The Scowling Sidekick: A My Hero Academia Fanfiction

After the training, we went back to the others, who were spectating, and had our match review before the start of the next match. I glare at Mr. Depresso, but Sir Floof’s ribbon, which is still on me as we move, is keeping me calm. That damn annoying loud-mouth blondie from the other class is boasting about an overwhelming victory, and the spiky bastard yells at him, “Dumbass! Don’t you know that overwhelming means a crushing defeat?! They barely won!” The blonde bastard says back, “Sounds like something an inferior person would say. It isn’t your fault our class is superior in every way.” The spiky bastard starts making those tiny explosions and says, “You need to be taught your place, blondie! Now die! DIE! DIE! DIE!”

He yells as he runs towards the annoying blondie, which causes All Might to step in and hold him back at arm's length with ease, like an adult would a child. All the while, Kendo groggily walks over to the blonde bastard, knocks him out, and drags him away. It is a funny sight that lightens the darkness in my heart. Aya-chan runs to me, “Kai-chan!” She hugs me, and I squeeze her back. She whispers in my ear, “Are you ok?” I nod and whisper, “I am better thanks to Toru and Sir Floof.” Ayaka draws a large bean bag chair in a sketchpad, takes me inside it, and holds me in her lap while wrapping her arms around me. She whispers in my ear, “You did a very good job. Shinso’s ability surprised us all. Nobody knew that he could imitate voices, so there was nothing you could have done at the time with the knowledge you had.”

I blush furiously at her praise, and she giggles while looking around my shoulder to see my red face and ears. Once the spiky bastard is calm again, I see All Might take the nerd off somewhere to talk privately in 3D, and that spiky bastard follows them. Mr. Aizawa gives an unbiased review of the events, while Mr. Vlad King does the opposite, obviously favoring his class. Toru holds the sketchpad we are sitting in and sits criss-cross-applesauce listening to them. Mr. Aizawa says at the end, “Shinso may be more inexperienced than you all, but his Observation Haki and quick reaction time made him a threat.” One of the people in the other class says, “That is our class rep for you. She always comes up with the best plans.”

Kendo says while rubbing the back of her neck (where I hit her), “It was all Shinso. He took my plan and put it into action while I was incapacitated. We couldn’t have won without everyone’s contribution.” Miss Midnight, who was listening to everything, said with a blushing face in that flirtatious manner she does, “Such passionate talk is so stimulating!” Mr. Vlad King gets things back on track, “Alright, students. Next group take your places.” He then explains how the next round of students will have different base locations due to the destruction of our last battle. Everything was moved two blocks over.

Even though the faculty advised them to try not to make a mess of things, that gray, spiky dude starts wrecking the place almost immediately, announcing their presence. Todoroki and the others run to their location, and he unleashes a powerful yet calculated ice attack that immobilizes their team. Ida went to run on the ice and use his ultimate, Recipro-Burst, but he sinks into the ice like it is quicksand because of that weird face dude (he is currently wearing a black mask) on the opposing team, making the ground soft. Ojiro jumps around and gets caught on a softened pipe. There is a guy making his arms and legs spin like drills, drilling into Ojiro’s armament tail.

Ida escapes the softened ice only to get caught again, and he sinks and gets frozen in solid ice up to his neck. He breaks out with his recipro-burst and starts hitting him quickly, still at full throttle, coming at him from all sorts of angles. Weird Face admits defeat, yet escapes underground using his softening quirk to evade capture. Ojiro is going toe-to-toe with that drill dude, and both are cut up pretty bad. Ojiro is using his Iron Tail quirk mixed in with his armament and seems to have an edge because of his additional quirk. Ida comes out of nowhere, grabs the drill dude, speeds off while he still has his Recipro-Burst activated, and imprisons him.

That gray spiky dude has Todoroki on the ropes and forces him to use his fire. However, it seems it powered up the other guy rather than causing damage. The gray dude grabs Todoroki, and Todoroki starts flaming on the left side of his body, and the flames continue to grow. It seems to be too hot for spiky, and he jumps back, and it gets so hot that it busts the camera. Another camera, farther away, turns to monitor the fight, and we see that spiky head fist fighting Todoroki as he holds those large flames. On another camera, Shoji is fighting the horn chick who is shooting a fuck ton of horns at him, and he punches them with his many arms.

