"You have a Beta-ranked Pragma with potential to become Alpha-ranked," Ada said as she looked at the numbers on the bracelet.
In other words, with training, it was possible for her Pragma to easily reach Alpha-Rank, unlike other awakened.
Currently, in the world, there were only five people with such Pragma potential, two of whom were Radiance and Valor.
This also meant that the chances of her being ranked as a beta-ranked hero were a lot higher.
And even if she awakened a ’useless’ Factor, the lowest rank she’d attain was Gamma-rank.
Lea’s eyes widened as she also looked down at the bracelet and then back at Ada before asking, "A-are you sure?"
"I’m certain," Ada nodded before muttering something to herself, but Lea didn’t quite hear her.
Liam, on the other hand, quite clearly heard her words, causing a frown to appear on his face.
He had been suspicious of the way she acted since earlier, even going as far as handing him her research on a Pragma battery.
But with what she whispered just now, he was certain of it,
Someone put her up to this.
Either way, she didn’t seem to show any sign of hostility, so he’d keep observing her for now.
Besides, Zero can always visit her later.
"Now then," Ada took the bracelet from Lea’s wrist, walked back to the monitor and typed something in.
Most likely Lea’s details, since Ada had also taken the ID issued to her at the reception area.
A couple of seconds later, she walked back to the siblings, handed Liam another file, before turning to Lea and saying, "Now then, shall we find out what your Factor is?"
Unlike Pragma, there wasn’t a particular machine that scanned one to know what their Factor was.
Awakened humans usually instinctively felt what their Factors were, which was the only reason most would go to a Pragma measurement facility in the first place.
But in rare cases, some awakened humans would only find out what their Factors were a lot later.
Though Lea was simply confused about what her Factor was, since it had been displaying different traits so far.
"I think it has something to do with healing," She revealed after Ada’s words.
"Healing?" Ada asked.
"Hmm," Lea nodded in response, "my wounds instantly heal on their own whenever I get cut."
"Is that so?" Ada placed a hand on her chin before she added, "Then excuse me, this is going to sting a little."
The next second, a small sterilized knife was in her hand, and before Lea could notice, a cut was on her palm.
"Ouch," Lea let out as she flinched, but the next second, her eyes started glowing green, and the cut slowly stitched itself together.
"How interesting," Ada let out.
Even Liam was quite surprised by how fast she healed.
"Would you mind letting me find the limits of your Factor?" Ada asked, her expression going from a calm one to one fitting of a mad scientist.
Lea turned to look at her older brother, who was giving her a look that told her that the decision was hers in the end.
So, in the end, she simply nodded.
"Great," Ada let out, "now then, can you tell me anything else you’ve experienced? Perhaps your Factor has affected someone else?"
Lea was silent for a while, but after only a bit of thought, she muttered, "I also seem to be able to sense and absorb the emotions of others."
Ada froze, placed a hand on her chin as she muttered, "Those two Factors don’t seem connected.....unless."
She then looked at Liam and said, "May I have your hand?"
Without question, Liam obliged, festing the back of his hand in her palm.
"Excuse me," Ada said as she placed a different kind of bracelet on his wrist before making a cut on his palm.
"This bracelet should pick up a bit of stress in your brain thanks to the c—" she started explaining, but froze when she realized that there wasn’t a single spike on the bracelet’s screen.
"Huh?" Ada let out before looking back at him and saying, "You do not feel the cut?"
"I do," Liam answered.
"Then why is there no spike?" She asked again, genuinely confused.
Usually, even if someone was used to pain, the brain always had the slightest bit of a reaction to it.
But for the man before her, there was no reaction from his brain... Did he perhaps have some sort of brain disorder?
Lea, seeing the cut on her older brother’s palm, calmly approached, took his hand from Ada’s, and under both their gazes, her eyes glowed green again.
Liam watched as the wound fixed itself until not even a scar remained.
"..." Lea looked down at the palm for a while before saying, "I guess I can do that too."
"How very interesting!" Ada let out, immediately ignoring the fact that Liam hadn’t responded to the pain from the cut.
Instead, she completely focused on Lea.
***
An hour.
That’s how long it took for Ada to be completely satisfied.
But one couldn’t blame her either; after all, Lea’s Factor or rather, Factors, truly were fascinating.
Since they couldn’t come up with a single name for her array of Factors, they simply went with,
Support.
That was truly the only word that could describe her Factors.
After all, not only could Lea heal herself and others, she could also absorb emotions and even cleanse one of any type of status effect.
But perhaps the most impressive was the last discovered Factor.
Ada was simply curious, so she had Lea try to use one of her Factors on her own Factor, and the result?
Lea could also amplify the Factors of others.
This meant that she was most certainly going to be assigned Beta-rank.
Whilst Ada drooled over Lea, Liam had a single thought in his mind,
’Should I kill her?’
It wasn’t as if he had anything against Ada, but if news of Lea awakening this many Factors was leaked, then it’d undoubtedly put her in danger.
But he could very easily prevent that from happening by getting rid of Ada right now.
The only problem was the fact that they were currently inside the HA, and escaping safely with Lea and Eli would be hard.
In the end, he simply let out a sigh before saying, "Would you mind not logging all those Factors?"
"Hmm?" Ada turned to him in confusion, immediately noticing that his expression seemed completely serious.
"I’d like you to only input healing as her Factor," Liam said without a change in his tone or expression.
Ada looked at him for a while, about to say something but froze, looked into his eyes before sighing and nodding, "Alright."
With that, she walked to the monitor again, printed yet another file before handing it to Liam again.
Liam gave a small nod of thanks as he took the file, glancing at it just long enough to confirm the change had actually been made.
"Thank you," he said, tucking it under his arm.
"Alright then," Ada muttered with a smile as she looked back at Lea, "we’re done here, thank you for showing me something interesting."
"Hmm", Lea nodded with a small smile, her relief very evident on her face.
Liam, on the other hand, walked towards Eli, who was still lying down with the VR glasses on.
He crouched towards the kid, observing the smile on his face before grinning. Slowly, he lifted his hand and tapped the center of the glasses, turning them off and logging Eli out.
"Alright, bud," Liam muttered as he looked at the confusion on the kid’s face, "time to leave."
"So soon?" Eli let out a sigh in disappointment.
But Ada’s words caused his mood to immediately do a 180.
"You can keep the glasses," she said with a small smile on her face.
"Really?!" Eli let out, "Thank you so much."
"You’re welcome," Ada responded with a smile, and she watched as the trio left.
"Quite the performance you just put on."
The moment the three left the lab, another voice came from a certain corner of the lab.
Ada didn’t need to turn around to know who it was, but she still turned around before responding, "I did what you asked. Why are you here?"
"I have no idea," the man said with a shrug, "perhaps I just wanted to see if you’ll truly follow through with your end of the deal."
Ada went silent.
Usually, this lab was so secured that not just anyone could walk in, but that did not seem to be the case for this man.
He had shown up a few days ago, asking that she hand her research on Pragma batteries over to the kid that inspired it.
How did he know that the kid would be coming? She had no idea, but one thing was for certain.
A dangerous man had taken interest in those three.
"Now then," the man slowly walked up to her with a relaxed smile on his face, "shall we get rid of all those unnecessary memories?"
Before she had the chance to step back or do anything, his fingers were already resting on the sides of her head as he added,
"Wouldn’t want my existence to be revealed just yet."
