The Rebirth of Humanity

Chapter 33: The Summit of Beginning and End

The message brought by the angelic envoy reached Thorin’s hands.

It bore an ancient seal, and traces of a strange energy lingered across its surface—an energy Thorin had never encountered before.

The message itself did not appear lengthy, yet it was enough to make Thorin realize that this was far more than an ordinary letter.

The Summit of the Seven Supreme Races was no ordinary event.

It was an ancient gathering dating back to distant eras, held only once every hundred years, when the seven races that stood at the pinnacle of Gandalia gathered to discuss matters that could affect the balance of the entire planet.

For that reason, Thorin did not open the message.

It was not his place to do so.

His only duty was to deliver it to the one person who possessed the authority to decide humanity’s position.

The Monarch.

Thorin turned and departed immediately.

His steps were steady and swift, while his mind remained occupied with what the message might contain.

After fifty years of isolation...

After humanity had rebuilt its cities, unified its territories, established a unified army, and constructed a war fleet that had not existed only a few decades ago...

Humanity had now received an invitation to the Summit of the Supreme Races.

More importantly...

The outside world knew nothing about the extent of the transformation that had taken place within Zeta.

They knew nothing of the number of soldiers.

Nor the number of ships.

Nor the amount of resources humanity had accumulated.

Nor the level of development its industries had achieved.

And they certainly did not know...

that the Human Emperor whom the entire world believed had become nothing more than a legend had returned.

Thorin continued onward until he reached the Sovereign Palace.

The palace stood at the heart of the Sacred Land of Humanity, towering over the surrounding city. Over the decades, it had become a symbol of human authority and the new unity humanity had established across its territory.

Thorin entered the palace and traversed its vast corridors until he reached its oldest section.

The deeper he ventured, the denser the surrounding energy became.

At last, he arrived before the ancient hall.

He stood before the enormous black gate.

Then, in a respectful voice, he said:

"My Monarch, an envoy from the angels has arrived bearing a message from the Supreme Races."

Silence descended.

After several moments...

the gate trembled slightly before beginning to open.

A profound darkness emerged from behind it, making Thorin feel, for a fleeting moment, as though he were standing before another world.

He entered without hesitation.

The gate then closed behind him.

Deep within the hall, Fafnir sat upon his black throne.

His long black hair flowed behind him, his black eyes remained still, and his aura was so motionless that his very existence seemed to be a part of the darkness itself.

Thorin approached until he stood before the throne.

He bowed respectfully.

"My Monarch."

He extended the message with both hands.

Fafnir took it without saying a word.

He opened it and began to read.

Thorin remained standing in place.

One moment passed.

Then another.

Fafnir’s expression did not change.

His eyes moved calmly across the words until he reached the end.

Fafnir lifted his eyes from the message.

At that very moment...

the paper between his fingers turned to dust.

Its particles scattered through the air before fading into the darkness of the hall.

Fafnir spoke in a deep voice:

"The Summit..."

He paused for a moment.

Then continued:

"I have not heard that term in a very long time."

His voice carried no surprise.

Rather, it held something akin to the recollection of a distant memory.

A memory from another era.

An era when Gandalia had been different.

An era when the seven races had fought for supremacy, and humanity had stood at the very heart of that struggle.

Fafnir fell silent for a moment.

Then a smile appeared upon his face.

"Good... good."

He raised his eyes toward Thorin.

Then said:

"The date of this gathering shall be the time when the planet Gandalia welcomes the return of this great one."

Thorin’s eyes widened.

He froze for a moment.

He knew that Fafnir had returned.

And he knew that humanity had been preparing for something far greater.

But the thought of Fafnir appearing before the world himself was something entirely different.

Thorin asked hurriedly, his voice filled with excitement:

"Does this mean you will announce your return to the world, my Monarch?"

Fafnir smiled.

But he did not answer.

He remained silent, leaving only that enigmatic smile hanging within the darkness of the hall.

Thorin did not need to hear an answer.

He bowed respectfully.

"Understood, my Monarch."

Then he turned and left the hall.

The moment he stepped outside, his pace changed.

He no longer walked with the same calmness.

Excitement filled his heart.

For thousands of years, the name Fafnir had become a legend.

The Greatest Human.

The Human Emperor.

The True Monarch of Humanity.

The existence who had led humanity through the Primordial War and forced the most powerful races in Gandalia to treat humanity with caution.

And now...

that name might return to the world once more.

Thorin wasted no time.

He sent a message to Valor, Morgana, and Eleanor.

The message reached them shortly afterward.

Valor read its contents in silence.

Then he raised his head and said:

"So... the Monarch will appear."

As for Morgana, she continued staring at the message for several moments, as though trying to comprehend the meaning of those words.

She said quietly:

"After all these years..."

Elsewhere, Eleanor remained silent for some time before saying:

"If the Monarch appears before the Supreme Races..."

She stopped.

She did not finish the sentence.

There was no need.

Valor understood.

Morgana understood.

And Thorin understood.

Fafnir’s return would not merely be news.

It would be a shock that would shake all of Gandalia.

And yet, no announcement was made.

The army was not informed.

The cities were not informed.

No envoy was dispatched to the outside world.

The matter remained confined to an extremely small circle.

As for the outside world, it knew nothing.

Humanity’s trade continued as usual.

Trade ships departed from Zeta’s ports, heading toward various trading cities and regions across Gandalia.

