"Where should we go?"
She glanced around the unfamiliar streets.
"I don’t know Elarith very well."
Amon nodded.
"Let’s find a café first. We didn’t even have breakfast because someone was too excited to explore the city."
Scarlett raised an eyebrow.
"Are you complaining?"
"No, ma’am."
"Good."
Amon smiled helplessly.
"Come on. I know a good place nearby."
Scarlett’s amused expression gradually returned to her usual calm, dignified look as she walked beside him.
Despite that, she never released his hand. Several people passing through the street glanced toward her.
It wasn’t particularly surprising.
Scarlett’s striking appearance naturally attracted attention, and with her elegant bearing, most people probably assumed she was a noblewoman.
However, no one made much of a fuss.
Elarith was home to Arcadia Academy, after all. Nobles, wealthy merchants, powerful Awakened, and students from influential families were common sights here.
Amon ignored the occasional glances and happily led his girlfriend through the city.
A short while later, the two sat across from each other inside a cozy café.
Amon had already eaten enough breakfast to recover some of his lost energy.
Scarlett calmly lifted her cup of coffee and took a small sip.
Amon suddenly remembered something.
"Hey, Scarlett."
"Hmm?"
"What exactly did you tell your family before coming here?"
Scarlett lowered her cup.
"I’ve been curious about that for a while, but I never asked."
"Oh, that."
She placed her cup back onto its saucer.
"I told them I wanted to visit the people from island, they established village within Duchess Elizabeth’s territory."
Amon immediately understood.
"Oh! You are smart."
"Yes."
"But they actually allowed you to travel alone?"
Amon frowned.
"You’re the daughter of a Grand Duke, aren’t you? I’d expect your father to send enough guards to protect an entire army."
Scarlett smirked.
"Do you really think I came here without any arrangements?"
"Ah."
"My father contacted Duchess Elizabeth beforehand. House Bloodhart has connections with several major noble families within the human kingdoms."
She picked up her coffee again.
"Duchess Elizabeth arranged my entry and provided escorts after I entered her territory."
Amon nodded slowly.
"That makes more sense."
"Once I arrived, I informed her that I wanted to meet you."
Scarlett took another sip.
"She already knows we’re lovers, so she didn’t question it much."
Amon’s expression brightened.
"Damn. You really planned everything."
"Of course."
"Good, good."
He nodded approvingly before another question suddenly entered his mind.
"Actually... Scarlett."
"What?"
Amon looked toward the sunlight streaming through the café windows.
Then back at her.
"Can vampires normally walk under sunlight? Aren’t you are afraid and weak to sunligt."
Scarlett nearly inhaled her coffee.
"Cough—!"
She quickly lowered the cup.
"What the hell kind of question is that?"
Amon blinked innocently.
"I’m serious!"
"Where did you even hear that?"
’My previous life.’
Obviously, he couldn’t say that.
He had read about vampires after coming to this world, and he knew they generally avoid walking in sunlight. Actually he was not that curious about other race so he never learn about them too deeply.
He had simply never bothered questioning the exact reason.
"Well... vampires prefer darkness, right?"
Scarlett sighed.
"Yes."
"So I thought sunlight might weaken you or something."
Scarlett stared at him as though he’d just asked whether elves would die from touching grass.
"No."
"Oh."
"Vampires generally prefer darker environments. Our senses are naturally suited to them, and excessive brightness can be uncomfortable for some vampires."
She gestured toward the morning sunlight outside.
"But sunlight doesn’t suddenly burn our skin or turn us into ash. Or make us weak. We are still strong in sunlight as we are in darker space."
Amon slowly nodded.
"Ohhh..."
"Yes."
"So that’s how it works."
Scarlett shook her head.
"Sometimes I genuinely wonder where you learn these ridiculous things."
Amon wisely remained silent.
He picked up his drink instead.
A few moments passed before he asked another question.
"So, how long are you planning to stay here?"
"I originally planned to stay for around a week."
Amon smiled.
"But now..."
Scarlett paused.
"I think I’ll return earlier."
Amon’s smile instantly disappeared.
"What?"
He leaned forward.
"Why?"
Scarlett almost laughed at how quickly his expression changed.
"Why are you going back early?"
"Hey."
She reached across the table and lightly tapped his forehead.
"Did you forget about the artifact you have?"
Amon frowned.
"What arti—"
His eyes suddenly widened.
"The teleportation artifact!"
"Exactly."
Scarlett smiled.
"You can register specific locations with it, can’t you?"
"Yes..."
Amon slowly began understanding what she meant.
Scarlett continued, "I’ll take it with m7e when I return to the Vampire Kingdom and register a location there."
Amon’s eyes grew brighter.
"Wait!"
He leaned closer.
"So you’ll take the artifact back with you, register your home, and then use the portal to return here?"
"Yes."
Scarlett paused.
"Although I won’t register my family’s main estate."
"Why not?"
"My father."
That single answer was enough.
Amon immediately understood.
"Ah... right."
"He’s a Mythborn," Scarlett explained. "If an unknown spatial portal suddenly opens inside the Bloodhart estate, there’s a good chance he’ll notice the spatial fluctuations."
Amon imagined the situation. He secretly teleported into Scarlett’s bedroom. Her Mythborn father sensed him.
Amon died.
"Yeah."
He nodded solemnly.
"Let’s not do that."
Scarlett chuckled.
"I own another residence in a different city. I’ll register that mansion instead. There are fewer people around, and I have much more privacy there."
Amon’s exhaustion disappeared almost instantly.
A huge smile spread across his face.
"Hehe~"
Scarlett narrowed her eyes.
"Why are you smiling like that?"
"Because this changes everything!"
He leaned excitedly across the table.
"If we have permanent locations registered in both kingdoms, we won’t have to wait months to meet anymore."
"Exactly."
"I can visit you whenever I have enough free time!"
"Yes."
"And you can come here!"
"Yes."
Amon’s grin grew even wider. Then another realization struck him.
"Wait..."
Scarlett already knew what was coming.
Amon’s black eyes practically sparkled.
"Doesn’t that mean I’ll finally get to visit the Vampire Kingdom?"
Scarlett smiled.
"Of course."
Amon immediately clenched his fist beneath the table.
"Hell yes!"
Scarlett watched his excitement with amusement.
"Just don’t cause trouble when I take you there."
Amon placed a hand over his chest.
"Scarlett, you wound me. When have I ever caused trouble?"
She stared silently at him.
"..."
"..."
Amon slowly lowered his hand.
"Okay."
He picked up his drink.
"Don’t answer that."
