「One hour later.」
Qiu Shuzhen lay limp on the bed.
Her skirt was half-pulled off, leaving her upturned, peach-like bottom completely bare. A glistening liquid was faintly visible on her skin.
It wasn't just on her body; some had even touched the corners of her mouth. The scent of Chen Erbao continuously filled her nostrils.
She realized fairy tales were all lies.
That bullshit about 'no field is ever overworked, only the ox can be worked to death' was a total scam.
Qiu Shuzhen felt like a whole roasted lamb, skewered from top to bottom.
Her flowing sweat hadn't just soaked her clothes; it had nearly drenched the bedding.
Qiu Shuzhen couldn't even think about standing up; she barely had the strength to breathe.
"My dear boy, please let your sister go."
"You're just too much."
"Are you sure I'm your first woman?"
Chen Erbao looked completely serious.
"If we don't count the ones in my dreams, then yes, you are."
Qiu Shuzhen gave him an exasperated look.
'Do dreams even count?'
Besides, her question had obviously been rhetorical.
Qiu Shuzhen just couldn't figure it out. How could Chen Erbao be so incredible when he had no experience?
"You're an absolute animal."
"You're about to make me pass out. Please, let your sister go."
Only then did Chen Erbao release Qiu Shuzhen, gently pulling her into his arms.
Feeling his warm embrace, Qiu Shuzhen swore this was the happiest day of her life.
"Er Bao, did you know?"
"The truth is, I've liked you for a long time."
"You're not like the other men. I've dreamed of being with you."
"But I know I'm not good enough for you."
As Qiu Shuzhen spoke, she began to cry softly.
Chen Erbao panicked and quickly wiped away her tears.
He said with a serious expression, "Sister Shuzhen."
"I can't marry you officially, but I promise I will never forget you. I'll do my absolute best to treat you well."
"I swear, if I fail, may lightning strike me—"
Before Chen Erbao could finish, Qiu Shuzhen quickly covered his mouth.
Seeing his earnest expression, Qiu Shuzhen broke into a tearful smile. "You silly boy."
"I was just feeling a little emotional. Why are you so worked up?"
Chen Erbao said, "Sister, I'm serious."
"Before, I could barely take care of myself, but things are different now."
"I promise I'll make sure you, and everyone who cares about me, can live a good life."
Qiu Shuzhen was stunned for a moment, then nodded forcefully. "I believe you."
She gave Chen Erbao a light kiss on the cheek. Just as she was about to say something to lighten the mood, she felt her thigh being slowly pushed up.
Qiu Shuzhen's expression changed. She quickly threw back the blanket, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"God, Er Bao, you recovered way too fast!"
Even Chen Erbao himself was shocked.
He felt like he had an endless supply of energy inside him.
He knew exactly why, of course.
He decisively rolled over and stared straight at Qiu Shuzhen. "Sister Shuzhen, I'm a simple guy. I don't know how to comfort you with words."
"But I'm hardworking."
Qiu Shuzhen was starting to panic.
"No, please, my dear boy, spare your sister."
But how could Chen Erbao let Qiu Shuzhen have her way?
"I am ready to fight to the death! How can you surrender first, Sister Shuzhen?"
"Sister Shuzhen, watch! First comes the glint of cold steel, then the spear strikes like a dragon!"
...
Two hours later, Qiu Shuzhen was completely spent. Seeing that Chen Erbao looked ready to go another round, she was on the verge of tears.
"Er Bao, please spare your sister."
"This piece of land has been in a drought for seven or eight years. It definitely needed some nourishing rain, but you can't just unleash a flood by breaking the dam."
"You have to let your sister rest a little."
Qiu Shuzhen had a love-hate relationship with Chen Erbao's 'weapon'.
Chen Erbao grinned. "Don't worry, Sister Shuzhen. I'm not planning to continue."
Qiu Shuzhen finally breathed a sigh of relief, but it was immediately followed by a twinge of disappointment.
Still, she had no intention of keeping Chen Erbao any longer. After all, it was getting late.
If he left any later, after the sun went down, and someone saw him leaving her house at this hour, the gossip would surely flare up again.
Chen Erbao was indeed planning to leave, but just as he finished getting dressed—
"Shuzhen, are you home?"
The voice was clear and lively, and Chen Erbao immediately knew who it belonged to.
It was Qin Lan, the wife of the village chief, Chen Daniu, and also Qiu Shuzhen's best friend.
Qiu Shuzhen spoke at once. "It's Sister Lan."
"We're screwed if she sees you in my house."
"Quick, hide!"
"Hide?"
Chen Erbao was dumbfounded.
"Where?"
Qiu Shuzhen was also starting to panic. Hearing the loud BANGING on the gate, she grew even more anxious. She glanced around frantically until her eyes suddenly lit up.
"Under the bed!"
Qiu Shuzhen had a bad back and couldn't sleep on a hard bed platform, so she had commissioned a wide, raised bed instead. There was just enough space to hide someone underneath.
"I just cleaned under there today, it's not dirty. Er Bao, I'm sorry to put you through this."
Since Qiu Shuzhen had put it that way, Chen Erbao couldn't really object. He grit his teeth and scrambled underneath.
Meanwhile, Qiu Shuzhen quickly straightened her clothes and the bedding. Once she was sure nothing looked out of place, she hurried to the entrance and opened the main gate.
Standing outside was none other than Qin Lan.
She had long, wavy, light-brown hair, and her big, dewy eyes seemed to gaze at everyone with deep affection. She was dressed in a white, semi-sheer blouse, a black leather skirt, and a pair of glossy black stockings that drew the eye to her long legs. In the late afternoon sun, she looked especially alluring.
Seeing Qiu Shuzhen's flustered expression, Qin Lan frowned. "What were you doing?"
"Why did it take you so long to open the door?"
Qiu Shuzhen made up a random excuse. "I was taking an afternoon nap, wasn't I?"
Qin Lan chuckled. "An afternoon nap?"
She leaned closer to Qiu Shuzhen and twitched her little nose. "This smell... doesn't seem like you were just napping."
Qiu Shuzhen's heart skipped a beat. Qin Lan said, "Fess up. Did you hide a man in here?"
Qiu Shuzhen immediately blushed.
"Sister Lan, what are you talking about?"
"You know as well as I do, there isn't a single man in Bailong Village that I'd even look twice at."
Afraid that Qin Lan would discover something if they continued on this topic, Qiu Shuzhen quickly changed the subject. "By the way, Sister Lan, you're practically the first lady of our Bailong Village."
"Aren't you usually busy as a bee? How do you have time to come visit me?"
"First lady?"
Qin Lan was amused.
She said as she walked into the house, "You wicked girl, you've learned how to tease your big sister, have you?"
"What kind of piddly-ass official is Chen Daniu? How busy could he possibly be?"
"The only thing he has to do every day is figure out what he should be doing."
"The sun hasn't even set, and who knows which little tramp he's off sleeping with now. I can't be bothered with him, it just pisses me off thinking about it. So, I came here to chat with you and get some peace and quiet."
As she spoke, Qin Lan entered the room.
Lying under the bed, Chen Erbao had a perfect view of a pair of stockinged feet encased in small, black patent-leather high heels.
Bailong Village was a notoriously poor village in Cyan Mountain Town. Forget paved roads; even the dirt paths were uneven. Because of this, the villagers mostly wore rubber or cloth shoes. The women, either due to the state of the roads or because of their farm work, would never choose to wear high heels.
But Qin Lan was the sole exception.
Even roads like these didn't seem to bother her, and as a result, she had long become a unique sight in Bailong Village.
Chen Erbao had never imagined he would get to observe this sight from such a close distance.
