Never before had he had such a beautiful sleep; the dream last night was truly overwhelming. He indeed had a sister, and today he could really see his mother and talk to her. He'd lived for so many decades, thinking he was someone who had sprung from a crack in a stone, and this sudden feeling of having a mother was indescribably wonderful.

The woman and the middle-aged man had been at Kind Mother Mountain for more than ten days, waiting for ten days, and finally, the day to see her mother had arrived.

"Qing Er, you didn't do anything behind Dad's back yesterday, did you?"

The woman was questioned by the middle-aged man, who felt that her urging him to rest was a bit suspicious.

"What would I do behind your back, Dad? Qing Er went back with you yesterday, you know that."

The woman pretended to remain calm as she spoke.

If she mentioned meeting Tang Rao, the middle-aged man might get angry and even give his daughter a good talking-to.

"What do I know, I only know if you act recklessly, you'll ruin the entire Tang Family. As long as you didn't, that's enough; don't even think about it."

He was fairly satisfied with her response. As long as there were no problems, he wouldn't investigate further.

"Dad, the Heavenly Dao hasn't told us where the circle of light to see Mother is this year. If we want to see Mother, we can't do it without the circle of light."

If she hadn't asked, the middle-aged man would have forgotten to mention it.

In years past, to see their mother, they always had to receive divine instructions from the Heavenly Dao early to find out where the circle of light was and enter the center of Kind Mother Mountain through it.

Without the circle of light, no matter the divine skills, entering the mountain body was impossible.

"The Heavenly Dao hasn't said anything yet."

Based on past experiences, the Heavenly Dao would send someone to point out the circle of light's location ahead of the meeting time.

This year, oddly enough, no one came to inform them, and they had no idea where the circle of light was.

"So how can we see Mother?"

The woman had promised Tang Rao yesterday that he would see his mother today; if she broke her word, he would think she was toying with him.

"I will use a secret technique to ask the Heavenly Dao. Rest assured."

Not being able to see his beloved wife weighed as heavily on the middle-aged man as it did on the woman.

"Then it's all in your hands, Dad."

The woman bowed to the middle-aged man.

She fully believed he could handle everything.

The middle-aged man had never undertaken anything uncertain in years.

"How's it going, sis? What's the situation on your side? When can I see Mother?"

Tang Rao was eagerly watching the woman, wondering how to explain the current circumstances.

"There's been a hiccup, seeing Mother might take a little more time."

The woman thought it was best to tell the truth.

"Are you guys not able to see Mother either?"

This was a common problem, and Tang Rao was quite accustomed to the feeling of setbacks along the way.

"To see Mother, we need the circle of light from the Heavenly Dao. Without it, we can't enter the body of Kind Mother Mountain."

The woman explained to Tang Rao, implying they hadn't received the circle of light yet?

Usually, at this time, the Heavenly Dao would promptly deliver the circle of light, except this year it hadn't. The woman was unclear; was her father unable to see it too? They didn't want the father and daughter to see their mother at all.

No one expected the Heavenly Dao to be so high and mighty yet so petty.

"So, you need some kind of circle of light to enter the mountain? Is that what you mean?"

The anger from the Illusion City was palpable to the woman.

She hadn't wanted to say it, but with Tang Rao's smart mind, it was impossible to hide from him.

"Yes, Dad said he would use a secret technique to contact the Heavenly Dao, asking to open the circle of light so we can pass smoothly."

A circle of light for merely entering a mountain, it seemed unnecessarily complicated.

Tang Rao hated trouble the most, knowing he could see Mother today but had to wait for the circle of light. The Heavenly Dao's antics only made him detest this authoritarian power more.

"Little brother, let's just wait patiently. There's no benefit going against the Heavenly Dao, better to wait for good news from Dad. When we grow stronger, and can contend with the Heavenly Dao, we'll think about doing what we dare not do now."

As it stood, Tang Rao could only do as the woman suggested. The Heavenly Dao, this vast entity that couldn't be seen or touched yet monitored you constantly, was something even the naive Tang Rao realized he wasn't a match for.

"Sis, you keep close tabs on things and see when we can get the circle of light. I can't interfere with the affairs of you upstairs folks, it's beyond my reach, you understand."

You folks upstairs?

Tang Rao's words were slightly sarcastic, yet entirely truthful.

With his current status and position compared to his sister, his parents, and their power, the disparity was incomparable.

"Little brother, don't say such things. You used to be so outstanding. Even our father said the Tang Family was about to produce another talent. You mustn't belittle yourself."

The woman didn't want the man to demean himself, as he bore no resemblance to the Tang Rao of the past.

"The old me? Could you describe what I was like before? Tall, handsome, with many girls admiring me?"

Being praised by his sister, Tang Rao must have been extraordinary.

"Sort of."

The woman had never so informally described a man, not even her brother.

"So, I was that excellent before, likely more so than now. Despite being so excellent, the Heavenly Dao still schemed against me, making me suffer so much. I'll find a time to settle that score!"

A person shouldn't fight against heaven and earth, yet Tang Rao wanted to defy this logic. Since heaven turned him into what he was now and let him and his family endure hardships, why couldn't Tang Rao declare sovereignty over the Heavenly Dao and show it that he wasn't some easy target?

"Don't. It's good that you have this fighting spirit, but you're far from being able to contend with the Heavenly Dao. If it sneezes, your life would be in jeopardy. Don't cause yourself unnecessary frustration or seek self-defeat. Be good."

The woman's voice was gentle, her words pleasant, but they pierced Tang Rao's heart like a steel knife, mercilessly stabbing and twisting it.

"Sis, although we haven't met, I'm sure you're my real sister. Your words are harsh, alright, you're capable!"

With gentleness mingled with sharpness, pondering whose temperament the woman increasingly resembled, only one name floated in Tang Rao's mind — Bai Xiaotong, his kind-hearted little aunt.