They returned laden with heavenly ores, spiritual herbs, spiritual stones, and rare resources.

Other ships carried human products outward.

As time passed, human trade became increasingly stable.

Merchants from different races began dealing with humanity more naturally.

Seeing a human ship in one of the trading cities was no longer as surprising as it had been at first.

But what no one knew was that this trade served another purpose.

Humanity was gathering resources.

In enormous quantities.

The factories operated without interruption.

The mines extracted ore.

The warehouses continued to fill.

The shipyards continued producing more vessels.

And the army continued its training.

All of this...

while the outside world believed that humanity had returned to Gandalia for the sake of trade alone.

No one knew the full truth.

Meanwhile, the countdown to the summit had begun.

One week.

Then another.

Then a third.

As the date drew closer, news began spreading throughout Gandalia.

"The Summit will be held soon."

"The date is approaching."

"Will all the Supreme Races participate?"

"Of course."

"What will they discuss this time?"

Speculation spread.

Some powers expected the summit to concern disputed territories.

Others believed they would discuss the changes that had taken place across Gandalia during the previous century.

And there were those who had begun speaking about humanity.

Especially after the Heavenly Lock had been lifted and human ships had returned to the trade routes.

But no one knew what humanity was hiding.

No one knew that behind those trade ships lay an immense military force.

And no one knew that Zeta, which the world had once considered a weak and isolated land, had been transformed over fifty years into something entirely different.

As for the Sovereign Palace...

Fafnir remained calm.

He had no need to announce anything.

He knew that the world would learn everything at the proper time.

The days passed swiftly.

And finally...

the month came to an end.

The day everyone had been waiting for arrived.

The day of the Summit.

The gathering would be held in a place unlike anywhere else in Gandalia.

The Summit of Beginning and End.

The highest mountain in the world.

The mountain stood at the heart of a remote region, towering above everything around it.

Its peak rose to an immense height, so high that it seemed to touch the heavens themselves.

Clouds drifted around the middle of the mountain, while its summit towered far above them.

Ancient snow covered vast portions of its rocky slopes, but the summit itself was different.

There, an enormous plaza stretched across the mountaintop.

An extremely ancient plaza.

So ancient that no one knew exactly who had built it.

It belonged to no race.

Nor was it under the rule of any empire.

It was neutral ground.

At its center stood a massive circular platform, surrounded by ancient stone pillars bearing traces of mysterious energies and laws.

This was the place where the Supreme Races had gathered throughout the ages.

Once every hundred years.

No more.

And on this day...

the time had come once again.

Various forces began arriving.

Sacred auras appeared in the distant sky.

The forces of the angels were approaching.

In another direction, dark demonic auras emerged.

The forces of the beasts had also begun moving from their ancient territories.

The elves appeared as well.

Then the werewolves.

Then the vampires.

One after another...

the Supreme Races began sending their representatives.

No side wished to arrive late.

This was no ordinary gathering.

Even those whose races harbored ancient enmities understood that this place possessed its own laws.

No war.

No attacks.

No settling of old scores.

At least...

not within the territory of the summit.

Across different parts of Gandalia, countless gazes were directed toward the Summit of Beginning and End.

Millions knew that a historic gathering was about to begin.

But only a handful knew how significant the events that might unfold could truly be.

The representatives of the Supreme Races began arriving.

A representative of the angels arrived.

A representative of the demons arrived.

The forces of the beasts arrived.

The elves arrived.

Then the werewolves.

Then the vampires.

Each side watched the others cautiously.

The gathering had brought the most powerful forces in the world together in one place.

No one fully trusted anyone else.

Every race had its own interests.

Every leader had their own calculations.

Every power had its own secrets.

But they all knew one thing:

The Summit had begun.

As for humanity...

it had not yet arrived.

Some gazes began turning toward the sky.

Then whispers spread.

"Where are the humans?"

"Will they participate?"

"They received an invitation, didn't they?"

"Yes."

"Then why haven't they arrived yet?"

No one had an answer.

And while the representatives of the Supreme Races waited...

a tiny point appeared in the distant sky.

It approached slowly.

Then it grew larger.

And larger.

Until the shape of a massive vessel began to emerge.

A human ship.

But it was not a trade ship.

It was a vessel designated for official transportation.

It was enormous and imposing, fully armored, with the symbol of humanity clearly displayed upon its prow.

When the ship appeared in the sky...

many conversations came to an abrupt halt.

All eyes turned toward it.

The various auras upon the summit began observing it.

The arrival of humanity alone was enough to draw attention.

Since the lifting of the Heavenly Lock, humanity had returned to Gandalia.

But it had yet to enter the true political arena.

Today...

it was taking its first step toward doing so.

The ship drew closer.

Then began descending toward the summit.

No one inside had appeared yet.

Its doors remained closed.

All the gathered figures could see was the symbol of humanity upon the vessel’s prow.

Silence gradually descended.

Even some of the ancient beings began sensing something strange.

Something they could not explain.

As though this gathering...

would not be like the ones before it.

The Summit of Beginning and End waited.

The seven Supreme Races were present.

And humanity had arrived.

But the one person whose appearance remained uncertain...

was still behind the ship’s closed doors.

And as every gaze remained fixed upon the vessel...

history was about to open a new page.

A page that had not been written for five thousand years.

A page bearing a single name.

Fafnir.
