The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving

Chapter 4: He Came to Annul Their Engagement

"Is he not afraid he’ll drive me to my death again?"

Aisha chuckled darkly, but her eyes were filled with cold indifference.

Upon hearing her words, Daisy’s back stiffened, and she looked up.

"Sh—should I send him back today as well?" The young maid’s face went pale as a sheet of paper just thinking about what would happen if the prince and her young miss were to meet today.

Her young miss had just recovered and hadn’t shown any extreme behaviors for a few days. She heard about her jumping from the window from the nurse who was assigned to Aisha, and that almost sent Daisy’s soul flying out of her body.

It was also the reason she took her leave to look after her young mistress. To ensure she wouldn’t do anything that could be dangerous to her life.

Thinking about it, wasn’t it the prince who hurt her young miss the most?

Aisha did not know what the young maid was thinking. Usually, she would’ve brushed the prince’s visit off and told the nurse she wouldn’t meet him. Since she was an unstable patient, the hospital allowed her that much authority over whom she wanted to meet.

However, she couldn’t forever avoid meeting the prince.

At present, she was still a student at the Imperial Star Academy. For as long as she was there, the chances of meeting her fiancé were pretty high.

"Since he’s so desperate to see me, summon him here."

Daisy hesitated, but in the end, her young miss’s orders won. Before she turned to leave, she advised Aisha not to put anything that the prince said to her heart and to keep her mind open. Let his words enter her right ear and leave her left ear.

Aisha didn’t expect the young maid’s concern and smiled amusingly. "Just go. Letting him wait this long will only reflect badly on me. After all, he’s still a member of the royal family."

Daisy nodded and quickly left the room.

When she returned, a man was following behind her.

He walked leisurely and with the grace of royalty that matched his upbringing. Before meeting him, Aisha had already known he was a handsome man from the memories she had recently received. He matched the fiancé Aisha was crazy about. Short golden hair with deep-set eyes, high nose, and thick lower lip. His pale skin made a great contrast to the dark-golden fitted uniform, making him appear more otherworldly.

Living with that kind of face, he would definitely charm his way into a lot of people’s hearts. With his stunning appearance and impeccable status as an imperial prince, it would be no wonder that many admired him. That included Aisha Novalis, his fiancée and childhood friend.

Surprisingly, the one who was immune to his looks was the young maid who led him into the room.

Naturally so, Aisha was not affected by him either.

Aisha was more amused by her young maid’s puffed cheeks than by the presence of this man.

"Daisy, serve tea for our guest."

Of course, she didn’t forget to treat a guest properly. Even if he was a detestable kind.

"There’s no need. I will only be here briefly."

Although he had spoken, Daisy did not stop. She went to reheat the pot of tea she served for her young miss and took two teacups from the cabinet. Just as she was about to pour tea into the cups, she heard her young miss instructing her from the bed.

"The tea tastes bitter. Add more sugar."

"Yes, young miss." Daisy didn’t question her and put more sugar in the tea.

Soren frowned at this. He could subtly feel he was being ignored, but Aisha’s offer of a cup of tea didn’t look like it. Besides, for someone so crazy in love with him that she would even hang herself, it was unimaginable that she could ignore him.

"You must have waited long. Please accept the tea as my apology," a voice similar to a nightingale singing entered his ears. Soren wanted to refuse, but hearing that voice and that gentle tone made him unable to refuse.

"Thanks," he stiffly responded and accepted the tea that the young maid gave him. But he didn’t drink immediately. He watched as the young maid gave the other cup to Aisha and waited for her to drink.

It wasn’t his fault for being suspicious of her. After refusing to meet him, she suddenly changed her tune and didn’t even throw a tantrum the moment she saw him.

He could only suspect that she had put something in the tea.

But looking at her calmly sipping from her cup, Soren thought he was thinking too much and also drank from his cup.

Splash!

Soren almost lost his composure and spat out the mouthful of tea in his mouth. But because of his image as a prince, he could only swallow the cloyingly green tea and wipe the corners of his lips with the back of his hand.

Forced to drink something so disgusting and sickeningly sweet, Soren glared at the woman on the bed. However, she didn’t seem to notice his reaction and continued drinking from her own cup.

Seeing her enjoying it, Soren questioned again if she had put something in his cup, while hers was an ordinary tea.

"Don’t worry, Your Highness. I didn’t put poison on your drink." Aisha’s sudden words startled him.

Ashamed that he let his thoughts slip through, Soren’s face turned dark. As a prince, he was trained from a very young age to keep his emotions and expression flawless. He had adhered to this for so many years and only let his real self out when he wanted.

Yet, this brief meeting with Aisha not only embarrassed him but also exposed his true self.

Already in a horrible mood, Soren couldn’t help but speak to her harshly: "It might not be poison. Who knows if you put something else so you can get what you want from me?"

"Between us two, who really wants something from the other?" Aisha scoffed dismissively. Her amber eyes were brimming with silent rage.

It was fine if she was accused of poisoning someone. But being suspected of something else was unacceptable. How could she not be angry? This man came to visit for three consecutive days, but was turned away by her every single time.

If his visit was truly out of concern for Aisha Novalis, she might have considered meeting him the first time.

However, this despicable man came to see her only because he wanted her to sign the engagement annulment papers.

"Your Highness, isn’t this what you want?" Aisha revealed the annulment papers she pulled from under her pillow.
