...Ridiculous?

Sometimes, Cangming thought he was quite ridiculous himself.

But that absolutely did not mean he would tolerate Fa Shan speaking to him in such a mocking tone.

A cold glint flashed across Cangming’s face. "You’re courting death."

Before the words had even faded, he had already struck out at Fa Shan with his palm!

Although he hadn’t used his full strength, even a glancing blow would have been more than enough for Fa Shan to handle.

Fa Shan raised a hand to cast a spell and block the attack, a flicker of anger in his eyes. "Cangming, are you a dog? How can you still be so hot-tempered after all these years!"

Fa Shan had once hated Cangming, too. He’d wished he could kill him and make him accompany Gu Huang in death.

But later, after he calmed down, he knew Cangming couldn’t die.

The Western Demon Realm was already at a disadvantage against the Cultivation World. With Gu Huang gone, only he and Cangming remained at the Body Integration Realm. The death of either one of them could spell doom for the entire Western Demon Realm.

This was also why he had refused to see Cangming for so many years. If he couldn’t kill him, then out of sight, out of mind.

Now, several hundred years had passed. Although their two sects had each nurtured a few more cultivators to the Body Integration Realm, it still wasn’t enough.

After all, the Four Great Sects of the Cultivation World all had old masters at the Transcendance Tribulation Stage. Lacking anyone at that level, they would always be a step below, no matter how many Body Integration Realm cultivators they had.

And right now, the ones with the best hope of breaking through to the Transcendance Tribulation Stage were still him and Cangming. So, they still couldn’t die.

Yet, while Fa Shan held this understanding and had never raised a hand against Cangming no matter how much he resented him, Cangming now attacked without a shred of hesitation. How could Fa Shan not be furious?

In response to Fa Shan’s curse, Cangming showed no guilt at all, merely lifting his chin. "What, are you too scared to even fight back in my Cold Crow Sect?"

Fa Shan’s expression turned grim. "Are you really going to force my hand?"

Cangming sneered. "You’re as fussy as ever. It’s just a fight. What’s all this ’really’ and ’not really’ about?"

As he spoke, he prepared to strike again, looking like he was determined to have a proper fight with Fa Shan today.

But before he could make his move, he suddenly noticed a stir from the guest room.

Cangming paused. He frowned slightly but didn’t turn around.

Fa Shan, on the other hand, looked as if he’d discovered a new continent. Completely drawn to the guest room, he asked hesitantly, "You... got married?"

It was no wonder he was puzzled. Cangming had never allowed anyone but himself to live in his courtyard.

Now, there was a woman here. What’s more, she’d been deliberately hidden by an Array until just now, when she must have cracked the door open out of curiosity to peek outside, allowing him to suddenly sense her presence.

Cangming’s face immediately darkened. "You’re the one who got married!"

Fa Shan was speechless.

’Sometimes I really don’t understand Cangming at all,’ he thought. ’I was just asking. What’s there to be so angry about?’

However, Cangming’s reaction only made Fa Shan more curious. He feigned looking away, but just as Cangming breathed a small sigh of relief, his figure blurred and he reappeared right at the guest room door!

Cangming’s expression changed. "Stop!"

But he was too late. Fa Shan had already pushed open the guest room door and come face-to-face with Ye Zhiyao.

Ye Zhiyao stared at Fa Shan in terror. She took an instinctive step back, tripped over her own feet, and fell right to the floor.

It was unclear whether her legs were too weak to stand or if she was deliberately feigning weakness, but she didn’t get up. She simply sat there on the floor, looking up at him with teary eyes.

Fa Shan was at a loss for words.

He didn’t know what to say. The next moment, Cangming was at his side.

Cangming yanked Fa Shan away, positioning himself in the doorway to block his view of Ye Zhiyao.

Fa Shan thought Cangming’s expression seemed a little nervous, as if he were deliberately using anger to hide his true feelings. "Do you really want to die? How dare you barge into my courtyard like this!"

This time, Fa Shan didn’t get angry. He just looked at Cangming with a complicated expression. "I never would have thought... your taste would be like this."

He’d always thought the type of person Cangming would fall for would be a formidable heroine who could topple a mountain with a single punch. He never expected it to be this kind of delicate flower who would fall over without even being pushed.

And... she was an Immortal Cultivator.

’Cangming must really like her,’ Fa Shan thought. ’Otherwise, with his temper, how could he tolerate an Immortal Cultivator? And he’s so nervous now, shielding her like this. He’s terrified she’ll come to even the slightest harm.’

However, seeing Fa Shan’s reaction, Cangming was a bit stunned. He seemed completely surprised that this was all Fa Shan had to say. But upon closer inspection, his expression didn’t look like he was hiding anything.

So, he finally couldn’t help but ask, "...Don’t you think she looks a little familiar?"

Fa Shan was confused.

He didn’t quite understand. He glanced at Ye Zhiyao again, then frowned slightly. "Familiar? Should she look familiar to me? Why?"

Cangming fell silent.

He could tell Fa Shan wasn’t faking it. He genuinely didn’t think Ye Zhiyao’s face... looked like *her*.

’But why? To me, she looks seventy or eighty percent similar. How could Fa Shan possibly not recognize her?’

A suspicion began to form in Cangming’s heart. He took a deep look at Ye Zhiyao, a hint of ice in his eyes.

He had no intention of dealing with this in front of Fa Shan, so he simply turned and calmly closed the door again. "It’s nothing. It’s not what you think. Wipe that surprised look off your face."

By now, however, he had lost the will to fight Fa Shan. He just waved his hand dismissively as if shooing away a fly and said, "You can go now."

Fa Shan saw Cangming’s resolve. After a moment of silence, he finally decided to take a step back for now.

"If you won’t hand them over, then at least... let me see them."

Cangming’s brows knitted together. "Are you sick in the head? You’re really going to butt heads with me over a few ants?"

"Yes," Fa Shan said, looking at him steadily. "Setting aside that they’re He Ming’s friends and I promised to save them, I must rescue them, if only to keep the domination map out of your hands."

"Besides, right now I just want to confirm they’re safe. We can discuss what comes next later."

Cangming stared at him for a long moment before finally letting out a cold snort. "Fine. I’ll grant you this much."

Meanwhile, in the prison cell, Lu Sangjiu was pushing herself to her limits, having just removed the Blood Evil Curse from all four of them.

Now that the urgency had passed, she could finally give her body a break and slowly recover her Demonic Qi.

But she had barely restored half of it when Luo Linlang suddenly tugged on her arm. "Someone’s coming."

Lu Sangjiu instantly grew alert. She put away her Demon Essence Stone and concealed all her Demonic Qi within her body.

Then, as quickly as she could, she bit her finger and used the blood to swiftly draw a talisman on each of their wrists.

Drawing this talisman on an ordinary person with a Demon Cultivator’s blood could create the illusion of Demonic Qi invading their body.

Although it was just a Blinding Technique, as long as no one lifted their clothes to check, the outward appearance was convincing enough to pass for the real thing.
