The following day, Azrael was seen walking through the gardens of the Foyd family estate alongside Gaya, Lilian, and Selena.
The garden was vast and beautiful, filled with trees, flowers, and rare plants. Gentle sunlight filtered through the branches, casting soft shadows over the stone pathway beneath their feet.
The three women chatted among themselves about various matters, from the events of the past few days to simple family affairs, while Azrael walked beside them in silence.
He was as silent as stone.
Yet inwardly, he was extremely annoyed.
He had not wanted to take a stroll in the first place.
He wanted to use every moment to increase his strength as quickly as possible and begin carrying out his future plans.
On top of that, there was still the matter of the Council Domain.
Azrael had surpassed the Spiritual Emperor Realm some time ago, which meant he was already capable of activating the Council Domain Card and entering the sealed domain.
However, he had deliberately waited until Gaya reached the Spiritual Emperor Realm because he had no intention of leaving her behind.
That was precisely why he felt this stroll was wasting precious time.
While the women continued talking, Azrael's mind was somewhere else entirely.
He was arranging his future plans one after another.
The Kingdom of Light...
The Infinite Races Guild...
The Heavenly Council...
The Council Domain...
And the entities sealed within it.
He had to become stronger.
Much stronger.
As he was immersed in his thoughts, Lilian's voice reached his ears.
"Azrael, may I ask you something?"
His train of thought paused for a moment.
Azrael looked at her, then nodded in agreement.
Lilian asked:
"Where are you from?"
The moment Gaya and Selena heard the question, they immediately became attentive.
Gaya in particular.
She had wanted to know more about Azrael for a long time.
Ever since she had met him, the man had been incredibly mysterious.
He never spoke about his past, his family, or where he had come from.
And whenever she tried to learn anything about him, she received only short and vague answers.
So she took advantage of the opportunity and waited for his answer with great interest.
Azrael, however, remained silent for several moments after hearing the question.
He thought about it briefly.
Then he simply answered:
"Everywhere."
The three women fell silent.
They stared at him in astonishment.
Everywhere?
How could a human being be from everywhere?
Everyone had to have a place they considered home.
A place where they were born.
A place where they grew up.
A place they belonged to.
Lilian raised her eyebrows and asked curiously:
"How can a person be from everywhere?"
Azrael answered indifferently:
"I have no family or homeland, so I consider the entire world my home."
Silence descended.
The three women stopped walking for a moment.
Azrael's expression did not change in the slightest.
He had spoken those words as though they were nothing more than an ordinary fact that was not worth dwelling upon.
But their impact on the three women was completely different.
Gaya's eyes reddened slightly, and she felt a lump form in her chest.
She knew nothing about Azrael's past, but his words made her realize that behind his calmness and mystery, there might be an extremely tragic story.
I have no family.
How many things could be hidden behind those simple words?
Gaya did not ask him anything further.
For the first time, she felt that there was a wound in Azrael's past that he might not want anyone to touch.
As for Lilian...
Her pain was entirely different.
Tears began gathering in her eyes.
What Azrael had said was not merely an answer to her.
To her, it was a judgment upon her future.
He had simply said that he had no family.
And there had been no sorrow in his voice.
No anger.
No hatred.
Not even disgust.
Nothing.
That was precisely what made it hurt so much.
If he had shown hatred toward his family, it would have meant that he still cared.
If he had shown anger, it would have meant that something still connected him to them.
Even disgust would have been better.
Because the existence of emotion meant the existence of concern.
And concern meant that perhaps, one day, forgiveness might still be possible.
But Azrael had shown nothing.
It was as though the Foyd family had never existed in his world.
As though they had become nothing more than a page he had erased from his life long ago.
And that made Lilian realize something terrifying:
Perhaps she could never get her son back.
Perhaps Victor had died in Azrael's heart many years ago.
Perhaps there was no longer any place for her within him.
Lilian pressed her lips together, trying to regain her composure so the others would not notice her tears.
She did not know that Azrael was watching her from the corner of his eye.
He did not understand why she had been affected so deeply, but he noticed her sorrow.
Nevertheless, he did not ask.
After several moments of silence, the group continued walking through the garden.
Azrael wanted to end this stroll as quickly as possible and return to his plans.
While Lilian struggled to compose herself, Azrael's calm voice suddenly rang out:
"Lady Foyd, we will be leaving at dawn tomorrow, so I thank you for hosting us in your home."
Lilian froze for a moment.
She raised her head and looked at him.
The sentence was extremely simple.
But to her, it sounded like an announcement that her son was leaving her once again.
The painful feeling she had tried to suppress returned.
He was leaving.
And once again...
Victor might disappear from her life before she could even tell him that she was his mother.
Gaya silently looked at Azrael.
She did not want to leave so soon, but she did not object.
She knew that Azrael never made decisions without reason.
Selena, who knew nothing about the true connection between Azrael and her family, quickly asked:
"You're leaving so soon?"
Azrael did not answer immediately.
His eyes turned toward the sky, as though they were piercing the horizon in search of something only he could see.
He had made his decision.
At dawn, he would leave.
And once he departed, he would return to his true path.
The path of power.
The path of uncovering the secrets of this world.
And the path of reclaiming everything he had once lost.
