The two of them bantered and teased each other as they made their way deep into Antique Street.
This area was all storefronts, different from the hawkers with their stalls and shouted sales pitches up front. These were proper, established shops that had some real goods.
But even so, finding a real treasure still came down to having a keen eye.
The pair walked into a shop with a sign that read "Shennong Square." The moment they stepped inside, they were greeted by the faint scent of medicinal herbs.
"Atractylodes, kudzu root, motherwort..."
Chen Erbao was a village doctor, so he was very familiar with medicinal herbs. On top of that, thanks to the insights from the Joyful Technique, he could identify most of the herbs by smell alone.
Lin Zhiqing also knew a fair bit about herbs. After all, she was once bold enough to try concocting her own medicine, even if she did fail...
Her little nose twitched a few times, and she asked in surprise:
"Are they mixing a prescription? But the medicinal properties seem a bit jumbled."
She could only identify a few of the more common herbs, but from what she knew, they didn't seem to go well together.
"Oh? Honored guests have arrived, my apologies for not greeting you sooner. I didn't realize you both were so knowledgeable about herbs."
At the back of the shop was a small door that led to a courtyard, which was where the scent had been wafting from.
Hearing their conversation, a clear and pleasant voice drifted from the courtyard. A moment later, a woman in a light green dress pushed the door open and walked out.
Chen Erbao focused his gaze on her, and his eyes lit up.
The woman's skin was as white as snow, radiant and smooth. Her features were delicate, her complexion fair. On her makeup-free face, the faint blue of her veins was almost visible.
A tight-fitting dress perfectly accentuated her flawless figure. The high peaks on her chest were firm and round, leading down to an alluring S-curve that cinched to a narrow waist. Her full, rounded bottom swayed slightly as she walked, utterly captivating.
'What a beautiful woman, and with such an extraordinary aura!'
Chen Xiaobao gave an unruly twitch.
Noticing Chen Erbao's eyes sizing her up, the woman's delicate brows furrowed slightly, but they quickly relaxed.
Lin Zhiqing also noticed Chen Erbao's wandering eyes. She reached out with a slender hand, pinched the soft flesh of his waist, and gave it a vicious twist.
"OW! What was that for?"
Chen Erbao cried out in pain.
Lin Zhiqing looked away, refusing to acknowledge him.
'That dog! He was just bullying me this afternoon, and now he's already ogling another beautiful woman!'
The woman in the green dress paid them no mind and said with a slight smile:
"Are you two looking to buy something?"
"Just looking."
Lin Zhiqing replied coldly.
Although they were both equally beautiful, the other woman's superior aura seemed to put Lin Zhiqing at a slight disadvantage.
'This is so annoying!'
Chen Erbao cleared his throat.
"We're just browsing. Please, go on with what you were doing. Don't mind us."
The woman in the green dress smiled and nodded.
The shop wasn't large. Strange and curious objects were displayed on both sides, from last-century farm tools to some unfamiliar antiques of dubious authenticity.
"What's wrong? Are you jealous?"
Seeing Lin Zhiqing sulking in a corner by herself, Chen Erbao sidled up to her and whispered.
Lin Zhiqing snorted.
"Don't flatter yourself. Why would I be jealous over you?!"
Chen Erbao glanced back and saw the woman looking down at a book. He leaned in close to Lin Zhiqing's face and said with a wicked grin:
"If you're not jealous, then give me a kiss. Then I'll believe you."
His handsome face suddenly loomed before her, making Lin Zhiqing subconsciously step back. But the antiques were right behind her, leaving her with nowhere to retreat.
Blushing, she glanced left and right. Seeing that no one was paying attention, she said, flustered and annoyed:
"I told you I'm not jealous..."
"Then kiss me."
"That's ridiculous, why would I kiss you... Mmph..."
Seeing how stubborn she was being, Chen Erbao took the initiative and kissed her, latching onto her soft lips and sucking on them relentlessly.
Forcefully kissed in public again, Lin Zhiqing's shy gaze darted around, terrified of being discovered.
"No one can see us."
Chen Erbao reassured her, his hand kneading her firm, springy bottom, unable to get enough.
Lin Zhiqing couldn't bring herself to resist, afraid of attracting the green-skirted woman's attention. She could only grip Chen Erbao's clothes tightly with her small hands, her eyes pleading.
"We can kiss when we get back... Stop..."
She felt his hand trying to sneak under her clothes and, terrified, quickly begged for mercy.
Only then did Chen Erbao release her lips. He gave her bottom another squeeze.
"You're the one who said it. We'll kiss more when we get back."
Lin Zhiqing lowered her head, her face crimson, and said nothing.
After teasing Lin Zhiqing, Chen Erbao finally took her hand and started looking around the shop.
There weren't many items in the shop, but every single one of them emanated a faint Spiritual Qi, which made Chen Erbao very curious.
This was the reason he had chosen to enter this particular shop.
He had sensed an unusual aura from the entrance.
"Miss, are you the owner of this shop?"
Chen Erbao had browsed the whole shop without finding anything special, so he asked the woman who was reading at the counter.
The woman in the green dress looked up and said softly:
"This is my master's shop. He hasn't been feeling well recently, so I'm helping look after it for a few days."
"I see."
A thought struck Chen Erbao.
'Master?'
'Who still uses such an old-fashioned title these days?'
That, combined with the faint, almost imperceptible Spiritual Qi in the shop, sent his imagination running wild.
If not for the foundation provided by his Joyful Technique, he probably wouldn't have been able to sense such thin Spiritual Qi at all.
Just as he was about to leave, Chen Erbao's gaze fell upon a Jade Pendant on the counter behind the woman.
The Jade Pendant was a deep, lustrous green all over, with a strange pattern that looked like a tadpole, or maybe a fish.
"Miss, how much for that Jade Pendant?"
Chen Erbao asked out of curiosity.
The woman glanced back, a flicker of surprise in her eyes, but she quickly became composed and said:
"Fifty thousand."
"Fifty thousand??"
Chen Erbao was stunned.
He had only asked on a whim because the Jade Pendant caught his eye, but this woman was a total shark!
'Not just a few hundred, but fifty thousand?'
'Who does she think I am, some rich idiot?'
"The price is non-negotiable."
After saying this, the woman ignored him.
Chen Erbao shook his head. 'I'd have to be a moron to spend fifty thousand on this.'
Just as he was about to leave, Lin Zhiqing slapped the counter.
"Fifty thousand, right? I'll take it."
"???"
The woman looked up at Lin Zhiqing, took the bank card, swiped it immediately, and then handed over the Jade Pendant.
Chen Erbao was still stunned while the two of them completed the transaction.
"Are you crazy? Spending fifty thousand on a Jade Pendant?"
he said, grabbing Lin Zhiqing's arm with wide eyes.
Lin Zhiqing pouted.
"It's none of your business. It's my money, and I'll spend it how I want!"
Chen Erbao was speechless.
And just like that, the two of them drove back to the high-rise building.
The little incident from before was already forgotten. Sitting in the passenger seat, Chen Erbao's gaze fell on her alluring, black-stockinged legs, and he started to get worked up again. His unruly hand found its way onto her thigh.
"I'm driving, don't mess around!"
Lin Zhiqing looked at him and said sternly.
Chen Erbao didn't dare go too far, contenting himself with just enjoying the sensation.
"You drive, and I'll touch. They won't interfere with each other."
Lin Zhiqing shot him a glare. Seeing that he wouldn't stop, she had no choice but to let him be, though her grip on the steering wheel tightened, terrified she might accidentally crash into a lamppost.
