The Real Heiress Has an Appraisal System

Chapter 63: You’re Going to Make a Top-Tier Blue Diamond Ring?

She remembered the apartment next to hers was empty, so she figured she’d talk to property management. She wanted to ask if anyone had bought it yet; if not, she would buy it herself.

She needed to buy a place anyway, and with the money she had now, she could afford a decent-sized apartment.

It would be a place to store her equipment and serve as her own workshop.

Gu Shengsheng’s eyes lit up at the thought. ’I can’t even imagine it. Once I have a workshop, I can make and restore things every day. I’ll be living and breathing with my treasures. It’ll be like having my own secret base.’

She could only imagine how wonderful that would be.

With that in mind, Gu Shengsheng had the movers help her carry the equipment into the apartment.

Then, just as she opened her phone to discuss buying the apartment, she saw over 999 notifications reminding her to livestream.

Gu Shengsheng slapped her forehead. She had definitely been so busy she’d forgotten.

She started the livestream and said with a helpless sigh, "Sorry, everyone. I went out for drinks last night and got a little tipsy, so I don’t plan on going out to appraise anything today."

When Gu Shengsheng said this, the treasure hunters in her chat were very curious:

"Streamer, we all remember you still haven’t used that blue diamond, and you haven’t sold it either."

"I thought about it all last night, and I still don’t get what’s so special about that blue diamond."

"Streamer, what are you doing today? We want to see your daily life!"

"..."

Gu Shengsheng was very patient, replying one by one, "Actually, what I’m doing today is related to that blue diamond."

As she spoke, Gu Shengsheng pointed the phone’s camera at the equipment. "You’ll see when the time comes."

"My husband and I don’t have enough room for all my stuff in our little home, so I’m planning to buy the small apartment next door. I’ll do my restoration work over there."

"Whoa, the streamer’s buying a house!"

"Finally! I was just saying how other streamers start enjoying their money, but ours hasn’t yet!"

"Buying a house... I want to see the property prices in Beijing City. My dream is to buy a house in Beijing City!"

"..."

Gu Shengsheng first went through property management to find a real estate agent, and then contacted the original owner. She learned that the owner had moved abroad with no plans to return, so they were fine with selling it to her.

The space wasn’t huge, only about 200 square meters or so, which came out to just over thirty million.

Gu Shengsheng walked in while still livestreaming. Although it wasn’t enormous, the existing decor was excellent. It had floor-to-ceiling windows, the sofas were brand new and unused, and almost everything was in pristine condition.

This sort of thing was all too common among the wealthy.

Many of them loved to buy properties everywhere and just let them sit empty, never even visiting.

So, Gu Shengsheng thought it was a pretty good deal.

The viewers in the livestream chat were also satisfied. Getting to see inside a rich person’s apartment for once wasn’t bad at all.

Many of the treasure hunters were joking around.

"A while back, a middle schooler from Wanliu District went viral for owning a Qi Baishi painting. That’s the same district where the streamer is buying her place."

"Yeah, streamer... he might even be your neighbor! When you have time, take us to see if that Qi Baishi painting is real or not!"

"Streamer, hurry up and buy it! Money is meant to be spent."

Gu Shengsheng nodded. "That makes sense."

"If my treasure hunters support me buying it, then I’ll buy it."

After she bought the apartment, she propped her phone up inside and began to move the pieces of equipment out one by one, placing them in her newly purchased home.

’Now that I’ve bought the place, it’s much better to keep living in my own apartment,’ she mused.

Coincidentally, the Lu Family thought she was living with Lu Shijing, so this would save her from some unnecessary trouble.

She could enjoy her peace and quiet this way.

Gu Shengsheng casually hoisted a piece of equipment and headed next door. She recalled how the saleswoman had been so worried about her, wondering why a young woman like her was buying a pile of heavy machinery.

’Thinking about it now, she was probably afraid I wouldn’t be able to move it,’ she thought.

’Sorry to disappoint, but my strength... is actually pretty impressive.’

Just as she shouldered a spectrometer to carry it next door, Lu Shijing, from the apartment across the hall, appeared in front of her.

His eyes were filled with clear disbelief.

’Her strength... is really something else,’ Lu Shijing thought.

He had been on the verge of asking if she needed help, but now he got the feeling she didn’t.

Gu Shengsheng was clearly startled too. The equipment crashed to the floor, landing right on her foot.

"Hiss." She snatched her foot back in pain.

She looked at Lu Shijing with a hint of resentment, but she couldn’t really blame him. After all, he hadn’t done anything, not even said hello.

"Can I help you, sir?"

Lu Shijing looked at her foot. "That looked bad. Do you need to go to the hospital?"

"Or, I can help you carry that."

Just as Gu Shengsheng was about to say he wouldn’t be able to lift it, Lu Shijing moved the equipment over with surprising ease.

’Finally,’ she thought, ’a man with some actual strength.’

Then, Lu Shijing said, "So you bought this place too."

"Yes. I have a lot of things, which is inconvenient. I live next door with my husband, and I don’t want to disturb him. So I bought the apartment next door." ’Even though my early-departed husband is dead,’ she mused, ’he probably wouldn’t have liked me bringing so much stuff home anyway.’

’Out of respect for the dead, I won’t work in that apartment. I’ll work in this one next door.’

"With your husband?" Lu Shijing was puzzled. ’Aren’t I supposed to be dead?’

"That’s right," Gu Shengsheng nodded. "My husband isn’t home much. He’s often out having fun with our two kids."

"I’m over forty, you know. It’s not easy."

Hearing this, Lu Shijing couldn’t help but find it amusing.

’How can she be so interesting?’ he thought. ’She says it all as if it’s actually true.’

Gu Shengsheng didn’t want to talk to him too much. "This whole side of the floor is my place, and that side is yours. No one else lives here. Looks like I’m your only neighbor from now on. Hi, I’m Gu Shengsheng."

He nodded. "Lu Shi... never mind. You can just call me Mister." ’That was close,’ he thought. ’I almost said my name.’

Gu Shengsheng nodded. "Oh."

She gave a casual nod, not thinking much of it. ’Whatever his name is, it has nothing to do with me.’

By now, all the equipment was moved. Gu Shengsheng couldn’t be bothered to deal with him anymore and went straight into her new apartment to start making her jewelry.

She had kept the livestream running the whole time. As she quietly worked on her drawings, the viewers sent fewer and fewer comments, as if they were afraid of disturbing her.

They had previously thought Gu Shengsheng was just lucky at appraising treasures; they never expected she could also create design schematics.

Gu Shengsheng worked quickly, finishing a three-view drawing of a diamond ring. Then, she faced the camera and said, "You all asked me what I was going to do with the blue diamond. I won’t keep you in suspense any longer—I’m using it to set a ring."

"The thing the streamer is drawing is so intricate. And I have a feeling it’s meant to be paired with something else."
