Chen Erbao stood with his feet slightly apart, his hands held flat in front of him in an archaic martial arts stance. As the Spiritual Qi in his veins and meridians rumbled, his entire body's temperature rose rapidly.
"Hah!"
With a low shout, he fiercely smashed his fists into the air before him.
BANG!
A faint pop of displaced air echoed through the living room.
Chen Erbao stared at his bulging, veiny arms, his face flushed with excitement and a sharp glint in his eyes.
'Finally! The Dragon Elephant Divine Fist has broken through to the Power of Three Elephants!'
With the force of a ton behind each punch, he could twist and deform solid steel in just three strikes.
'Such power is terrifyingly immense. No number of ordinary people can pose a threat to me now. Aside from modern weaponry and opponents on my level, I have no enemies left!'
Chen Erbao slowly swung his fists, familiarizing himself with this incredibly fierce power. At the same time, he employed the bizarre Misty Step, his entire form melting into the air, traceless and unseen.
'If I fought Chuck again now, it would only take a single move to kill him!'
After practicing his forms for a while, Chen Erbao's elevated body temperature had him steaming. He strolled to the bathroom for a shower. When he came out, he found that Lin Rui was still asleep.
Chen Erbao walked to the bedside and looked at Lin Rui's slightly flushed face as she slept soundly. A warm smile touched his lips, and he turned to leave the room.
He went downstairs for breakfast, gave some instructions to Ivic, and then drove by himself to Antique Street.
Choosing the nearest street, Chen Erbao resumed his search for Spirit-Containing Objects.
"Come one, come all! Take a look! An Eight-sided Han Sword once used by Emperor Wu of Han himself! Worth every penny…"
The street vendors on both sides were still shouting their utterly ridiculous spiels. Chen Erbao found it amusing, but what was even funnier was that people were actually stopping to look!
'Fucking hell. If that thing was really used by Emperor Wu of Han, the vendor would be hauled in for questioning the second after he shouted it.'
This street mostly sold weapons and armor. Some looked archaic and imposing, others were covered in rust. Although Chen Erbao wasn't an expert, he had a feeling there might be some genuine articles among them.
However, he wasn't interested in any of that. He walked halfway down the street without encountering a single decent Spirit-Containing Object.
He found a few items that had a trace of Spiritual Qi, but it was too faint to be of any value.
Chen Erbao continued on, stopping intermittently. During this time, Lin Rui woke up and called him. He told her to wait for him at the hotel and kept browsing.
Around noon, Chen Erbao stopped in front of a shop and looked up to examine it.
The shop was called the Divine Weapon Room. Standing at the entrance, he could see many weapons displayed inside—sabers, spears, swords, halberds, axes, tomahawks, hooks, and forks. It seemed to have every weapon imaginable.
His interest piqued, Chen Erbao stepped inside.
To the left were long, heavy weapons: long spears, iron hammers, maces, greatswords, halberds, and the like. Every one of them was so covered in rust that its original form was unclear.
To the right were various Daggers, short blades, throwing darts, iron chains, and other such items, all with strange styles and peculiar designs.
Chen Erbao swept the area with his Divine Sense but didn't find a single Spirit-Containing Object. However, several swords displayed on the wall behind the counter caught his serious attention.
There were about ten of them, all with modern designs. From blade to hilt, they were spotless. The intricate engravings on the metal were clearly visible. Some of the longswords lacked a Sword Scabbard, revealing razor-sharp edges that glinted blindingly in the sunlight.
His Divine Sense swept over them, and although he clearly detected no fluctuation of Spiritual Power, Chen Erbao couldn't shake the feeling that these were no ordinary items.
Judging by their appearance, they should have been modern replicas; Chen Erbao even saw a QR code on the hilt of one sword.
But some of the longswords also seemed to possess a touch of ancient charm.
All in all, it was an indescribable, inexplicable feeling that drew his gaze.
The shopkeeper had been lying behind the counter scrolling on his phone. He hadn't greeted Chen Erbao enthusiastically upon entry, but when he saw him stop to look at the longswords, he sat up.
Pushing the old-fashioned glasses up the bridge of his nose, the shopkeeper cleared his throat and said, "Good sir, are you perhaps looking to purchase a fine weapon?"
His speech was full of antiquated flair, like something out of a historical drama.
Chen Erbao glanced at him and nodded slightly. "These swords of yours look interesting."
The shopkeeper was a thin man in his thirties with a plain face, but his eyes were very bright, and a sharp glint flashed in them as they moved.
"Of course! This shop absolutely does not deal in junk. Everything here is the real deal, top-quality stuff. Take this longsword behind me, for example. It was just recently dug up from… I mean, acquired from a friend!"
The shopkeeper, whether intentionally or not, had revealed the longsword's origins.
'Was it just dug out of the ground?'
Chen Erbao thought to himself, shifting his gaze over to it.
The longsword's hilt looked extremely old, engraved with intricate patterns. A bit of grime was visible where the patterns intersected.
As for the blade, it was encased in a dilapidated Sword Scabbard, making it impossible to see its condition.
Chen Erbao frowned.
'Why am I sensing a trace of Spiritual Qi from this Sword Scabbard?'
"Can I take it down to have a look?"
Chen Erbao asked.
The shopkeeper just smiled and shook his head. "I can't let you do that. If you like it, you buy it. If not, then that's that. In the antique business, we can't just let customers handle the merchandise…"
Hearing this, Chen Erbao said no more and simply observed it carefully with his Divine Sense.
The Sword Scabbard was a dull gray, as if coated in a layer of dust. But Chen Erbao felt it wasn't dust; it had a substantial texture, as if something had been smeared on it…
He hesitated for a moment before asking, "How much?"
"Three hundred thousand. The price is firm."
The shopkeeper replied without even lifting his head, having settled back into his lounge chair.
An ordinary person would have turned around and walked out immediately upon hearing that price, and Chen Erbao was no exception.
'Three hundred thousand? You've got some fucking nerve!'
Chen Erbao wanted to leave, but he had a gut feeling that this longsword might truly be no ordinary item! Especially the Sword Scabbard!
After much hesitation, he gently raised a finger and flicked a faint wisp of Spiritual Power toward the sword.
SWOOSH...
The Spiritual Power shot through the air and struck the Sword Scabbard with moderate force, but then something strange happened.
The force Chen Erbao had used should have been enough to make the Sword Scabbard vibrate slightly, allowing him to get a better sense of what it was. But when the wisp of Spiritual Power touched the Sword Scabbard, it vanished without a trace, like a clay ox sinking into the sea!
Chen Erbao was startled. He stared blankly for a moment, and seeing that the shopkeeper wasn't paying attention to him, he flicked out another burst of Finger Wind.
The force was much greater this time.
The Finger Wind slammed into it ferociously, but the strange scene repeated itself!
The potent Spiritual Power seemed to be absorbed by the Sword Scabbard, which didn't make the slightest sound or movement!
Chen Erbao was utterly astonished. He frowned in thought for a moment, then pulled out his bank card.
"Charge it!"
