The white-robed man, seated in a meditative pose, slowly opened his eyes. He raised his hand and gently wiped at his lips.

The bright red bloodstain was glaring, as if that damned woman were silently mocking him.

The injury from the backlash wasn’t severe, but... it was, without a doubt, a great humiliation to him.

A storm brewed in his black eyes, causing the two beautiful maids to immediately prostrate themselves, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.

They didn’t dare to speak, let alone ask why their Young Master was injured. They could only press their foreheads tightly to the floor, terrified of being caught in the blast of his fury.

Fortunately, the white-robed man didn’t take his anger out on them. He simply lowered his gaze to the iridescent pearl in his hand.

’In here is a small world.’

’The very world where that damned woman resides.’

He closed his eyes, and a cold sneer touched his lips. "I’ve already crushed its Artifact Spirit—your so-called Heavenly Dao. You, a mere ant, truly believe I can do nothing to you?"

He raised his eyes to the two trembling maids.

He gently took one of the girl’s pale hands, helping her to her feet with a soft smile.

"Fu Ling, you have always been the best at easing my burdens."

His voice was gentle, but the woman named Fu Ling seemed terrified of him. She flinched slightly before mustering the courage to reply.

"Y-Young Master, is there something you wish me to do?"

The man’s smile widened, his fingers caressing her smooth cheek. "I’d like you to personally go... and kill that woman for me. How does that sound?"

Lu Sangjiu shot upright into a world of darkness.

Only after her eyes adjusted did she realize she was in a pitch-black cave.

Sensing she was awake, the Domination Map Blade let out a happy hum. It seemed to want to draw closer but didn’t dare move, as if held back by something.

As Lu Sangjiu’s consciousness returned, she instantly recalled everything that had happened.

Given the circumstances, she had no time to dwell on the matter of the Pseudo Heavenly Dao. She extended her Divine Sense outside the cave and saw that the entrance was swarmed with a dense mass of black vines, sealing it completely shut.

The ground at the cave mouth was littered with countless shredded vines—clearly the work of the Domination Map Blade.

It was thanks to the blade’s tireless battle that the vines had been temporarily forced to keep their distance.

But they were unwilling to retreat, holding their position at the entrance in a tense stalemate, waiting for a chance to strike.

Understanding their predicament and knowing the Domination Map Blade could hold on a bit longer, she hurriedly spoke to it. "Thanks for all your hard work. Just hang in there a little longer. I’ll be ready soon!"

With that said, she immediately went to check on her companions.

To be honest, all four of them were in equally bad shape; no one was much better off than the others.

Comparatively, Duan Xingyun’s injuries were the easiest to treat. He had merely been wounded by Bai Heng’s sword.

This was unlike the other three. One had burned away their Life Span using a secret technique, another had suffered a backlash from an Abnormal Fire, and the third was reeling from a backlash of Rule Power.

Fortunately, Lu Sangjiu had amassed a small fortune and had a stock of High-level Healing Pills. She promptly fed a handful to Duan Xingyun.

She then took an Elixir Pill herself to quickly restore her Spiritual Power. Afterward, she used her own Spiritual Power to help Duan Xingyun absorb the medicine, stopping only when the Spiritual Energy inside his body began to circulate on its own again.

Next, Lu Sangjiu turned to Luo Linlang. She tried feeding her a few Elixir Pills, only to find that her injuries were not something pills could fix. There was no reaction at all after she swallowed them.

Rule Power had always been treacherous and unpredictable. Lu Sangjiu didn’t fully understand it, nor did she know how she could possibly help Luo Linlang. All she could do was try her best.

After a moment of thought, she fed Luo Linlang the Water Spirit Pearl she had acquired from the Cold Crow Sect.

A vast amount of Water Spiritual Power spread through Luo Linlang’s body, gently attempting to repair her wounds. But moments later, the injuries remained, showing no signs of improvement whatsoever.

Lu Sangjiu frowned. After another moment of thought, she placed a hand over Luo Linlang’s heart and attempted to use her own Spiritual Power to make contact with the destructive backlash force inside her.

’Perhaps I can expel it with brute force,’ she had thought. But to her surprise, the instant her Spiritual Power made contact with the force, it was obliterated.

Worse, that tyrannical power even tried to crawl up her stream of Spiritual Power and invade her own body!

It was so fast that Lu Sangjiu had no time to pull back. Just as alarm shot through her, she suddenly felt the wisp of Heavenly Punishment Qi in her Dantian stir.

Like a king whose domain had been violated, it unleashed a sliver of its power with lightning speed. Before the Rule Power could invade Lu Sangjiu’s body, the Heavenly Punishment Qi crushed it with absolute dominance!

It might have been her imagination, but Lu Sangjiu could have sworn she heard the Rule Power let out an agonized shriek!

’This wisp of Heavenly Punishment Qi is terrifyingly powerful.’

Still, the Rule Power inside Luo Linlang had been dealt with. Lu Sangjiu let out a long sigh of relief.

But before she could celebrate, her expression suddenly contorted.

She had discovered that the sliver of power released by the Heavenly Punishment Qi hadn’t returned to her. Instead, it was pressing on toward Luo Linlang’s Dantian!

"Come back!"

She frantically tried to recall it, knowing that for anyone else, this power was a curse, not a blessing. Not just any body could withstand it.

However, the Heavenly Punishment Qi was merely a temporary resident in Lu Sangjiu’s body, not something that belonged to her. It paid her no heed. The word had barely left her lips before the wisp of energy arrived above Luo Linlang’s Dantian.

In an instant, Lu Sangjiu was stunned to see Luo Linlang’s Golden Core flare up as if it had been set alight, instantly erupting in a blaze of fire!

Before Lu Sangjiu could even react, she was blasted backward. By the time she looked up again, Luo Linlang was completely shrouded in fire!

Lu Sangjiu’s first instinct was to put out the fire. But when she rushed over, she realized the flames couldn’t be extinguished. Even when she touched them, she felt no burning pain.

She froze. As her senses returned, a possibility suddenly struck her, and her face filled with astonishment. "Is this... Phoenix Bathing in Fire?"

She remembered Luo Linlang saying her mother was a Vermilion Bird. And although Linlang herself hadn’t inherited the Vermilion Bird’s talent for spiritual power, she had awakened the Word Spirit Technique, a power unique to the Ancient Fire Phoenix.

And the Ancient Fire Phoenix clan was even more famous for another legend: that of the Phoenix being reborn by bathing in fire.

Lu Sangjiu had never witnessed it herself, but she had read descriptions of it in ancient texts.

When a Phoenix bathes in fire, the flames are born from the Fire Phoenix clan itself. It is a fire of life. It does not scorch the world around it; instead, it allows a dying Phoenix to be reborn from its embers.

After rebirth, not only would all injuries be healed, but the Phoenix’s cultivation and talent would also be massively enhanced!

’Second Senior Sister has turned a disaster into a blessing!’

Once she realized what was happening, Lu Sangjiu was naturally overjoyed for Luo Linlang.

At the same time, she recalled that it was only after the wisp of Heavenly Punishment Qi entered Luo Linlang’s Dantian that she had suddenly burst into flames.

’Perhaps... it did something to awaken Luo Linlang’s bloodline power?’
