The Rebirth of Humanity

Chapter 18: Purging the Shadows

Several days had passed since Zeta was sealed off from the world.

From the moment the ancient formation was fully activated, everything had changed.

The continent was no longer exposed to the eyes of the other races.

Divine Sense could no longer penetrate its borders.

Spatial passages could no longer reach it.

And no external force could easily determine what was happening within.

But the Supreme Council of Humanity did not view this merely as a means of defense.

They saw it as an opportunity they had been waiting for.

For thousands of years...

Humanity had not been alone within its own lands.

There had been other eyes.

Eyes belonging to the six other supreme races.

Spies.

Agents.

Infiltrators.

Individuals who had lived among humans for so long that some had even become part of their communities.

They watched.

They gathered information.

And they sent their reports to their masters.

But now...

The path between them and the outside world had been severed.

For the first time in thousands of years, Zeta was completely sealed.

And the Supreme Council of Humanity was prepared to make use of that opportunity.

At the headquarters of the Supreme Council of Humanity...

The grand council chamber was shrouded in silence.

The Four Pillars sat in their respective seats.

Thorin.

Valor.

Morgana.

And Eleanor.

Before them stood several high-ranking officials.

But this time, there were no maps of cities.

No reports concerning the return of humanity.

No plans for constructing new cities.

Instead, there were files.

A great many files.

Files that had accumulated over the course of many years.

Valor spoke calmly.

"We have sealed Zeta."

No one answered.

He continued:

"Now it is time to seal something else."

He raised his hand.

One of the officials opened a massive file.

Then Valor said:

"The eyes of the other races."

Silence descended.

Thorin asked:

"Are the lists complete?"

The official answered:

"Yes."

He then placed another stack of files before him.

"We have records on individuals suspected of having connections to the vampires, elves, angels, demons, beasts, and werewolves."

The breathing of some of those present stopped.

The numbers were not small.

There were many of them.

And some of the names had been known within human society for generations.

Morgana asked:

"How long have we been monitoring them?"

The official answered:

"Some for decades."

Then he added:

"And some for more than a century."

A heavy silence filled the chamber.

Eleanor asked:

"So you knew they were here all this time?"

The official answered cautiously:

"We knew there were spies."

He glanced at the files.

"But we did not always have sufficient evidence to move against them."

Valor nodded.

It was true.

Arresting even a single spy was not a simple matter.

If a spy suddenly disappeared, their master outside might realize that something had happened.

And if a large-scale wave of arrests were launched...

The other races would immediately realize that humanity had uncovered their networks.

That was why the Council had remained silent.

They watched.

They waited.

They gathered information.

Until the right moment arrived.

And now...

Zeta was sealed.

Thorin raised his head.

His expression was different this time.

Cold.

Decisive.

He said:

"From this moment onward, there will be no mercy."

Silence followed.

Then he spoke clearly:

"By order of the Four Pillars..."

He paused for a moment.

"Anyone proven to be a spy or agent of another race will be executed immediately."

The expressions of those present changed.

But Thorin did not stop.

"And anyone under serious suspicion whose presence is determined to pose a threat to the security of humanity will be dealt with immediately according to the Council's orders."

Valor looked at everyone.

Then added in a calm, yet harsher voice:

"We will not allow a single spy to exploit chaos or delay in order to escape."

Morgana said:

"We do not want any secrets leaking out."

Eleanor added:

"Nor do we want a single eye belonging to the other races remaining within Zeta."

Valor then raised the seal of the Supreme Council of Humanity.

He pressed it firmly against the document.

"Execute the order."

At that very moment...

The decision was issued.

The Purge Order.

From that moment onward, every branch of the Council operated under the direct authority of the Four Pillars.

No delays.

No leniency.

And no second chance for anyone proven to be an agent.

That very day...

The operation began.

But it did not begin with soldiers.

No banners were raised.

No state of emergency was announced.

No bells were rung.

The ordinary humans knew nothing.

Special units of the Council moved in silence.

Men and women trained in espionage operations and the pursuit of enemy agents.

Some were among humanity's most powerful investigators.

Others had spent decades studying the methods and techniques used by the other races.

Their orders were clear:

Find the spies.

Identify them.

Arrest them.

And anyone proven to be an agent... would be executed.

In one of the great cities...

A man had worked as a merchant for more than seventy years.

He owned a large shop.

He was well known among the local population.

No one suspected him.

He spoke with customers.

He smiled.

He sold his goods like any ordinary merchant.

But when he closed his shop that evening...

He found four people waiting for him in the alley behind it.

He stopped.

He looked at them.

Then asked:

"Is there a problem?"

One of them produced the seal of the Supreme Council.

"By order of the Supreme Council of Humanity, you are required to submit to an investigation."

His expression changed.

"Why?"

The man did not answer.

