Scarlett stared at him.
Amon grinned.
"If my woman looks beautiful, I’m happy. It’s very simple. "
A faint blush appeared across her cheeks.
"You..."
Scarlett sighed and turned away.
"Sometimes you say surprisingly sweet things."
"Sometimes?"
"Don’t ruin it."
Amon laughed. After paying for everything, the two left the shop carrying several bags.
Scarlett immediately reached for half of them.
"Give me those."
"I can carry them."
"So can I."
"I know."
Amon handed her two bags before taking her free hand. Scarlett looked down at their intertwined fingers.
She put those bags in her storage ring. He saw and felt like idiot and put remaining in his storage ring.
A small smile appeared on her lips.
"Where next?"
Amon looked toward the crowded street.
"You wanted food."
Scarlett’s eyes brightened.
"Right!"
She immediately began pulling him toward the stalls.
"Slow down."
"No. Not today!! It’s my sweet date."
"Scarlett!"
Amon laughed as he allowed himself to be dragged along. They spent the next hour wandering through the market, trying whatever caught Scarlett’s attention.
She bought a grilled meat skewer first. Then some kind of sweet pastry.
Then another.
Amon watched her finish it.
"Didn’t you say vampires mostly drink blood?"
"We can eat normal food."
"I know. I’m just surprised by how much you’re eating."
Scarlett slowly looked toward him.
"Are you saying I eat too much?"
Amon immediately sensed danger.
"Of course not. How could I say such thing?"
"Good. Or you might have to face consequences."
"I would never say something so suicidal."
Scarlett elbowed him lightly.
"Idiot."
Amon laughed.
Eventually, they returned to the bridge from earlier. The afternoon had begun fading into evening. Golden sunlight reflected across the river while the city gradually became illuminated by mana lamps.
Scarlett rested her arms against the railing.
"This was fun."
Amon stood beside her.
"Shopping?"
"Everything was fun. It’s my first time having a proper date with you. And it was nice."
Her eyes followed the flowing water.
"I haven’t wandered around a city like this while having so much fun."
Amon looked at her.
Scarlett turned toward him. "Thank you."
"For what?" He asked her in confusion.
"For today."
Amon smiled. "You don’t need to thank me."
He reached down and took her hand again. "We can do this whenever you want."
Scarlett looked at their hands. Then she leaned closer until her shoulder rested against his.
"I’ll remember that."
Amon gently squeezed her fingers. For several moments, neither spoke. They simply stood together beneath the evening sky, watching the river flow beneath the bridge.
Then Scarlett suddenly smiled.
"By the way..."
"Hm?"
"When you finish your novel, I really do want that first copy."
Amon grinned.
"Of course."
"And if it’s terrible?"
His smile vanished.
Scarlett’s widened.
"I’ll make sure to give you a very detailed review."
"...Maybe Selena should get the first copy."
"Amon!" She coldly looked at him.
"I’m joking!"
Scarlett laughed as Amon pulled her along, and the two disappeared once again into the lively evening streets of Elarith.
---
The evening sun was slowly disappearing beyond the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and crimson.
Amon and Scarlett had spent most of the day exploring Elarith City together. Now, as evening arrived, they had decided to rest in one of the city’s large public parks.
The place was beautiful and peaceful.
Stone pathways wound between carefully maintained gardens filled with colorful flowers. Tall trees swayed gently in the cool breeze, while the distant sound of flowing water came from a small fountain deeper within the park.
Rather than sitting somewhere crowded, Scarlett had chosen a secluded spot beneath a large tree, away from the main pathways.
Amon lay comfortably on the grass with his head resting on Scarlett’s lap.
Her fingers gently moved through his black hair, occasionally brushing against his forehead.
Amon’s eyes were half-closed. He could easily fall asleep like this.
Then Scarlett suddenly spoke.
"Amon, there’s one more important thing I need to tell you."
"Hmm?"
Amon lazily opened his eyes and looked up at her.
"What is it?"
Scarlett’s fingers continued stroking his hair.
"It’s about your class."
That immediately caught his attention.
"My class?"
"Yes."
Scarlett looked directly into his eyes.
"Death Bearer."
Amon’s relaxed expression disappeared. He frowned slightly.
"What about it?"
"According to Cruoris, your class isn’t simply an ordinary death-related class."
Amon remained quiet for a moment. Then he sighed.
"Well... I already figured that much."
He raised one hand and stared at his palm.
"But that’s the problem."
Scarlett tilted her head slightly.
"What do you mean?"
"I’ve had this class for years, Scarlett."
Amon closed his hand into a fist.
"I’ve developed abilities related to shadows, darkness, death... I’ve grown much stronger than before. But even after all this time, I still don’t understand what being a Death Bearer actually means."
His black eyes became thoughtful.
"I know my class is unusual. I can feel it. Sometimes, especially when I’m fighting or killing someone, it feels like there’s something deeper that I haven’t touched yet."
Amon lowered his hand.
"But I haven’t found anything truly noteworthy that explains it."
He sighed.
"I really want to understand it. The class’s true potential... What it represents... And why I awakened it in the first place."
Scarlett quietly listened. Then a faint smile appeared on her face.
"Cruoris said you eventually will."
Amon’s eyes sharpened.
"He did?"
"Yes."
Her fingers gently brushed several strands of hair away from his forehead.
"He said there is no reason for you to desperately search for the answer. When the time comes, you’ll naturally begin to understand what your class truly represents."
Amon stared up at her.
"And then?"
Scarlett’s expression became more serious.
"He said that when you finally understand it..."
She paused.
"...your life might completely change."
Amon’s eyebrows furrowed.
"Change?"
He slowly sat up.
Scarlett’s hand slipped away from his hair as Amon turned to face her properly.
"What exactly does that mean?"
Scarlett hesitated.
Then she answered honestly.
"In simple terms? Your life won’t remain as peaceful as it is now."
Amon became silent.
"Cruoris said your class is something that should not attract attention yet. Because right now..."
Scarlett looked into his black eyes.
"...you’re still weak."
Amon’s eyebrow twitched.
"That hurts."
"I’m being serious."
"I know."
Scarlett continued.
"He said there are beings in this world who would become interested in you if they discovered the true nature of your power. Some might want to kill you. Others might want to use you. And some..."
She paused.
"Might come after you simply because of what you could eventually become."