Ojiro spins a tail attack at her, then restrains her and holds her horns in place, preventing her from shooting them out again. Out of nowhere, the weird face dude makes another appearance. He may not be visible, but his quirk activated around our classmates who captured the horn girl. Ojiro spins with a lot of force to throw that weird face back, and Shoji rescues him from the softened ground. The horn chick gets some of the horns that were out and stabs Ojiro in the tail and starts to make them both fly towards their team’s prison and busts the door down in the process. Effectively imprisoning Ojiro.

Todoroki looks like he is about to hit Spiky with a very hot attack, and that weird face guy makes yet another appearance to throw Todoroki off his game. Ida saves the day and runs up and uses his Mega Kick quirk, kicking him in the head, which shatters his helmet, exposing his weird face. Ida catches Todoroki as Weird Face falls unconscious, then Ida runs far away to get Todoroki to safety. That spiky dude falls unconscious shortly after. Ida still has Recipro-Burst activated, so once he gets Todoroki to a safe place, he goes to grab the two unconscious opponents on the other team. The horn chick tries to save them, but is no match for Ida’s speed, and Ida imprisons them both. Leaving only the horn girl remaining.

Shoji and Ida work together, and quirk-walk up the tower to get as close to her as they can, then Shoji launches Ida into the air, where he uses his Mega Kick quirk on her mid-air, knocking her out of the sky. She is still conscious and bleeding, and Shoji quickly incapacitates her with his Submission quirk. Our class won that round. Mr. Vlad King begins his biased commentary again and sighs into his microphone, “Oh, great. Class 1-A wins… again. Since a lot of them are unconscious, we will hold off on their review and start the next match,” He says with an annoyed tone.

Sero started off by setting tape traps for the opposing team while Jiro was on recon. The spiky bastard makes them stop and tosses them some grenades and tells them to follow him. They start running, and I can tell Bakugo’s Observation Haki is engaged. He stops and says quietly (for him anyway), “Ears! I sense someone. Do your thing to make sure there aren’t more of them.” She sighs and uses her quirk, and something seems to be wrong since she isn’t saying anything. Bakugo sees her struggling to pinpoint their locations and doesn’t even ask her and says, “Look alive, and kill them all!” As he says that he looks right and uses his explosions to fly and attack the chick from the other class, who can break herself up into five bajillion pieces that she can freely control.

That girl used her quirk to throw off Jiro’s quirk by making her body tap on pipes all around. While Bakugo is keeping that fragmenting lizard chick occupied, Sero makes more traps here. Though the other team uses tape traps against them, covering them with glue from a dude from class 1-B. The green guy with blades on his forearms slices through a lot of the pipes overhead, and they start to fall, bringing the glued-up tape with the heavy pieces, ready to trap them. Bakugo blasts it all away with his explosions. The blade guy targets Jiro, and Bakugo uses his speed to cover for her and blasts the blade dude away.

The other team withdraws, and Team Bakugo resumes recon. They spot the other team, storm in, and the weld guy sneaks up on Bakugo, welding his gauntlets to trap him. Sato uses his strength quirk to remove the metal bindings, and since they were also attached to his gauntlets, they were destroyed in the process. That didn’t stop him one bit, though, since he used his speed with his explosions to catch up to the glue guy, and he clears the glue with his explosions while Sato comes in right behind to put him in a submission hold. Jiro and Sero were able to capture the weld guy in Sero’s tape. Sero then starts taping up several of the fragmenting lizard chick’s body on the pipes and lays a trap for her by attaching a grenade to a piece of her body that she took right to herself. She noticed it at the last second and dodged, only to be met by Bakugo, who blew her up.

That was the last defining moment of the match, and they captured all their opponents in under 5 minutes without losing anyone. When they return, All Might gives him a thumbs up and says, “You gave me chills, young Bakugo.” He yelled at All Might, “What? Did you catch a cold?” The nerd calls out to him, and the spiky bastard yells, “GET OUT OF MY WAY!” The nerd looks around, confused, “But, I am not in your way.” Bakugo sighs and says in a calm tone, “I am pushing ahead of you.” Ayaka distracts me from following the rest of their conversation by stealing my jawbreaker. She says while smirking in that sexy way of hers, “I need a little good luck charm to do my best.” I blush furiously, like always, and she puts another one in my mouth and steals it as well, so she has two, then takes us both to 3D from our 2D rest area space she made.

