Chen Erbao walked to the main gate and opened it, finding Fang Yi looking at him with a healthy, rosy complexion.
Jiang Yu and Song Yue followed behind him, fine beads of sweat dotting their foreheads.
"Elder Fang, you're up early too!"
Chen Erbao stepped aside and led the three of them inside.
"When you get old, you sleep less and wake up early. But for you to be up exercising at such a young age... You're a divine doctor, indeed. You truly understand the art of staying healthy!"
Of course Chen Erbao knew about staying healthy; his daily regimen couldn't be without its 'cherries' and 'Honey Peaches.'
He chuckled. "Let's go wait in the backyard. The food isn't ready yet."
The guests followed their host's lead. Fang Yi and his two apprentices trailed Chen Erbao to the backyard, where they sat on stools he brought out and admired the beautiful scenery as the morning mist began to dissipate from the mountain village.
The few medicinal herbs planted in Chen Erbao's backyard immediately caught Fang Yi's eye.
"Divine Doctor Chen, these stalks of Gastrodia are growing remarkably well... Huh? This looks like a hundred-year-old Gastrodia!"
The more Fang Yi looked, the more extraordinary he found them. He couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
Ever since stepping into the backyard, he had felt the air was much fresher. As a master of the medical arts, he was especially sensitive to environmental changes.
Chen Erbao smiled. "My company's main business is medicinal herbs. I have a bit of a knack for cultivating them!"
'Nourished by the Spiritual Qi, even the fierce guard dogs had grown much more robust, to say nothing of the medicinal herbs.'
"Incredible... Truly incredible!"
The more Fang Yi looked, the more astounded he became, clicking his tongue in admiration.
Song Yue and Jiang Yu had genuine skills of their own, so they could naturally see there was more to it. They could feel an indescribable sense of harmony in Chen Erbao's courtyard, as if this was how things were meant to be. It was all very profound.
This was especially true for Jiang Yu. Her large eyes sparkled as she looked at Chen Erbao with a hint of reverence.
Chen Erbao replied humbly, "You're too kind. I studied under an old traditional doctor in the mountains for many years as a child, which is how I acquired my current skills."
'This non-existent old doctor has helped me out of countless jams.'
Fang Yi had heard Chen Erbao mention this before and now asked in amazement, "To have taught a genius like you, Divine Doctor Chen, that senior must have been a grandmaster. May I ask where he is now?"
Chen Erbao sighed, feigning sadness. "My master passed away many years ago. He never told me his name, only imparted his skills to me!"
Fang Yi sighed at his words, a touch of regret in his voice. "Now that was a true master. It's a pity I never had the chance to meet him..."
Chen Erbao changed the subject. "Elder Fang, do you know about cultivating medicinal herbs as well?"
Fang Yi nodded slightly. "After running all over the country treating patients for so many years, learning to cultivate medicinal herbs was a necessary part of my studies. I'm just not as good as you. This Gastrodia of yours has truly absorbed the Spiritual Qi of the heavens and earth. It's the absolute finest quality!"
Chen Erbao laughed. "That's perfect! I've leased the mountain behind the village and am preparing to plant medicinal herbs on a large scale. When the time comes, Elder Fang, you can give me some pointers!"
Fang Yi gave a wry smile. "Divine Doctor Chen, you flatter me. With your abilities, how could you possibly need my guidance?"
Chen Erbao said earnestly, "One can always learn from others. Elder Fang, you're so experienced; there are naturally many areas where a junior like me can't compare. Besides, with all my medical knowledge, I can't even find a peer to exchange ideas with. Having you here is truly a wish come true for me!"
Flattered, Fang Yi's face was all smiles. "Very well, very well. No problem at all..."
The two of them sat on their stools, deep in pleasant conversation, while Jiang Yu and Song Yue served as attentive listeners nearby.
Before long, the meal was ready. Lin Rui ran over to call them to eat.
Breakfast was simple: congee and steamed buns with a few side dishes. Everyone enjoyed the meal.
After the meal, Fang Yi and his apprentices returned to the clinic to start their day. Chen Erbao, meanwhile, went to the factory to plan out his work.
'I have to go with Lin Rui to Binhai tomorrow. This trip might take a while, so I need to get everything in order.'
"Mr. Lin, the plans for the mountain are basically settled. Please prepare the medicinal herbs in advance. Have them delivered to Bailong Village in about ten days, and I'll start planting."
He called Lin Cheng to discuss the herb farm on the mountain.
Lin Cheng excitedly agreed, then hastily hung up. He immediately began arranging for Medicine King Hall to procure rare and valuable medicinal herbs from all over the country.
After a quick tour of the workshop, Chen Erbao headed for Bailong Mountain.
The original muddy, overgrown dirt path was gone. In its place was a straight, flat asphalt road that sloped gently upward toward the mountainside.
Riding his electric scooter, Chen Erbao soon reached the flat area on the mountainside.
Workers were busy swinging their shovels, clearing paths and digging earth, while Chen Dabao supervised from the side.
"Er Bao, we should be completely finished in a few days."
Chen Dabao had gotten quite a tan recently.
Chen Erbao looked at the dozens of acres of open grassland before him and nodded in satisfaction.
"Brother Da Bao, once the road is finished, get some people to till this land. Then, put up a fence around the perimeter. In the middle, build a small house to live in. We'll also need to run water pipes and electrical lines up here... Oh, and buy some more wolf-dogs to guard the place!"
Chen Erbao laid out his plan in an orderly fashion.
Chen Dabao noted everything down.
After looking around the mountain, he saw it was nearly noon. Chen Erbao returned home, ate lunch, took a short nap, and then sat down at his desk to begin writing out his medical notes.
'Since I've brought Elder Fang and his apprentices here, I have to give them something substantial. Otherwise, they'll surely grow resentful over time.'
'The Joyful Technique contained countless records of medical knowledge. Most of it involved the methods of Cultivators, with only a small portion dedicated to worldly medicine. But even that small portion would be enough for Elder Fang and the others to study for a lifetime.'
Chen Erbao compiled his notes, and in a flurry of writing, quickly penned several thousand words before heading to the village clinic.
Fang Yi and his two apprentices were in the middle of seeing a patient.
"Dr. Fang, I've been feeling a tightness in my chest recently..."
A woman was describing her symptoms.
After listening and taking her pulse, Fang Yi already had a complete grasp of her condition.
He was about to write a prescription when he saw Chen Erbao walk in, and his eyes lit up.
"Divine Doctor Chen! Since you're free, would you be willing to demonstrate your acupuncture technique again so we can learn from you?"
'The woman's illness could also be treated with acupuncture, but at my skill level, the results would be slow to appear.'
Chen Erbao had come to deliver his notes anyway, so hearing Fang Yi's request, he smiled and stepped forward with his acupuncture needles. "Let's just call it a friendly exchange... I'll take her pulse first."
'In truth, I'm not very good at taking pulses. I just use it as an opportunity to scan the patient's body with my Spiritual Power.'
'It's far more accurate than pulse diagnosis. No matter what complicated ailment the patient has, I can see it with perfect clarity.'
A quick scan with his Spiritual Power told him everything he needed to know. He asked the woman to remove her top and took out his acupuncture needles.
"Her condition is a stagnation in the heart meridian, which is obstructing the flow of qi and blood. The goal is to clear the blockage. We'll start by finding the corresponding acupoints..."
