The Sky Was Never Young: Vampire System Apocalypse

Chapter 13: Deception Within The Danger: The Human Vampire

Scene: Cassius lying unconscious on the ground in a very small, cage-like dark cabin. One of the smoky, dark-red-eyed vampires arrives there with a blue-fire flambeau and a set of torn old cloth in his hand and opens his cage with a key (which is among a bunch of keys). After unlocking it, he enters his cage.

The vampire brought the flambeau close to Cassius to watch him clearly in that dark room.

"Five three zero! Wake up fast. You have to work, and you are still sleeping? What a nonsense vampire", said the vampire to wake Cassius, who was lying unconscious from the moment he got injected with the vampire’s so-called "Life Sacrament".

Cassius gave no response to him. The vampire went near him and opened his mouth by pressing his cheeks hard with one of his hands. Cassius’s sharp and long fangs were visible, and the tip of one of his fangs came in contact with the vampire’s finger, which was pressing both of his cheeks. Still, no response came from Cassius’s side.

The vampire was confused, looking at Cassius. He thought that maybe Cassius wasn’t able to endure the dose that he had earlier gotten from the hands of Madam Florianthum, and considered the possibility of Cassius being dead.

The vampire walked to the entrance of his cage and then started to shout something, "In the name of Lord Vilucious! Vampirian slave number... Five Three Zero... He isn’t responding till now; suspicion of the unalive soul circums-"

Suddenly, the vampire didn’t complete his whole sentence and stopped mid-sentence. The flambeau in his hands suddenly turned off.

The vampire’s eyes widened, and the dark red smoke from his eyes started to come out at a faster rate, as someone used their arm to slam against his throat from behind, and a piece of cloth around his mouth to stop him from speaking. The vampire tried to make a sound, but failed and got a strong, forcible bite of sharp fangs on his neck, which was intensely painful even to look at. After that bite, the vampire’s leg started to tremble, and he dropped heavily onto the cold pavement; also, his assailant’s weight was dragging him down from the top.

A serious and low voice whispered in his ears, "Vampirian slave? Then what- are you- a vampiran dog?"

It was Cassius; he was awake even before the vampire came to check on him. It was all a part of his plan, as he knew screaming out loud and begging for help wouldn’t work in this cruel realm. So, to get out of this cage, he was waiting for the correct time to execute his plan.

The problem was that the vampire was still a bit conscious and was trying to tear the piece of cloth that was forcing him to shut his mouth, as it came in contact with one of his sharp fangs. Cassius knew that he couldn’t miss this opportunity with a single silly mistake. He realized that he always kept a lighter in his pocket, as he wanted his father to quit smoking, so he hid it with him earlier.

The lighter was the one last thing that was left with him, as his father’s memory, for sure; even if he wanted to use it, he wasn’t able to because of the fear of losing the one last thing, which was a souvenir of his father. Yet he was supposed to take advantage of this moment before any other vampire came to the spot. So, forcing his brain to consider the positive results of his actions, Cassius took the lighter out of his pocket and lit it close to the vampire’s face from behind.

As soon as the fire lit just in front of his face, the vampire became breathless and fainted right away. Cassius noticed that he was also not able to breathe properly in the normal yellow fire, which was very weird, so just after the vampire fainted, he turned the lighter off and put it back in his pocket.

"Sh*t", Cassius murmured to himself in a low voice after he heard a footstep approaching his cabin. He noticed that the vampire’s smoky, dark-red eyes were the only thing that was a bit visible in that complete darkness, as the vampire was likely fainted with his eyes open, but the issue was that the smoke in his eyes was vanishing over time.

The footsteps were now clear, and the blue fire flambeau’s reflection came directly into his cabin, making everything clearly visible. Cassius knew if he didn’t do anything, before he came it was over. So, he shouted with a deep, low-pitched voice in the accent of the smoky, dark-red-eyed vampire, "Lord Vilucious’s sake! The slave just opened his eyes; I thought he left his soul, but everything is back to normal!"

He heard him reply, "In the name of Lord Vilucious... who made you assistant general in the first place? Why are you acting like a newbie? Be careful next time". After this, Cassius heard the footsteps fading away, along with the reflection of blue fire flambeau, as the vampire found nothing suspicious and turned back to head away instead of coming towards his cabin.

Cassius felt a bit relieved that the part of his plan worked successfully. He started removing the vampire’s clothes one by one, whom he had knocked earlier. After he removed everything, he put on those clothes and ended up looking exactly like him, but the problem was still to get smoky, dark-red eyes like his.

He carefully placed his clothes in the corner of the cage and dressed the vampire in the set of clothes that the vampire brought for him earlier. He realized that he left the lighter inside his own clothes, so he again went to the corner of the cage to pick the lighter out from there.

When Cassius started to pick up the lighter, a very slow, fumbling voice tried to say something to him: "Vilu- cious- ... you- can’t- esc... you will- die...".

The voice came very low, and the words were so unstable that they made it hard for Cassius to understand in one go. It was the slurred speech of the vampire who was lying on the ground in the cage. He was still not unconscious at full cost and gathered his inner strength to speak back to Cassius.

Cassius slowly approached him and then sat beside the vampire. After that, he kept one of his hands on his chest and said, "It’s not even your mistake; that’s why I am leaving you... I will cure everything, and you will also be fine!"

Cassian’s eyes were always smoky black. However, as soon as he spoke these words like a human who felt deep, soulful sympathy, his eyes returned to a normal human form, emerging from emotions.

Cassius took the bunch of keys in his hands and went straight out of the cage to free the other caged vampires. He went to every caged cabin one by one and noticed different patterns carved on the locks and their specific keys.

He unlocked 4 cabins simultaneously, in which the vampires were still unconscious for real. But as he went towards the 5th cabin in the same row, he got a jump scare, but his face was still serious as he was alert from the beginning for such types of things. The vampire in that cage was standing, holding the cage’s gate, looking directly at him with his completely black eyes. Still, that vampire said nothing.

Cassius broke the silence and said, "Greetings of Vilucious! Step a little backwards; I am supposed to open your cage". The vampire smirked and stepped backwards as soon as he noticed Cassius after he mentioned Vilucious’s name. Cassius opened his cage and moved to the next compartment.

The question was how Cassius still had his human memories, sense of emotion, and multitasking power even after receiving a dose of the syringe medicine?

Well, there’s no answer to the above questions yet, as he also was figuring this out since he woke up, even before the vampire came into his cage earlier. Well! That was a plus point for him if he had anti-immunity built to resist that type of dose.

"Vilucious as my mighty! Respectfully, One Zero Two ... What are you doing?" A voice came from behind Cassius.