I tell her with my face completely red, “K-kick that Mr. Depresso’s ass for me, Aya-chan.” She whispers in my ear in a sexy tone, “Your wish is my command.” I get a nosebleed, and she giggles and hands me a tissue as she leaves with her teammates for the training ground. All Might gets a phone call, and his phone starts saying in his own voice, “A phone call is here! A phone call is here!” Miss Midnight sighs, hearing it as he walks off to take the phone call. I ignore him and look at the screen to make sure that I don’t miss anything. Aya-chan is acting as their scout and goes 5D for stealth to ascertain the enemy location.

Aya-chan finds them in no time at all, and they go to ambush the other team silently, using hand signs to defend against Mr. Depresso. A barrel gets thrown at the nerd, and it seems that the annoying blonde bastard from the other class copied his teammate’s quirk and sent it flying. That quirk reminds me of Uraraka’s Psychic TM quirk. It seems like that asshole from the other class is trying to get him to talk as if he copied Mr. Depresso’s quirk, and he is being particularly annoying, trying to egg the nerd on. The asshole continues to throw a bunch of shit using his teammate’s power.

Mineta makes a trap using a long yellow piece of equipment and his purple balls. He catches something, and a bunch of shit flies towards them. Ashido creates an acid wall to dissolve the projectiles. Thanks to Aya-chan’s recon, they were ready. Their opponents are attacking from afar, so Aya-chan goes 5D, and she sneaks up on them while her teammates distract them. The other team is combining their quirks, making large objects small and then restoring them to their original size as they are flung through the air. Uraraka activates her Psychic quirk and uses it on the projectiles, and stops them midair.

The cool, spooky chick on the other team fights against it and is trying to brute-force it. While they were distracted, Aya-chan took tentacles from 5D to 3D, wrapped them around three of their opponents, and secreted her paralytic neurotoxin, which paralyzed them. Uraraka accidentally throws the projectiles far away since she was pushing them against that spooky chick. Everyone’s attention gets pulled to the nerd’s fight, where he is fighting that blonde bastard, and this weird black stuff is coming out of him. Judging by the look on the nerd’s face, I don’t think this was planned. The spiky bastard looks at me like we gave that quirk to him, and I shake my head to tell him it wasn’t us while smacking my teeth in annoyance.

It starts going wild, rampaging through the training grounds over there. The teachers left the observation deck to put a stop to the fight since something was wrong. The black things start flinging the nerd everywhere, and Ayaka teams up with Uraraka to stop him, taking her into 5D. Aya-chan released her 5D at the end, and she catches herself with a tentacle while Uraraka uses her momentum from Aya-chan’s 5D and her zero gravity on herself to latch onto the nerd and makes herself black with armament to shield herself from the onslaught of the black energy. Ayaka spots Mr. Depresso and uses her 5D ultimate to get to him quickly, and she says, “Brainwash Midoriya, Shinso! We need your quirk!” Mr. Depresso takes off his black face mask, and he yells, “Midoriya! Stop goofing off and fight me!” The nerd yells, “OK!” The black things freeze in the air, as if they were frozen, and then retract back into the nerd.

Uraraka and the nerd float down while he is still out of it, and she slaps him to wake him up. He panics and yells, “Get away, it is dangerous!” She calms him, “It’s ok now. Shinso’s brainwashing took care of you.” The nerd looks confused, and when they touch the ground, the blonde bastard tries to catch them off guard, but the nerd’s Observation Haki gets triggered, and he dodges while Uraraka uses her Counter TM quirk paired with armament to hit that bastard. That must have felt so good to punch him, and I am a little jealous of her. Both of them double-team that blonde bastard while Aya-chan pats Mr. Depresso on the shoulder and smiles that smile of hers, and she asks, “So should we return to fighting as well, now that the emergency is over?”

He nods, and Aya-chan motions her mouth like a zipper, and she uses her 5D to make it look like she teleported, when in actuality, she just quickly moved away from him while she was unseen. They both take up a fighting stance. I am so excited to see this that I don’t care what the blonde bastard is up to. I just want to see Mr. Depresso get his ass beat. He flings his scarf at the pipe above her, and she blocks the falling pipe with armament tentacles. He talks to try and get her to speak, “I have never seen someone get as pissed off about my quirk as that little pet of yours. Why does she get so pissed? Is it because she is weak and got kidnapped?”