Instead, he said:

"Do not resist."

The next moment...

Several spiritual restraints shot forward.

The merchant attempted to resist.

And his aura changed.

It was no longer the aura of an ordinary merchant.

It was cold.

Strange.

Different from that of a human.

One of the investigators said:

"A vampire."

Silence.

Then the merchant gave a cold smile.

"So you finally discovered it."

But before he could do anything...

He was completely restrained.

Moments later, the verdict was issued.

"By order of the Four Pillars..."

The investigator paused.

"Execute the sentence."

The merchant could no longer say a word.

In another city...

A woman worked as a physician.

She had lived among humans for more than fifty years.

Everyone knew her as a skilled doctor.

She had helped thousands.

And she was highly respected.

But when a Council team entered her home...

She did not resist.

She looked at them calmly and asked:

"How long have you known?"

One of them answered:

"Long enough."

She asked:

"And do you know who sent me?"

He did not answer.

Instead, he said:

"You will answer that during the investigation."

She smiled.

"Then it is over."

She was an elf.

And after her identity and connection to an external network were confirmed...

The same verdict was issued.

The Council was unwilling to take any chances.

In another region...

A man who worked as an adviser to a powerful merchant was arrested.

In a distant village...

An individual who had lived among humans for decades was taken into custody.

In a coastal city...

A spy who had been reporting on the movements of human ships was exposed.

In an agricultural region...

The Council discovered an agent who had been monitoring the movement of resources.

And in one of the ancient cities...

Another spy revealed himself after attempting to use a special technique to communicate with his master outside Zeta.

But the attempt failed.

He did not know that space itself had been sealed.

As the hours passed...

The operation expanded.

One after another.

Then dozens.

Then hundreds.

Among them were spies of different races.

Vampires.

Elves.

Angels.

Demons.

Beasts.

Werewolves.

Even spies who had mastered their disguises so perfectly that they had lived among humans for decades without ever being discovered.

But the Council had prepared for this.

It did not rely solely on confessions.

Nor did it act on baseless suspicions.

Instead, it relied on years of accumulated evidence and intelligence.

And because of that...

Escape was not easy.

Anyone whose allegiance was proven was given no second chance.

There was only one sentence.

Execution.

At the headquarters of the Supreme Council...

Reports continued to arrive.

"Seven have been arrested."

"Another network has been uncovered."

"One of the agents attempted to flee."

"He has been contained."

"We discovered three more spies in the northern city."

"There is another group operating in the coastal regions."

The work did not stop.

But there was no celebration.

The Council did not consider the arrests a victory.

It considered them a long-overdue cleansing.

Eleanor asked:

"How many remain?"

The official answered:

"We do not yet know the true number."

Then he added:

"But we believe this is only the beginning."

Valor looked at the files.

Then said:

"Then continue."

Deep within Zeta...

The outside world was powerless to see what was happening.

The other races did not know that their networks within the continent were beginning to collapse.

No message reached them.

No report reached them.

No warning reached them.

The continent was sealed.

And the spies who had served as the eyes of the outside powers...

Were disappearing one after another.

Outside, the great powers continued watching the golden barrier.

Wondering what the humans were doing behind it.

But they did not know...

That the Supreme Council of Humanity was quietly removing the last of their eyes from within Zeta.

As night fell...

Dozens of locations had been searched.

Hundreds of individuals were under investigation.

And entire espionage networks had collapsed.

Some had existed for decades.

Others for generations.

But the operation was not over.

It had only just begun.

In the Council chamber, Valor stood before a massive map of Zeta.

Hundreds of marks covered it.

Then he said:

"Five thousand years..."

He looked at the leaders around him.

"For five thousand years, the other races have watched us from within our own homeland."

Silence.

Then he raised his eyes.

"But this time..."

He paused.

"We will not allow it."

Thorin said:

"We sealed the sky."

Morgana said:

"And now we are closing their eyes."

As for Eleanor...

She said calmly:

"Zeta must become a land belonging to humanity alone."

No one objected.

And that night...

The purge continued throughout the continent.

There was no noise.

No war.

No armies marching through the streets.

Only shadows moving through the darkness.

Spies being arrested.

Networks collapsing.

Secrets being uncovered.

And executions being carried out.

For the first time in five thousand years...

Zeta had begun ridding itself of the eyes of the world that had infiltrated it.

But the Supreme Council of Humanity did not know that the purge of the spies was merely one step among many.

The age of humanity being watched from the outside was over.

And now...

Humanity had to begin moving forward on its own.

Deep within the Sovereign Palace...

Everything remained quiet.

The man seated in the depths of the palace remained far removed from everything taking place.

While his body continued to restore its strength in silence.

As for the outside world...

It had no idea that behind the golden Sealed Sky, humanity was closing the final doors of its past...

And preparing to open a new era.
