The herbs mentioned during the conversation between the disciple and her master made the avatar think of a certain pill. There was one pill he remembered that used that combination of those herbs as its foundation.
'The pill that is said to strengthen the cultivation foundation of Transcendence Realm cultivators, or even Demigod cultivators, allowing them to unleash stronger attacks and defenses to the point that they could fight someone two minor realms above them, something extremely difficult to do at those stages,' the avatar thought.
'The pill also has the effect of lengthening one's lifespan and healing some fatal soul injuries. With all of those effects, it became one of the rarest and most valuable pills in the Fifth Heaven and Sixth Heaven.'
'The Celestial Root Pill.' The avatar kept narrowing his eyes.
'But this pill can only be concocted by an alchemist who has reached at least the Transcendence Realm. Why is this old man at the Immortal Realm trying to do that? It would be a waste to create something that he cannot create.'
'Is he not making that pill and instead making a pill that I do not know of?'
He already possessed extensive knowledge regarding alchemy, as his avatar was still reading all of the books left behind by Hanlie and Xuanji in their library.
However alchemy continued to evolve, and there could still be pills that he did not know about.
'They said they only lack the Seven Color Honeylocust. That is something that I also have in my treasure vaults.' The avatar continued thinking while watching the master and disciple discuss matters related to alchemy.
'Should I use this chance to obtain the information?' the avatar considered seriously before noticing that the woman seemed done with her business here.
At that moment, he decided to take the risk. He took out a black pill from his storage ring, crushed it, and blew the powder toward the master and disciple. The crushed pill had already turned into a fine dust that swept over the old men and the woman before they inhaled it.
It did not take even three seconds before they suddenly felt something wrong with their bodies. Weakness spread through the muscles of their entire bodies, and the energy flowing within them became chaotic. Very quickly, they found that they could no longer circulate their energy at all.
"Master, what's wrong with me? Wait, you feel it too?" the woman asked in panic as she collapsed to the floor. She was also shocked to see that her master seemed to be experiencing the same thing.
The old man's eyes trembled.
"I don't know, but this sudden sensation of weakness... it is like we just consumed something harmful to our bodies and it is only now showing its effect."
He tried to take something from his storage ring, but he could not. He felt such extreme weakness that his arm no longer obeyed his brain's command to move.
The avatar, seeing them already incapacitated, wore a mask and covered his hair with the hood of his robe. After that, he finally canceled the concealing talisman, making himself visible once more.
The moment his figure appeared, the master and disciple widened their eyes. Their eyes trembled with disbelief.
There was someone standing near them, yet neither of them had sensed his presence!
"You... are you the one who made us like this?" the old man asked in a fuming tone.
The avatar looked at the old man.
"I don't think there is anyone else here who could have made you like this."
The old man gritted his teeth.
"Who are you? Are you Tarius' follower or part of the rebel group?"
"What do you think?" the avatar asked in amusement.
"Well, where I came from is not important. I came here to ask for a few pieces of information. You answer my questions, and I will let all of you go. Easy, right?"
"Forget about someone coming to save you or getting out of this situation on your own. This hall is sealed because it is supposed to be your private place, isn't it? Only a limited number of people would come here, and I doubt there is anyone who would dare barge into the hall of an alchemy master such as yourself."
"And the two of you already inhaled the dust of the White Mist Abyss Pill, a pill capable of incapacitating cultivators far stronger than Immortal Realm cultivators. A single breath is enough to leave you like this in under three seconds, and you will remain this way unless I give you the antidote."
The old man and the woman's hearts trembled. Still, the old man showed an indignant expression.
"No matter what, you will never get anything from me. Don't think you can escape from this place after doing something like this!" the old man said angrily.
"Hmm, is that so?" the avatar then looked at the woman and approached her.
The woman, seeing him approach, wanted to move away, but her body did not obey her. She could only grit her teeth.
"What are you going to do?" the old man asked. His voice started to panic as he watched the avatar approach his disciple.
"Wait, wait! Stop!" he shouted.
The avatar stopped when he was already standing in front of the woman's face. Her face was right in front of his feet as she tried to keep looking at his upper body. She could not see any of the avatar's features beneath the mask and hood.
"I wonder, which one is more important to you? Your loyalty toward the temple or your disciple?" the avatar said as he looked directly at the woman.
"Wait! Tell me what you want! We can negotiate!" the old man shouted.
He did not know if the man in front of him was crazy enough to kill someone in this place. If the man came from Tarius' side, then it might be possible. They were a crazy bunch who could do things that he considered unthinkable.
"I like talking with clever people who know what is best for them. What I want is not much. I just want to know the details of the temple's power in this domain and the areas surrounding the Central Region of Heaven. How many Immortal Realm cultivators do they have? How many are guarding the Central Region of Heaven? Which places are the strongest and which are the weakest? Things like that."
The avatar turned to look at the old man.
Hearing those questions, both the old man and the woman were stunned.
Then the old man suddenly let out a sigh.
His expression eased, and the anger disappeared from his face.
Seeing that reaction, the avatar was confused.
"I see... so you are from the rebel group," the old man suddenly said. Surprisingly, his voice did not contain any fury. On the contrary, there was a trace of understanding in it.
Hearing that, it was the avatar's turn to be stunned. He was surprised that the old man had managed to deduce the faction he supposedly came from. This made him curious about how the old man had reached that conclusion.
"What makes you think that I came from the rebel group? Why do you think I am associated with those blasphemous people who oppose the gods—"
"You don't have to deny it."
The old man cut off the avatar's words, causing him to fall silent.
"I already knew the moment you asked for that kind of detailed information. There is no way you are from Tarius' side, because that kind of information is already known to them. They had a fairly close relationship with us before an incident turned us into enemies."
"There is no other group that would want that kind of detailed information besides the rebel group. Even more so because you specifically asked about the Central Region of Heaven. The most important place in the Second Heaven is exactly the kind of place the rebel group would be eager to learn more about."
"After all, I can guess that the rebel group does not have enough information regarding this domain and the Central Region of Heaven. Although they are spread across many places throughout the Second Heaven, I bet this domain and the Central Region of Heaven are the only places where the rebel group cannot easily make a move."
"This might be the first time someone from the rebel group has managed to infiltrate this far and even enter this place without anyone noticing. I don't know how you did it, but I am truly amazed by it."
Then the old man fell silent.
The avatar observed the old man and found him interesting. He approached the old man, causing the woman to speak up.
"Wait, what are you going to do?"
Had the man decided to kill her master because he had deduced too much?
Had he changed his mind and abandoned his search for information?
"Don't do anything humph—"
Her lips were sealed by the avatar using his control over space as he continued approaching the old man.
After reaching him, he looked down while the old man continued meeting his gaze without fear. The avatar could see that the old man was already prepared for death.
It was as if he had resigned himself to the fact that he was about to die.
After a few moments of silence, the avatar finally spoke.
"Old man, you are truly interesting. I can sense emotions, and when you spoke about the rebel group, your emotions changed. I sensed understanding, resignation, and even sympathy. To be honest, I was surprised to sense such emotions from a follower of Avergis."
His gaze remained fixed on the old man calmly.
"Who are you? Why do you have those feelings toward the rebels?"