I see her vein pop on her forehead, and she tries to hit him with an armament tentacle slam, but he dodges with his Observation Haki. He uses his scarf to entangle her tentacles, and she uses this opportunity to spit ink in his face while he is distracted by her tentacles. Mineta joined the fray, and he threw a ball on the ground, trapping him in place while he couldn’t see, and just as Aya-chan was about to hit him, I heard Miss Midnight’s voice say, “Today’s training has now been concluded. You have all learned not only about your enemies but yourselves today. You all fought bravely, and everyone showed great potential. Without any further delay, the results!” Jiro is giving Miss Midnight a thumbs up since she is giving non-biased commentary.

Miss Midnight continues speaking into the microphone, “Match one: A. Match two: B. Match three: A. Match four: A. Match five: A.” Class 1-B is all bummed out by the results, and our class is all smiles. I am pissed because they captured that blonde bastard before Aya-chan could beat the shit out of Mr. Depresso. Everyone from the last round finally makes it back, and Aya-chan is in front of everyone, and I want to be by her side, but I can’t since I wasn’t in her group. I take it they want them up there since the incident happened. I grumble and silently ruminate over our delayed reunion while they review that match. Mr. Aizawa asks, “Midoriya, what exactly happened out there?” The class echoes some suspicions about what they might think is the cause, while the nerd tries to find the words.

The nerd sighs and furrows his brows seriously while looking at his right hand, “You guys are right. To be honest, I am trying to figure out what it was myself. It was overflowing, and I couldn't hold it back no matter how hard I tried. It was like something I trusted, bared its fangs at me. I was so lost and scared, but thanks to Uraraka and Shinso helping me, I was able to get a handle on it.” He looks at Mr. Depresso and says, “Thank you for helping me. I honestly don’t know what would have happened if you weren’t there.”

Miss Midnight says energetically, which makes Aya-chan smile, “What a thrill! When Midoriya went out of control, Shinso was fantastic, but Kubo’s and Uraraka’s swift responses have me overflowing with pride! Putting your body on the line to help a friend is true devotion! So stimulating! So much passion! I can’t stand it!” Ashido starts teasing Uraraka, “I bet you hugged him so hard.” Uraraka gets as red as I do, and she twiddles her fingers while not publicly displaying their relationship.  Mr. Aizawa tells her, “You have grown quite a bit, Uraraka.” Her blush fades, and she nods and shifts her focus.

Mr. Depresso starts monologuing about how he was being selfish when he stopped the nerd, and was only listening to Aya-chan. I stop listening to him while looking at Aya-chan. While I am looking at her and unaware, Mr. Aizawa is choking Mr. Depresso to make him shut up. She is looking at me so passionately, and I blush furiously. Toru says while teasing both of us, “Ayaka, stop eye-banging Sekai so obviously. It is quite distracting.” Everyone laughs, and I get a nosebleed from being so flustered. Yaomomo gets me a tissue this time since she is closer than Aya-chan, while Aya-chan flashes her ‘I am innocent’ smile yet again.

Mr. Aizawa releases Mr. Depresso, and he says, “You don’t just wake up one day and become a pro hero… I mean, unless you're All Might. Before becoming a pro, you have to take care of yourself. Otherwise, you will only fail. You need the power to stand your ground, or you won’t be able to protect anyone else. With that in mind, you passed, and you will be transferring into the hero’s course next semester, Shinso.” Mr. Depresso starts beating himself up over his performance anyway, even after hearing he passed.

I smack my teeth in annoyance at Mr. Depresso, and that blonde bastard says loudly at me, “You are just mad that you lost to him, you weakling!” My vein pops on my forehead, and Sir Floof puts his ribbons on me to help quell the rage building inside, “You don’t know anything, you fucking bastard. Shut up before I beat the shit out of you.” He smiles that big dumb condescending smile of his, and he says, while I glare at him, “Class 1-A is filled with uncivilized buffoons who only know how to resort to violence! You are just like that explosi-” Kendo knocks him out and drags him away while sighing exasperatedly.
