’Shit! What the fuck are they doing?!’ Higo widened his eyes in shock while also letting out so many curses inwardly the moment he saw the mistake happen. ’I told them to play it safe, and now what?!’

The boy lowered his stance immediately, observing everyone’s movement in a blink. His expression turned ashen when his brain signaled what would happen in the next two seconds, and without even thinking, the boy shifted his position to the left flank immediately, rushing to cover as much space as he could.

’He will come from behind, and the time to steal the ball is too short. The most I can do is to not give him any good space to aim!’

With that thought in mind, Higo spread both arms immediately, lowering his stance so that he could dive in time later. Hell, the boy didn’t even have any time to instruct his teammates, because everyone was in a scramble right now. Shouting and instructing would take too long, and he himself didn’t know whether his teammates could react properly or not.

Thud!

The moment the ball was released by Kramaric to the flank, all the Schalke defenders rushed in a chaotic manner when realizing that the space there was empty. Only Higo came at the right time, but with the space that was still left between the goalkeeper and the one who received the ball, it would be easy to score the goal here.

Higo gritted his teeth, knowing full well that his clean sheet ambition today could be thrown away at the very next second after this. His brain had already caught what the opponent in front of him would do, but it was still a difficult shot to handle.

’Screw it! I have to move!’

Thud!

The boy jumped right at the same time the player in front of him, Robert Skov, pushed the ball with his toe. It wasn’t a powerful shot, just a clever placement from the Danish winger. Higo had already known about that, and that was why he stretched his left foot as far as possible, even close to a split position. He knew the shot would be aimed at the far post, and that was where he put all his effort.

Still, it was not enough to allow him to stop that shot. His face sank immediately when the boy saw the ball roll just a few inches next to his left foot, getting past him so slowly and mockingly. It was only by a miracle that not only did the ball get past him, but it went slightly wide, just rolling in front of the goal line as well before it went out of the pitch, probably one centimeter away from the goal post.

"OH! Almost!"

Robert Skov, who was ready to celebrate the goal, cursed so loudly, even kicking the grass in annoyance. This was probably the best chance he got, and yet, the winger failed to convert it just by a very small margin. The other Hoffenheim players also sighed in regret before they went back to their positions, looking even hungrier than ever.

Still, the same couldn’t be said for the Schalke players, as they all were frozen on the spot right now. Hofmann didn’t dare to say a single word; Juan Miranda also tried to turn around and run as quickly as possible. The reason was that Higo’s face looked so dark, ready to explode at any time.

"So, are you guys satisfied now?" He whispered, low and dangerous.

Some of the guys couldn’t help but flinch, knowing that the goalkeeper was furious right now.

"How many times do I have to tell you guys to play it safe?! Now, what do we get here?! Not only could we not get out of their fucking pressure, but you guys make a blunder! Just exactly as I said! Now, are you finally satisfied with what you get?! Come on! Tell me straight to my face!"

His face turned so red as if all the blood in his body rushed to his brain, and honestly, if not for fear of catching a stray here, some people would show concern, afraid that Higo would pass out from his anger.

Even the supporters on the stand could feel the tension on the pitch, especially when Higo shouted with a dark face like that. They couldn’t help but whisper, finding this situation to be concerning.

"Damn, Higo is really furious, huh?"

"Well, duh?! Even kids could see that, idiot!"

"No, I mean, this is the first time I’ve seen him like this! He has never been this angry with the second team, right?"

"Well, you cannot blame him. We have committed so many blunders like that this season; it is about time someone smacked our defenders on their heads!"

Indeed, this was the first time Higo lost his temper, not just when he was in Schalke, but even during his whole career. Even a bunch of rookies back at Hakodate Nishi had never made him snap like this, which made everything worse here.

Unfortunately, they were still in the middle of the game, so Higo couldn’t vent out all of his emotion freely. No, the referee gave him a warning once for wasting too much time, forcing the boy to continue the game as quickly as possible.

’Fuck! No wonder we are the team that conceded the most goals in this league so far. Everyone is so ass here, goddamnit!’ The boy cursed inwardly.

With that blunder being a precedent, coupled with Higo’s furious snap earlier, people would think that Schalke would learn their lesson. Unfortunately, in this case, they were hoping too much for this team.

This time, it was Juan Miranda who made a blunder. In the 30th minute of the game, he dribbled the ball around his territory so casually, wanting to bait more players to come to his side so that more space would be open in the middle. The intention was good, but the execution was far from being enough.

The Spaniard took too long, and in the end, all the space in front of him was blocked. He tried to force a pass, but it fell directly to a Hoffenheim player who was in a good position.

Seeing this, Higo’s face darkened immediately, cursing once again inside his heart.

’Are you fucking kidding me?!’
