The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 263: Steel Mill Battle (2)

Hua Yueqing led Chen Fang and Lu Mountain forward as if the area were completely undefended. Taking the lead, she brandished a pair of snow-white daggers. Her graceful figure was like a phantom under the cover of night, and she reached the main gate in a matter of seconds.

She twisted her body at unbelievable angles, dodging the incoming bullets. Her two daggers flashed out like lightning as she weaved through the crowd.

With every strike, a life was extinguished.

Chen Fang and Lu Mountain followed close behind. The three of them were like hungry tigers pouncing on sheep. In just one short minute, ten fanatical, gun-wielding thugs lay dead in pools of their own blood.

Rainwater mingled with the dark red blood, staining the ground black.

The howling wind diluted the heavy stench of blood, eventually carrying it away into the night.

By the time Chen Erbao arrived, no one was left alive at the gate.

He casually picked up a rifle, swapped out the magazine, and charged toward the sound of gunfire.

When the Americans first built the Steel Mill, their intention was to make it the largest steel production base in Dian Nan. However, due to certain unavoidable circumstances, they ultimately had to pull their investment, leaving behind a large amount of heavy machinery that was too inconvenient to move. It had all been lying dormant in this small border town for years.

The dozen or so towering furnaces had long since gone cold, but the steel piled up everywhere inside the factory buildings still gave off a cold glint.

Two slender figures darted among the structures.

"Senior Sister, they're here!"

Song Yao shouted the warning as she ran, but just as her voice faded, a loud BANG erupted from a steel frame to her left.

"BANG!"

A dark, shadowy figure seemed to appear out of thin air, ramming straight for Song Yao.

Song Yao's pupils contracted. She instinctively curled her body, her powerful, agile legs kicking off the ground to lunge forward and evade.

"BOOM!"

The figure crashed into the spot where Song Yao had just been standing, twisting the finger-thick metal bars of the railing.

Song Yao steadied herself. The instant the burly man landed, she suddenly drew a soft whip from her waist and lashed out.

Among mêlée weapons, sabers, spears, staves, and swords are the most common, while whips are extremely rare.

For one, this class of weapon is incredibly difficult to wield.

It not only requires immense talent but also an experienced master to teach its use; otherwise, attempting to practice it would only lead to self-injury.

The tip of Song Yao's whip was embedded with a gleaming, jet-black iron dart. One look was enough to know that a single strike from such a weapon would be enough to crack a person's skull wide open.

But the ambushing strongman showed no fear. Before he had even fully steadied himself, he reached out with one hand to grab the whip. His calloused palm astonishingly caught the whip just behind the iron dart at its tip, bringing the high-speed weapon to an abrupt halt in midair.

Song Yao had no time to be shocked. She felt an immense force from the other end of the whip, pulling her stumbling forward. Immediately after, she heard the whistle of air beside her ear.

'Not good!'

She pushed off with her feet again, gathering her Inner Strength in her palms. She retreated, using the whip she still held to swing around the burly man.

"CLANG!"

The burly man threw a sweeping kick that grazed her clothes and slammed into the nearby iron railing, instantly bending it into a U-shape.

His move having missed, the burly man remained unfazed. He pulled a Dagger from his waist and gave chase, swinging it wildly at Song Yao's figure in the darkness.

Just as Song Yao was reeling in horror, Xia Qingxue circled back. With her long, slender leg, she flicked up a piece of rebar from the ground and kicked it.

The rebar went whistling through the air, aimed straight for the burly man's head.

The burly man had no choice but to abandon his Dagger attack and twist his body to dodge.

He had just dodged the piercing rebar when he heard three faint whooshes from the darkness.

Almost instinctively, he swung his Dagger in front of him.

"TING! TING! TING!"

With three soft clinks, he knocked the unknown objects away.

'A Hidden Weapon!'

His expression turned grim. He was about to pull Song Yao back in for close-quarters combat, preventing the person in the shadows from attacking again, when his hand suddenly went numb. The long whip he was holding slipped from his grasp.

He looked down and saw a gleaming Silver Needle stuck in the back of his hand. In just two short seconds, his entire arm had gone numb.

'It's poisoned!'

He hurriedly used his other hand to strike a series of acupressure points on his arm, sealing them to prevent the poison from spreading.

"Junior Sister, let's go!"

Her attack successful, Xia Qingxue grabbed the newly steadied Song Yao and prepared to flee.

"Where do you think you're going!"

With a furious roar, two more figures descended from the sky, landing heavily on a steel-plated platform.

"BOOM!"

The five-meter-high platform shuddered from the impact. The three men now formed a triangle, trapping Song Yao and Xia Qingxue.

"Hand over the item, and we'll let you live!"

The leader, a bald man, spoke in a bone-chilling voice, his dark eyes scanning the two women, as if trying to figure out where they had hidden the item.

To his disappointment, however, Xia Qingxue and Song Yao were both dressed simply, with nowhere obvious to conceal anything.

"In your dreams!"

Song Yao, with her fiery temper, cursed angrily and cracked her whip through the air.

"Not handing it over? Heh heh. Once I capture you and strip you naked, we'll see if you're still not talking!"

The bald man sneered, a lecherous glint in his eyes as he looked at the two women.

As the three of them spoke, yet another figure appeared nearby. This person wore a wide black robe, their entire body hidden in its shadows.

"Gu Li, enough talk. There's trouble behind us. Take them down quickly so we can retreat!"

The man's tone held no respect for the bald man; he was clearly not a subordinate.

Gu Li was the bald man with the eagle tattooed on his head. Hearing this, he no longer hesitated. He pulled a large, wide machete from his back and charged at Xia Qingxue.

The other two Stewards followed him.

The black-robed man who had arrived last stood coldly to the side, ready to prevent any unexpected situations.

Gu Li took the lead, moving so fast it was almost like teleportation. He crossed a distance of several dozen meters in an instant, appearing before Xia Qingxue. His great machete came slashing viciously from the side, looking as if it would cleave her in two.

Unflustered, Xia Qingxue flicked up a piece of rebar from the ground and gripped it with both hands.

"CLANG...!"

The machete struck the rebar, sending a shower of sparks flying.

Although the rebar wasn't severed, the tremendous force sent Xia Qingxue flying sideways, her face turning pale.

Strength was not her forte, and she was clearly unused to dealing with such a wide, sweeping, power-based fighting style.

But while still in midair, she raised her hand and fired several Silver Needles, forcing Gu Li to twist aside to dodge. At least this prevented him from pressing his advantage.

One of the other two Stewards split off to deal with Song Yao, while the second one charged at Xia Qingxue from behind.

Xia Qingxue's body only came to a stop when she slammed into a hard steel plate. Her face flushed then paled, and she couldn't stop herself from spitting out a mouthful of blood.

The Steward's fist was already upon her.

Xia Qingxue pushed off with her feet, leaping into the air. She landed on a steel plate and then disappeared into the jungle of steel frames.

Gu Li pursued her relentlessly. Although the environment restricted the use of his machete, he was so close that his simple stabs and thrusts were enough to keep Xia Qingxue desperately dodging, every step fraught with peril.
