I have to say, Luo Linlang had a real knack for making things awkward.

Li Qiancheng hadn’t even considered that angle. After all, cultivators didn’t sweat the small stuff. What was the big deal about a man and a woman sharing a room? It wasn’t like they’d be sleeping in the same bed.

But after Luo Linlang’s comment, Li Qiancheng found himself in a tight spot.

If he insisted on staying, it would look like he had improper intentions toward the young lady.

But if he didn’t, he’d worry that Lu Sangjiu was in danger.

His expression turned awkward. For someone as direct and outspoken as him, it was rare to be left utterly speechless.

Ye Zhiyao was angry too. "Loro Linlang, keep your filthy thoughts to yourself! I only agreed to cooperate. That doesn’t mean you can insult me whenever you please. Don’t push your luck!"

Ever since Luo Linlang had defeated Ye Zhiyao in the arena, Ye Zhiyao had always harbored jealousy and resentment toward her.

She was wary of Lu Sangjiu, but with Luo Linlang, it was more a matter of indignation, which made it easier for them to start arguing.

Fortunately, Lu Sangjiu spoke up just in time to cut off a potential argument. "Stop fighting. I’ll stay. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. Everyone, go back and get some rest. We’re leaving the city at dawn."

She had made the final decision, so no one could say anything more. With that, everyone finally dispersed.

Lu Sangjiu leaned back in the chair at the table. "Weren’t you the one who wanted to rest? The bed is all yours."

Seeing Lu Sangjiu being so considerate, Ye Zhiyao didn’t stand on ceremony either and immediately turned to lie down on the bed.

She didn’t notice that as she turned away, Lu Sangjiu quietly took out a bit of Ghost Demon Fragrance and lit it...

’Right, this is what I got from Ah Ming. It’s finally coming in handy.’

Ye Zhiyao was in the Nascent Soul Stage, so the Ghost Demon Fragrance wasn’t as effective on her. It had to burn for a moment before she gradually fell into a deep sleep.

Lu Sangjiu immediately walked to the bedside, raised a hand to seal several of Ye Zhiyao’s major acupoints, and then swiped her Storage Magical Treasure. Only then did she truly feel at ease.

Although Lu Sangjiu still hadn’t given up on the idea of killing Ye Zhiyao, Ye Zhiyao was no longer the greatest threat to her at the moment.

She had too many other things to do. It wasn’t worth ruining the new identity she had so carefully cultivated just to kill Ye Zhiyao.

So, since she had said she wouldn’t kill Ye Zhiyao this time, she really wasn’t going to.

Drugging her and sealing her Spiritual Power was just a precaution to avoid having to waste more energy guarding against her later.

And though she took the Storage Magical Treasure, she had no intention of keeping it for herself. A deal was a deal. She wasn’t about to completely loot her new partner.

After temporarily stowing away Ye Zhiyao’s Storage Magical Treasure, Lu Sangjiu turned, sat back down in the chair, and began to meditate and cultivate.

It had been a while since she broke through to the Golden Core Realm. Although she had been constantly busy, she had still seized every free moment to cultivate.

As long as it wasn’t a breakthrough to a major Realm, it was fine for a Demon Cultivator to pause their cultivation. So, feeling that the Spiritual Energy in her body was now abundant enough, Lu Sangjiu used this time to advance her cultivation to the Mid-stage Golden Core.

A breakthrough to a minor realm wouldn’t have a huge impact on her strength, but it could be considered a small battle preparation before heading to the border of the Western Demon Realm.

Soon, the sky began to brighten. Lu Sangjiu estimated that the effects of the Ghost Demon Fragrance had mostly worn off, so she went over and woke Ye Zhiyao.

Ye Zhiyao sat up and rubbed her eyes. Halfway through a yawn, she suddenly felt that something was wrong.

Her face paled. She snapped her head up to look at Lu Sangjiu. "My Spiritual Power..."

Lu Sangjiu smiled innocently. "Don’t be scared. I was just worried Senior Sister Ye wouldn’t cooperate, so I temporarily sealed your Spiritual Power."

"Oh, right. I’m also holding on to your Storage Magical Treasure for you."

Ye Zhiyao was furious. Thinking back to how deeply she had slept, how could she not understand that Lu Sangjiu had done something to her?

"Lu Sangjiu, you’re despicable!"

Lu Sangjiu nodded with complete composure. "I am despicable. But you can’t beat me right now, so why don’t you just put up with it?"

Ye Zhiyao: "..."

She took several deep breaths before managing to suppress some of the frustration welling up in her chest.

’Forget it... A wise person knows when to yield.’

’Once I see my master, I’ll make her regret treating me like this today!’

When they went downstairs for breakfast, Luo Linlang could tell at a glance that Ye Zhiyao’s meridians were sealed. She gloated, "Little Junior Sister, you’re something else! In just one night, you’ve gone and pulled the tiger’s teeth?"

She paused, then corrected herself. "Then again, maybe not a tiger. A feisty little stray cat, at best?"

’That description sounds strangely affectionate...’ Luo Linlang was disgusted with herself. She shivered and spat twice. "I’ll just shut up!"

Lu Sangjiu gave Luo Linlang a helpless look, sighing inwardly at how her senior sister was just as unreliable as ever.

The thought she’d had of asking Luo Linlang to watch Ye Zhiyao on the road was instantly extinguished. She turned to Li Qiancheng instead. "Eldest Senior Brother, I’ll have to trouble you to keep a close eye on Ye Zhiyao during our journey."

She would definitely be watching her too, but she was afraid she might slip up at some point and give Ye Zhiyao an opening. It was better to have someone else keeping an eye out as well.

Li Qiancheng, who was far more reliable than Ye Zhiyao, immediately nodded in agreement. "No problem!"

Meanwhile, the young Demon Cultivator, whose meridians were also sealed, was entrusted to Shen Yuzhao’s care.

After breakfast, the group left Lu City.

Outside the city, Feng Lin and the others quickly rendezvoused with Lu Sangjiu’s group.

Yan Zui gave a brief account of what happened with the two Immortal Alliance disciples, then said, "I waited here for you specifically. If you have any questions, ask them now. I have to take these two and report back to my master soon."

Clearly, matters concerning the Immortal Alliance were beyond Lu Sangjiu’s group’s control. At most, they could glean some information from the two disciples. The follow-up would have to be handled by the major Immortal Gates.

Lu Sangjiu nodded. "Thank you for your hard work, Ms. Yan Zui. Also, we may need you to keep an eye on what the major Immortal Gates do next. Just leave the matter of escorting these Demon Cultivators home to us."

Yan Zui instantly understood her meaning... Lu Sangjiu was asking her to return to her master’s side and act as their inside source.

The corner of her mouth twitched. "Little Jiu, oh, Little Jiu, you really don’t hold back when ordering people around!"

Lu Sangjiu blinked. "How could you call this ordering people around? Aren’t we all working toward a common goal? The more capable you are, the more work you do, Ms. Yan Zui. We’ll just have to trouble you a little!"

Yan Zui pouted. "Don’t think you can get away with it just by being a sweet-talker."

Then, her tone grew serious. "I trust you all, and I’m willing to help, but she is my master, after all. If there’s something she strictly forbids me from revealing, then I’ll have no choice but to apologize."

Lu Sangjiu could certainly understand that. To be honest, she was already very grateful that Yan Zui was willing to help to this extent.

So she smiled and nodded. "Don’t feel too much pressure, Ms. Yan Zui. Just do what you can with a clear conscience."

With that said, she finally turned to look at the two still-unconscious disciples from the Immortal Alliance...
