The Rise of the Iron Wall!

Chapter 722: Hit the Post Again! And Again!

A corner kick.

This was definitely not the best scenario to score against Bayern Munich. No, in fact, any team in this country could tell that this was the worst possible approach if a team wanted to score a goal against them. After all, out of 19 goals they conceded in this league so far, none of them came from a corner kick.

Heck, in fact, this situation was a huge danger for the opponent. After all, out of 50 goals that Bayern had scored so far in this league, 6 managed to come out of the counterattack after they anticipated this corner kick scenario. The number might not be that high, but this meant this scenario accounted for about 10 percent of their total goal this year.

That number couldn’t be underestimated, not when it was the fucking Bayern Munich who held it.

That was why only four Schalke players could be seen in the penalty box right now. They were so cautious, not wanting to get caught off guard later. If they somehow conceded another goal, they could forget all the hope that they had to steal a point here.

With this in mind, there was no way any conventional method would work. So, instead of that, Morita decided to play it short, going for a one-two pass with Juan Miranda to get him a better angle before bending the ball so sharply to the far post of the goal.

BAM!

"OH! What a shot!"

"That’s a quality, right?!"

"Damn! Neuer, stop it!"

All the Bayern fans felt that their breath was stuck for a moment, looking at the ball anxiously. Neuer also dived, trying to cover the sky as much as possible. Still, even with his long arms, the German’s national team goalkeeper still failed to reach the ball, and in the end...

Clank!

It just bruised the goalpost gently before bouncing out of the pitch, just a few centimeters away from the goal itself.

"ARGH! FUCK IT!" Morita groaned in frustration when he saw that. "Even this is not enough?! What the hell do I need to do more here?!"

The frustration was understandable. Even though this was only Schalke’s second chance of the day, Morita knew that this could be the only two they could get until the end, and yet, none of them managed to give the team a goal they yearned for.

Not only Morita, but even the other players also showed their dissatisfaction with little gestures like kicking the grass or scowling on the spot, their faces falling, followed by dejected expressions. The fragile confidence that Frohling built during the break shattered into pieces, and now they all went back to their initial thought that this game was impossible to win.

Meanwhile, the same couldn’t be said for Bayern’s side. No, if anything, they let out a relieved sigh after being woken up by this shock therapy. Even though conceding a goal in this moment wouldn’t really affect their mentality that much since they were confident that they could get another one back, the thought of having to break Higo’s defense again was enough to give them a headache.

Now that they managed to avoid the disaster, Bayern Munich, led by Joshua Kimmich, was ready to go for the second goal.

"Come on, everyone! This is our home!"

"Let’s double the lead first! Work harder, frontline!"

"Lewy, don’t daydream again! It is time for you to score!"

Seeing how the players in red jerseys suddenly got fired up like this, everyone suddenly had a bad feeling, realizing that they poked the bear too hard. Now that the beast was awoken, it was time for them to run away and not get killed.

Still, it was easier said than done.

Bayern’s first wave of attack really came like lightning here. Two minutes after Morita’s attempt, Joshua Kimmich managed to send a decent diagonal ball from the backline straight to the channel area where Thomas Muller stood. Even though the team’s captain failed to get the ball, the rebound still fell to another Bayern player, and there, even from a difficult angle still closer to the flank, Ivan Perisic launched a rocket that curved outwardly to the far post.

BAM!

"FUCK!"

Higo reacted quickly, trying to block that shot. However, the curve was too nasty here, as the ball even avoided his hand at the last second. The only saving grace here was that the curve itself was too good to be true, as in the next second...

Clank!

Another chance hitting the goal post!

All the supporters around hitchhiked their breath unconsciously as they had just witnessed two amazing shots just bruising the goal post, getting denied from the goal that was already so close from the ball’s path.

"Fuck! Almost!"

"Damn, this second half is going to be crazy!"

"Come on, Bayern!"

The cheers from the supporters’ side also got louder as they all got pumped up by what happened in the last few seconds. Seeing this, Higo’s complexion turned ugly for a moment before shouting, "Omar-san! Morita-san! Always get ready for the second ball! Don’t always lose the rebound ball that easily!"

Those two nodded quickly, treating this like an order. They knew that at this point, Frohling treated Higo better than his own son, and offending the goalkeeper could mean death to their career in this club.

Not that they would mind getting ordered like that, since Higo was right in this case. Bayern got a lot of chances from the second ball like this, and it was important for the team to cut it off before they suffered the end of it.

Time passed by, but fortunately, the other players were quite obedient to Higo’s order. He didn’t know what Frohling said to them, but even though their reaction wasn’t always perfect, they would always be willing to listen to his words. As a result, after Ivan Perisic’s chance earlier, Bayern still couldn’t get closer to the penalty box, and they managed to hold their own ground for so long.

Still, that didn’t mean Higo would relax. No, if anything, the boy heightened his guard further when he saw the substitution coming up for Bayern Munich.

’Yeah, they are finally going to make a chance. This will make everything different...’
