressure descended upon Alex.
His body was instantly forced against his chair.
He couldn't move.
He couldn't even breathe properly.
His pupils contracted as an indescribable terror flooded his mind.
Then—
Blood began flowing from his seven orifices.
"Alex!"
Miranda's face turned deathly pale.
She immediately rose from her seat and hurried toward Azrael.
"Please! Forgive him!"
She bowed deeply.
"He didn't mean to offend you!"
Lilian quickly intervened as well.
"Please, Azrael. He's young and foolish. Please spare him."
Valer also stood and looked seriously at Azrael.
"Young friend, I ask you to show mercy."
Meanwhile, Gaya and Selena looked at Alex with barely concealed schadenfreude.
Selena, in particular, had never liked Alex.
After all, he was constantly pursuing her elder sister, Lunaria.
Seeing him suffer now gave Selena no sympathy whatsoever.
Azrael remained silent.
His crimson eyes continued staring at Alex.
For several seconds, the entire room was suffocating beneath his pressure.
Then he noticed Valer and Lilian pleading on Alex's behalf.
Azrael finally withdrew the pressure.
Whoosh!
Alex collapsed back into his chair, gasping desperately for air.
The blood around his mouth and nose made his condition look particularly miserable.
Azrael looked down at him.
His voice was cold and imposing.
"Child, this time I will spare you out of respect for the Duke, and because I am standing beneath the roof of the Foyd family. But..."
He paused.
The entire room fell silent.
Azrael's crimson eyes narrowed.
Then he continued in a voice devoid of warmth:
"Try it again, and no one will save you from my wrath."
