The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving
Chapter 102: Countdown Before the Match (2)The next day, Aisha woke up early and headed to school.
The moment she stepped out of the rental flying shuttle, the surrounding students stopped in their tracks and stared at her a little too long. But it was not something she hadn’t already expected.
With her engagement to Prince Soren ending with another spectacle and the revelation of her adoption, Aisha’s name and reputation have started to spread even wider throughout the school.
In just a day, she had become an instant celebrity!
"Look, it’s here."
"Whoa, she really went to school today?"
"If I were in her shoes, I’d transfer schools."
"Do you think transferring schools will make what happened disappear? It’s better if she went to another star system."
"Heh, without that merchant family backing, how will she even move to another planet? They must have already taken the money they gave her!"
Aisha walked as if there was nothing around her. But that didn’t stop anything around her from bursting into another commotion.
Among the crowd was a young man who stood out. Even as he just stood there, dressed in the immaculate uniform dedicated to the Sentinel students, he radiated an aura that made no one dare not look at him.
After what happened yesterday, another person has also returned to school. However, they were more welcomed by the students and were already surrounded by them while praising and trying to please them.
It was Prince Soren!
To think the two main characters of yesterday’s shocking event had arrived and were about to meet again... They couldn’t stop imagining what their reaction would be. They were most excited about what Aisha would do.
However, what they didn’t expect was for the prince to stop talking upon seeing her. Even as the students around him happily discussed his return from the military training, he didn’t respond to them.
What was more shocking was that when Aisha was only a couple of feet away from their group, they heard the prince call her!
"...Aisha. Can we—"
But as if she did not see or hear him, Aisha continued walking.
Soren felt the words he wanted to say stuck in his mouth. He had already expected her to treat him coldly after their engagement was broken, but for her to not even acknowledge him in front of other students?
Honestly, it was irritating.
But he could not do anything about it since there was something he wanted to talk to her about. Soren wanted to know what she and his father talked about when he summoned her to his residence. But even when his mother hinted that she was also curious after seeing Aisha walk out of there, the emperor hadn’t said a word.
Yet that wasn’t what bothered Soren the most. It was the sight of the Association’s Admiral escorting her and walking her out of the imperial hall!
Unfortunately, Aisha did not give him the chance to ask her what her relationship was with an SS-ranked Sentinel.
Soren could only watch her leave with the other students who continued gossiping around.
On her way to the classroom, a counselor stopped Aisha and asked if she had any time to come into her office.
Seeing that it wasn’t time for her class, Aisha agreed. The office was only a minute away from where they were, so they reached it quickly.
"Sit down."
Aisha found a chair and sat down, staring at the counselor who took her seat behind the desk.
"How long has it been since your class demotion?" The counselor did not waste her words and questioned her directly.
"It has been over a week already."
"Over a week... And how was it?"
"It has been good," said Aisha.
"Really?" The counselor didn’t seem to believe her, even expressing her own shock on her face. "I thought you’d at least demand a change of class by now."
Aisha did not understand why she was brought there and inquired directly, which surprised the counselor.
"Well, it’s regarding your improvement since your hospitalization. The school wants to shorten the time to three weeks instead of one month." The counselor showed her a piece of paper that showed Aisha’s grades during her class this past week. "You’ve adapted well enough into your new class, but I’ve noticed your grades have dipped a little bit. If you want to stay as a student in the academy, you have to keep your grades at the top of your class."
It wouldn’t be strange for her grade to decrease slightly since she was not the real Aisha Novalis. Even with the memories she inherited, it was only fragmented pieces, and the things that had already been studied were also scattered into different things.
"I’ll do my best to get good grades from now on," Aisha said.
The counselor nodded in approval. She paused and closed the document. As if remembering something, she looked at Aisha with a gentle smile. "Aisha, I know it’s not very appropriate to tell you this right now, but you see, if you don’t do well in two weeks and when we evaluate your performance later, we really can’t do anything about your situation. So, do your best and try to focus on your studies more."
It was genuine advice to a student who had been involved in unpleasant situations. Though Aisha suspected there was another meaning behind the counselor’s words.
A warning that she might really be expelled if she allowed what happened to her to affect her grades. Truly ruthless and direct.
Nodding her head in agreement, Aisha took her leave. In another minute or so, she reached her classroom and saw that there were already so many students inside.
Vesper, Sabel, and Kane were already in the back of the class, forming their own group and talking when they stopped upon seeing her.
Vesper energetically waved his hand at her, gesturing for her to hurry along to their side.
"Aisha, come here! I’ve got something to share with you!"
"Can you please not shout?" Sabel, as always, complained before greeting Aisha. "You’re here."
Kane nodded his head at her and said, "We were just talking about our match in two days. We’re planning to use our spare time to train at the training field."
Aisha stopped by her table and looked at the three. None of them had mentioned anything about what happened yesterday, which she found endearing. Having to deal with a lot of people who were either curious about what she felt or wanted to see how she would feel humiliated afterward, their consideration of giving her the time to open up to them first was truly reassuring.
Before Aisha could say anything, Vesper said, "Only training at school won’t do anything. We need to focus on training for the entirety of two days. So, I’m proposing we skip school until the match."
It was a plausible plan. With how different their power grid was, training was something they could only do to improve themselves.
"I can’t do that."
"What do you mean?" Kane turned to Aisha when he heard her.
Aisha explained to them about the notice she received from the academy and the conversation she had with the counselor. After hearing this, the three fell silent, and they couldn’t help but feel dejected.
"Ha..." Vesper exhaled. "What bullshit school is this?"
Sabel and Kane nodded as well.
If Aisha skipped a class and that affected her grades or the school took notice of it, it would cause an immediate expulsion for her. She might not even get to fight in their match if that happens.
"I’m fine with training in our spare time. But I really can’t skip my classes." Aisha responded with a slight smile. "Actually, I know a place where we can train after our classes end."
Hearing her say this, the three looked up at her with anticipation.
