Chen Erbao gritted his teeth, wrenched the steering wheel, and shot off the road, plunging into the grasslands to the side.
The jeeps followed close behind, smashing through the roadblock.
Through his one remaining rearview mirror, Chen Erbao saw a man in the passenger seat of a jeep pull out a rifle, lean out, and open fire on his Hummer.
"RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT..."
The dense gunfire riddled Chen Erbao's Hummer with holes, causing it to swerve from side to side.
Chen Erbao had never been in a firefight like this. 'So this is the style of these ruthless borderlanders!'
A savage grin spread across his face as he slammed the accelerator to the floor. The Hummer roared, once again widening the distance between them.
The car from Vienna was undeniably a fine machine. It wasn't just expensive; its speed was first-rate.
The two jeeps were quickly left behind as Chen Erbao sped straight toward a dense forest in the distance.
He glanced left and right and saw several more all-terrain vehicles closing in to flank him.
'The Xie Family... You want to play? Fine, let's play.'
Viewed from above, a lone Hummer sped toward the mountain forest, followed closely by three jeeps, with a dozen or so all-terrain vehicles pursuing from the left and right.
It was a hair's breadth from disaster!
"SCREECH!"
As the Hummer screeched to a halt, the pursuing vehicles began to slow down. Finally, the cars from three directions stopped several dozen meters away, trapping Chen Erbao's Hummer in the middle.
Ahead of him was the forest; to his left, right, and rear were his pursuers.
"This guy's a pro! Just open fire and gun him down!"
This group was well-trained; they were clearly battle-hardened thugs.
"RAT-TAT-TAT..."
Dozens of rifles aimed at the Hummer at once. After a volley of gunfire, the Hummer's body was turned into a sieve.
The men got out of their cars and cautiously approached.
The leader took a few steps closer. Hearing no sound, he gestured to the man beside him with his eyes.
"Go check it out!"
One of the underlings, clutching his rifle, cautiously approached the front of the car. He peeked inside and shouted, "Boss, he's not here!"
The leader's expression changed, and he looked toward the dense forest ahead.
But the forest was lush and the vegetation thick; they couldn't see anything.
"Fuck! After him!"
He personally rushed to the front of the car and saw the driver's seat was empty. Furious, he immediately gave chase into the dense forest.
At that moment, Chen Erbao was lying prone at the edge of the dense forest, a longsword on his back. He flicked a finger.
A bolt of Spiritual Power shot through the air, striking the distant car's fuel tank and slicing it open.
A spark appeared, and in the next moment, the entire Hummer erupted in an explosion, flying into the air.
The massive shockwave sent the nearby men in black sprawling to the ground.
A few unlucky ones were instantly impaled by flying shrapnel and stopped breathing entirely.
Against these hardened thugs who killed without remorse, Chen Erbao showed not a shred of mercy.
As the Hummer crashed heavily back to the ground, Chen Erbao kicked off with his legs. He shot out like a sharp sword. The black cloth on the longsword behind him was torn away, and a blinding white light flashed through the air.
"SHLICK!"
The two assassins closest to Chen Erbao didn't even have time to cry out before their carotid arteries were sliced open by his sword. Dark red blood sprayed out, and they fell silently to the ground.
"He's over there!"
The leader hadn't been killed by the car explosion, but his head was spinning. He saw Chen Erbao rush out with a longsword in hand and raised his rifle to fire, but then his vision blurred, and Chen Erbao vanished completely.
His eyes widened as he looked around in a panic. "Goddammit, keep your eyes peeled! A man that big, where the hell did he go?"
Of the hundred or so assassins, about eighty were still combat-ready. They cautiously moved closer to their leader, warily scanning their surroundings.
Chen Erbao's figure was like a phantom, weaving continuously through the crowd.
"He's he—"
One man had just started to shout when his world spun, and then he breathed no more.
Wielding his longsword and using his special footwork, Chen Erbao moved like a ghost, twisting and turning to evade bullets as he began to reap lives.
"Shoot him!"
The leader had never seen such a bizarre scene. His eyes could follow Chen Erbao's shadow, but his gun couldn't keep up. Every burst of fire missed, and some of his own men were even hit by friendly fire.
"Don't hit our own men! Switch to knives!"
Firearms were powerful, but they were less effective in close-quarters combat.
A bullet is fast, but it takes time to raise a gun and aim.
The reason true Grandmasters weren't afraid of ordinary guns wasn't that they could dodge bullets. It was because, in the fraction of a second it took a shooter to raise their gun and aim, the Grandmaster had already predicted their opponent's move and dodged ahead of time.
This created the illusion of dodging bullets. In reality, no one could truly dodge a bullet, not even a Grandmaster!
As he weaved through the crowd, the assassins held their fire, afraid of hitting their own men. But before they could even draw the daggers at their waists, Chen Erbao had already claimed their lives.
Chen Erbao's eyes were calm, his mind crystal clear.
He was terrifyingly calm.
Ever since he began cultivating the Joyful Technique, he had never experienced such a vicious battle!
The thick scent of blood in the air stirred the violent urges within him, leaving him with only a single thought.
Kill!
As heads fell one by one, the assassins' numbers dwindled rapidly. From the initial seventy or eighty men, only thirty-some remained.
The ground was littered with corpses, mixed with blood and entrails, staining the earth red.
The leader was scared witless by now. From start to finish, he had never gotten a clear look at Chen Erbao. All he could see was a human shadow moving at high speed. The rifles, whose power no flesh-and-blood being could withstand, were now mere ornaments.
'If you can't hit the target, what's the difference between a rifle and a fire poker!'
"Form a circle!"
When only a dozen or so men were left, he finally regained his composure. He called for everyone to gather close, hoping to find safety in numbers.
But just as the words left his mouth, his vision went black, and he felt a cold sensation on his neck.
In the last moment of his life, he saw a pair of ice-cold eyes.
"I..." GURGLE...
He wanted to scream, but only blood gushed from his severed throat. Finally, he collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
Two minutes later, Chen Erbao stopped, panting slightly. A vicious glint flashed in his eyes as he looked at the corpses covering the ground.
A tiger that has tasted human flesh is different from a zoo tiger. It's an intangible aura that lets you know at a glance whether you're facing a sick cat or a man-eating beast.
'They just had to court death!'
Gritting his teeth, Chen Erbao dug a stray bullet out of his arm. Nourished by his Spiritual Qi, the muscle quickly knit itself back together, and the bleeding stopped.
He had originally planned to leave Lijiang, but now, Chen Erbao had changed his mind.
He was going to make the Xie Family pay!
Chen Erbao sheathed his longsword, got into one of the all-terrain vehicles, and sped away.
Not long after Chen Erbao left, a sedan arrived at the scene.
