The Programmer Cultivator

Chapter 578 - 120: Confession

Elder Huang’s face twitched. His expression shifted slightly as he looked at the vine that had been freed.

Most of his Spiritual Power had been converted into Spirit Species and ejected, so he actually didn’t have much left in his body. That was why, as Qu Wenbai struggled, he hadn’t pressed his advantage to kick the man while he was down.

Because using up what little Spiritual Power remained might not have any effect anyway.

But as he looked at the freed vine, Elder Huang’s Heart Spirit flickered, and he once again expended a bit of his scarce Spiritual Power.

He unleashed his self-developed technique: Yin Yang Vine Entanglement!

As the Technique was activated, the Ruby Vine that had emerged from his opponent’s rear and was unconsciously wrapped around his body instantly turned black and white.

Qu Wenbai, who had been struggling, froze stiff. A moment later, however, the vine reverted to its ruby form due to the lack of Spiritual Power.

But in that fleeting moment of the Extreme Trapping Skill, Qu Wenbai’s resistance was thrown into complete disarray.

The moment his opponent’s power fell into chaos, the previously suppressed vines erupted completely.

The vine at his rear instantly swelled and extended, wrapping around most of his body. At the same time, tiny red vine tips began to emerge from his nostrils, mouth, and even his ears.

But even so, even though the damage from these Spirit Species vines was not merely physical—Qu Wenbai was suffering the same injuries on a conceptual level—as a Three Talents Cultivator, he still had the strength to resist.

He quickly reorganized his power and briefly suppressed the erupting Spirit Species. He now clearly recognized how dire his situation was, especially since both his Life Soul and Main Body were present.

Getting his injuries under control, he said urgently, "Do it now!"

As he spoke, a bewitching flower in Qu Wenbai’s hand swayed gently, emitting a rosy mist. As the flower swayed, Qu Wenbai’s already severe injuries suddenly worsened.

His already ancient and stooped form instantly grew even paler, and his body even trembled slightly.

After a jolt, his face became serene, as if nothing in the world could faze him. He had entered the Wise Man’s Time.

As Qu Wenbai trembled, a stream of exceptionally pure Essence flowed into the flower, making it even more vibrant and bewitching.

"Guann Zhenzhen!!! You’re taking advantage of my predicament at a time like this!" Qu Wenbai roared after his moment of sagely calm.

’You told me to make my move, but you didn’t want to contribute? You want me to get you out of this mess, and you expect me to pay for the privilege? You must be dreaming!

’Besides, while I may have been forward, I didn’t see you putting up much of a fight! But I have to say, this Essence you’ve guarded for a thousand years is truly pure.’

As the flower swayed, Guann Zhenzhen’s words were transmitted to Qu Wenbai through his Heart Spirit. He could clearly hear the sound of her licking her lips.

Qu Wenbai’s body trembled, and he almost lost control of the vines on his body once again.

Just then, as the flower swayed, a pentagonal altar abruptly materialized before Qu Wenbai, appearing without a trace.

At the altar’s five corners were five miniature pools. A green one and a transparent one exerted a powerful suction force on the two of them.

Guann Zhenzhen, in her flower form, was pulled into the jade-green miniature pool, where she came to float at its center.

And Qu Wenbai, in his terribly weakened state, was pulled by the transparent pool, transforming into a twisted black mist that hovered in the center of its pool.

However, compared to the purity of the flower, tiny Ruby Vines were tangled within the twisted black mist, faintly visible as the mist swirled.

One particularly thick Ruby Vine stuck out from the black mist, swaying unconsciously like a small tail.

If one hadn’t seen what happened before, just looking at this swirling black mist with its gem-like, swaying tail, it might have actually seemed a bit endearing, like a cute pet.

Once the two were in place, the altar shuddered slightly and absorbed all the residual, turbid aura from the entire plaza. But even after absorbing all of it, the altar was still far from meeting its minimum requirements.

The altar flickered, its Shadow Escape proceeding with extreme slowness. In three of the five corner pools floated three objects—the flower, the black mist, and a metallic sphere—all helpless to do anything about the state of the pools.

The Wood Attribute flower had provided only inferior Resources, just enough to make up the numbers but of poor quality;

The Water Attribute black mist hadn’t even provided enough Resources, making only a token gesture;

The metallic sphere had provided more than enough Resources, personally offered as a sacrifice through its ancestral land before the ritual even began, with no waste along the way.

The Resources provided were sufficient, but before the other parties could even make their move, it took them back.

It even plundered a good portion of the reserves that had been slowly accumulated over the years.

As a result, even though three parties had taken their places on the pentagonal altar and the ritual had begun, the entire altar, far from operating, had fallen into a severe deficit.

The only reason it hadn’t failed at the outset was due to the deep reserves built up by generations of people over many years.

The altar rotated slowly, almost threatening to stop, fall to the ground, and expand.

Guann Zhenzhen cried out anxiously, "Old Demon Duan, why is your Gold Element Sacrificial Pool still in a deficit?"
