After returning, Lu Sangjiu took some time to carefully consider the various problems they were facing.
First, there was the matter of not being able to return to the Seven Emotions Sect.
The Seven Emotions Sect’s ancestor had his physical body destroyed and was now residing within Ye Zhiyao. This fact alone made it impossible for them to convince the ancestor to believe them over her.
In fact, Lu Sangjiu suspected it wasn’t that the ancestor truly believed Ye Zhiyao’s words. ’It’s more likely that Ye Zhiyao is simply more important to him, so whether we’ve been wrongfully accused or not doesn’t really matter.’
Given this reality, their only options were to either surpass the ancestor in power and make him fear them, or to become so valuable to the sect that he could no longer oppress them.
But at present, neither of these possibilities seemed attainable, nor could they be forced.
Therefore, after some thought, Lu Sangjiu still believed the best course of action was to avoid returning to the Seven Emotions Sect for the time being.
After all, they were only under suspicion for now; it hadn’t escalated to a sect-wide manhunt. As long as they were careful to avoid disciples from the Seven Emotions Sect, they should be able to stay out of trouble.
Besides, she wanted to stop the Immortal Demon War from continuing, and staying outside the sect would actually make that easier.
However, this was also because Lu Sangjiu didn’t have a particularly deep attachment to the Seven Emotions Sect. She felt that even being expelled wouldn’t be a huge deal.
’But Master and the others... I wonder what they think. We should discuss it properly later!’
Next was the matter of Xie Ningyuan being wanted by the Ten Thousand Buddha Sect. Justice had to be sought for his master’s death.
Moreover, based on what he’d said, Ting Chan was suspected of being connected to the third-party force cultivating Demon Flowers. This meant that investigating this matter was also a step toward stopping the Immortal Demon War.
Therefore, Lu Sangjiu concluded they should start with Ting Chan of the Ten Thousand Buddha Sect. At the very least, they needed to uncover the details of this third party.
Given Ting Chan’s cultivation, he was bound to hold a high position and would certainly know a great deal.
After sorting through this information in her mind a few times, Lu Sangjiu solidified her plan and went to find Duan Xingyun and the others.
But when they met, before she could say a word, Luo Linlang shared a piece of news with her.
"Little Junior Sister, Gu Jue is out of seclusion! He said he tried to contact you but couldn’t get through. He asked me where we are now, but I didn’t know what I should or shouldn’t say... You should be the one to reply to him!"
Lu Sangjiu paused, just now remembering that Gu Jue had left to enter seclusion and attempt a breakthrough to the Nascent Soul Stage. ’He’s only breaking through now?’
’That can’t be right. Even without his protagonist plot armor, with his natural aptitude, he should have emerged from seclusion long ago.’
She had been so busy with other matters, and since Gu Jue was focused on his breakthrough, she hadn’t disturbed him. She truly had no idea what had happened after he left.
After a moment’s thought, she took out her Communication Talisman and glanced at it.
The Communication Talisman held many messages, most of them from people who had tried to contact her during the period she was missing.
She scrolled through the messages and, sure enough, found one from Gu Jue. It had been sent just a day ago.
News of the internal strife within the Seven Emotions Sect probably hadn’t spread yet. Or perhaps it had, but Gu Jue had just come out of seclusion and hadn’t had a chance to hear about it.
That would explain why his message was just a normal greeting. He likely waited a day for her reply before contacting Luo Linlang instead.
Lu Sangjiu hesitated, debating whether she should drag Gu Jue into this mess.
But ultimately, she felt it would be impossible to hide what was happening to them. Besides, if she didn’t tell him, he would probably head to the Immortal Demon Battlefield on his own.
It was better to just explain everything clearly. He might even be able to help.
So, Lu Sangjiu sent a reply to Gu Jue. "Mr. Gu, a lot has happened on our end. It’s too complicated to explain over the Communication Talisman."
"If you don’t have anything else pressing, could you go to Bodhi City and wait for us? There’s something I need to tell you, and I also need your help with something."
"If you do come, please be discreet and don’t tell anyone. Also, if you have other plans that involve going to the Immortal Demon Battlefield, I hope you’ll hold off for now and come find us first."
Not long after Lu Sangjiu sent her message, a reply came back.
The content was simple, just a single word: "Okay."
Lu Sangjiu breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Gu Jue trusted her enough. Otherwise, she would have had a lot of explaining to do.
Putting away her Communication Talisman, Lu Sangjiu turned to the group that had gathered in the room.
The group included Xie Ningyuan, Duan Xingyun, and her three senior martial siblings.
These were the people she was closest to and trusted most. The next course of action concerned everyone, so it was only right to discuss and decide on it together.
After explaining her thoughts regarding the Seven Emotions Sect, Lu Sangjiu looked at Duan Xingyun. "Master, I know you probably have a deep attachment to the sect and are reluctant to do this."
"But I truly can’t think of a better solution right now. If you have any other ideas, please share them so we can all discuss it."
Duan Xingyun smiled and shook his head. "You think too little of your master. I’m not that rigid. I know full well that this isn’t the time to insist on proving our innocence."
He sighed, a wistful look on his face. "Back when we had our decisive battle with Bai Heng, I considered that a situation like this might arise... At least we still have Elder Jingxu on our side. Why be difficult about it?"
"It’s just..." He looked at Lu Sangjiu. "If we don’t go back to the Seven Emotions Sect, do you... plan to stay with the Divine Tomb Sect?"
Seeing Duan Xingyun’s earnest, questioning gaze, Lu Sangjiu paused for a moment before she finally understood what he was implying.
’No wonder he said earlier that I might not have thought things through and that we could talk again when I had. Was he assuming I would stay with the Divine Tomb Sect?’
She knew that Duan Xingyun was an intelligent man. After witnessing her unusual behavior recently, combined with Fa Shan’s attitude toward her, he had likely already guessed her identity.
After a moment of silence, Lu Sangjiu decided to tell them the truth.
"Master, you’re overthinking things. I won’t be staying in the Western Demon Realm, nor will I... abandon my current identity."
She smiled at the others. "Since it’s come to this, I’ll be direct. Perhaps some of you have already guessed. Well... you’re right. I am Gu Huang, the Palace Master of the Moon Palace from the Western Demon Realm a few hundred years ago."
The moment she said this, everyone except Duan Xingyun—Li Qiancheng and the other two senior siblings—was utterly shocked.
To them, Gu Huang was nothing more than a figure of legend. They hadn’t been able to recognize the techniques Lu Sangjiu had used as Gu Huang’s unique skills.
So, even though they felt she was full of secrets, none of them had ever considered this possibility.
Now, hearing her words, they all looked completely dazed, as if they were in a dream.
Duan Xingyun didn’t seem surprised, merely asking with some confusion, "So, what exactly happened to you? And why have you become... like this?"
