The Sky Was Never Young: Vampire System Apocalypse

Chapter 10: Genius Mind Built For Survival Instincts...

Just as he was about to hit Aliszia, who was in a position to scratch his hands and hunt him, suddenly everything around him, which had been dark earlier, shifted back to normal. Cassian’s eyes widened in sudden confusion as he saw that the vampire was no longer Aliszia; it was the vampire he had met in the garage who entered from the back of the place.

But the situation was different this time; he saw that the vampire was not trying to bite or scratch him. It was about to give him the syringe filled with the small glass shot. The vampire was holding his hand with one of its hands and was laughing loudly with a great vampire hiss. At that very moment, every doubt that Cassian had earlier was solved.

With his might, he attempted the attack that he had planned earlier and struck its hand with the wrench, causing the syringe to break, and the potion... to spread all over the floor. The vampire let out a loud, high-pitched snarl in anger, baring its fangs after what Cassian had done.

This was a very smart move; if Cassian had hit the vampire with the wrench, it would have cared less, as he knew that Vampires fixate entirely on what they are focused on; no other distraction would have stopped it, because of their multitasking flaw. So, it was a very great moment to either kill the vampire or escape, as the vampire was focused on his anger right now; before it shifted his tunnel vision towards Cassian, he was supposed to make a quick decision.

Cassian stood, walked a few steps away from the vampire, and then he closely observed its actions to decide whether it was a must to kill it. That vampire started to bleed the glittery green blood from its completely black eyes, making loud gnarls, while looking towards the broken syringe and the spilled potion. It seemed like the vampire was crying from anger, but something deep felt wrong. The vampire seemed frightened as he started to mumble a few words that were not clearly audible, but Cassian got a clue of what it was saying:

"!boold ym eraps tub lous eht llik ,souiculiv drol fo ycrem eht". The vampire started to chant this unique language while his glittery, horrific green blood came out of his dark eyes.

Cassian lip-synced whatever the vampire started to mumble and crammed the exact pronunciation of the sentence. After that, he quickly ran toward a very dirty car that was parked in the garage and wrote the exact wording on the rear windshield. Cassian figured out that it was a water image of the real language, as he loved to solve reasoning and was a genius at it, according to the students of his school.

The real problem was that he had very little time to solve that long sentence. He noticed the reflection of light directly hit the car’s rear windshield. Yet the problem was that the light was not inverting the words as it had happened earlier. He remembered that he had pointed that currency-like velvet cloth in his house, which had the same water-image wording on it, and then it became readable. So, according to him, the unhinged world’s own physics was not working here. At the exact moment when he bent his head down in a tired grief, he saw a puddle of water just beneath the car’s rear windshield.

He was an absolute genius and an extraordinary student; he used his skills right there. He calculated the angle of inclination of the car’s rear windshield, as he generally knew a lot about cars due to his interest in them. He started to bend himself at an angle of 30 degrees as he calculated the inclination of the observer that was needed to read the words in a normal language. And, finally, he was able to read. It said:

"The mercy of lord Vilucious, kill the soul but spare my blood!" Cassian murmured in a low voice to himself as he read from the puddle of water. "Vilucious Accantte..." he added to his murmuring. He had read the word ’Vilucious’ before, on that currency; that’s why he took the exact name. Cassian figured out that the vampire was somewhat scared of the name Vilucious and was treating it as if he were some god. He quickly wrote something on the car:

"If you stop hunting us! I would definitely help you"

After writing this, Cassian converted this sentence to water language and spoke it aloud to the vampire. No response came. The vampire was still angry and was chanting the same words from earlier. Cassian didn’t give up and again wrote something on the car’s rear windshield to convert it into water language.

"Lord Vilucious sent me to spare your soul and blood both, only if you stop hunting humans"

As soon as he bent to look at the water-image of this sentence, he spoke the exact wording that he saw from there.

The vampire’s eyes, which were bleeding earlier, had stopped, and it looked towards Cassian in a horrifying glaze. It seemed like the vampire was finally able to understand what Cassian was saying, and this time it skipped the multitasking flaw as soon as he heard his lord’s name. This was very surprising to Cassian, as he didn’t expect this plan to work, but it did.

Something unexpected happened. The vampire stood and came like a flash, exactly in front of him, directly facing him. Cassian’s heart got a jump scare and started to pump hard, but his cold facial expression that he maintained earlier while talking to that creature didn’t change. Cassian was ready to kill him if it tried to attack him this time. The vampire suddenly knelt before him, and a magical sight occurred. Bat-like wings appeared on his back, and the vampire spread them open in front of him. It felt like he was agreeing to Cassian’s terms and conditions, thinking of him as a vampire sent by his lord.

Cassian put one of his palms on his head, and the vampire stood gently. As soon as the vampire stood-

*SLUSH-

A moving arrow sliced the vampire’s head off, and it fell on the ground, bouncing, right in front of Cassian’s eyes. Cassian, with a sudden gasp, kept one of his palms at his mouth after what he witnessed.

"THE VAMPIRE IS DEAD... AHAHAHAH," the same mixed-pitch, loud sound of the fire shadow creature that he heard before started to echo in his ears. Cassian turned himself in panic to watch in every direction; meanwhile, chills were crawling all over his body. He tried to locate the exact direction from which the sound of the fire shadow creature was coming.

A piercing laugh of the fire shadow creature echoed at a very high pitch that started hurting Cassian’s ears, so he kept both of his hands on his ears and pressed them hard. Cassian suddenly sat on the ground with intense panic and fear, and the green glittery blood was all spread in front of him. He suddenly bellowed, "STOP THIS CRAP! YOU ARE JUST A DELUSION. YOU CAN DO NOTHING TO ME! YOU CANNOT EVEN TOUCH ME IN THE SLIGHTEST!"

As soon as he screamed that with all his might, defying his own fear, he knew these were the foul tricks of the fire shadow. The shadow creature fell silent, and the echo of its voice died away.

Cassian began to lose consciousness, slumping onto his back into the pool of that vampire’s blood that was covering the floor. Drenched in the gore, tears fell silently from his eyes as he lost all control over his own body.

Suddenly, he raised his hands, and his mouth opened wide; it was fangs-

He snarled and bit deep into his own flesh with his sharp fangs!
