The Message from the Great One
After the Great One, Bor, finished imparting his lesson to Gaia, the Sovereign Hall fell into a profound silence.
Then his enormous eye shifted toward Azrael.
His voice was less playful this time.
“Lord... this time, when I sensed the sign of the Ascension, I tore through the cosmic void from Millennium all the way to this domain to deliver an extremely important message to you.”
The moment Azrael heard those words, the faint smile disappeared from his face.
His expression became utterly serious.
“What happened in Millennium that forced you to tear through the cosmic void yourself just to deliver a message?”
He paused before adding, his gaze fixed upon the colossal eye:
“And why didn't you send the message through your incarnation?”
Gaia listened from the side. She was still frightened by Bor, but this time, she refused to let that fear stop her from listening.
A brief silence followed.
Then Bor's voice resounded.
“Another entity has ascended to Eternity in Millennium.”
BOOM!
The instant those words fell, the atmosphere within the hall changed completely.
The kings' auras erupted violently.
The pillars trembled.
Even Baran released his aura instinctively, causing the pillar beneath him to crack under the pressure of his existence.
Dozens of fractures spread across its surface, only to heal moments later as though they had never existed.
Azrael, however...
remained strangely calm.
His expression did not change.
Only his gaze grew deeper.
Then he asked:
“Did he overcome the Eternal Tribulation by himself?”
He paused.
“Or did someone assist him?”
Bor answered:
“When I sensed the summons of the Eternal Tribulation...”
His enormous eye remained motionless for a moment.
“...I launched a strike through space and time with the intention of extinguishing his spark before his ascension was complete.”
Silence.
“But two Eternals intervened to protect him.”
The expressions of the kings changed.
Bor continued:
“I managed to inflict severe injuries upon him, but he succeeded in reaching Eternity.”
Then he added in an almost frighteningly calm tone:
“But don't worry.”
A brief pause.
“He will not recover within a few million years.”
Gaia's breath caught.
Those words alone were enough to shatter her understanding of power.
A single strike through space and time.
It had not been aimed at some nearby location.
It had crossed the boundaries between eras and dimensions, targeting an entity who was on the verge of ascending to Eternity.
Had two Eternals not intervened...
that entity might have died before completing his ascension.
And yet, even after being protected by two beings of the same level, Bor had still managed to inflict injuries that would require millions of years to heal.
Gaia swallowed nervously.
If that was merely one strike from Bor...
Then how powerful is he at his full strength?
She unconsciously looked toward the colossal eye that still occupied a vast portion of the sky.
For the first time, she was no longer thinking about his size.
She was thinking about the kind of power required for an existence to use space and time themselves as nothing more than a path for delivering a single attack.
Azrael remained silent for several moments.
Then he asked:
“When did this happen?”
Bor replied:
“Not long ago.”
After a brief pause, he added:
“If I remember correctly... about five thousand years ago.”
Silence filled the hall.
Five thousand years.
To Gaia, that was an unimaginably long period.
But to these beings, who spoke of billions of years as though they were merely pages of history...
it was something entirely different.
Azrael raised his eyes toward Bor.
He said nothing.
Yet his gaze seemed to contain thoughts that no one could decipher.
Several minutes later, Bor's voice changed again.
“Lord.”
Azrael answered:
“Speak.”
Bor said:
“I must close the rift now.”
His tone became more serious.
“If one of the Eternals notices this connection, they may trace the thread of causality.”
The hall fell silent.
“And if that happens...”
Bor paused.
“...they may discover the domain.”
The expressions of the kings became solemn.
Even Gaia understood from Bor's tone that there were secrets that no outsider was ever meant to discover.
The enormous eye then shifted toward Baran.
Bor's tone became slightly more playful.
“Old Baran.”
Baran raised his head.
Bor continued:
“When we meet in person in the future...”
He gave a faint laugh.
“...let us drink together.”
Then he added:
“You, me, and those old fossils.”
For a second, silence filled the hall.
Then Baran burst into laughter.
“Hahahahaha! It's a deal!”
He shook his head.
“But don't you dare disappear for another three billion years.”
Several of the kings laughed.
Even Azrael's lips curved into a faint smile.
Gaia, however, remained silent.
Then the colossal eye began to close.
The moment it did...
the void trembled.
The enormous rift in the heavens began to heal.
The torn edges of space slowly fused together.
The stars returned to their rightful places.
Then the terrifying pressure that had weighed upon all existence began to disappear.
The flames returned to normal.
The ice became cold once more.
The water returned to its natural state.
The Laws of Existence stabilized.
And moments later...
the enormous eye vanished completely.
Everything returned to silence.
But Gaia could not erase what she had just witnessed from her mind.
She raised her head toward the sky, which had returned to normal.
She thought silently:
Even the Great One, Bor, was not here in his true body...
He was merely communicating through the void.
His true location is separated from this domain by distances that cannot even be imagined.
And yet, merely tearing through the void to establish contact had released a pressure powerful enough to nearly crush her existence.
She imagined, for a fleeting moment, Bor standing before her in his true form.
She shuddered.
What would happen to me then?
Would I turn to dust merely by standing before him?
But this time...
Gaia refused to let fear control her thoughts.
She clenched her fists.
Her eyes turned toward Azrael.
Then toward the kings who had lived for billions of years.
Finally, she remembered Bor's words.
“Never allow fear to steal your will.”
She took a deep breath.
And in that moment, Gaia made a silent decision.
She no longer wanted to be merely someone who stood behind Azrael.
She wanted to become strong enough...
to stand beside him, shoulder to shoulder.
