Chapter 264: Chapter 261: Mei Meimei’s Peculiar Talent
Watching Mei Meimei’s panicky display, Feng Hao was at a loss for whether to laugh or cry. "Don’t worry, you’re not going to die."
"Oh, that’s good then." Mei Meimei instantly calmed down, acting as if nothing had happened. Just then, the effects of the Life Creation Pill kicked in, and a surge of magic energy began to gather around her.
Mei Meimei gasped, covering her mouth. "Ah, I can feel it! I can feel it!"
"Just calm your mind and focus on absorbing it," Feng Hao said with a small smile.
"Okay, okay." With a look of delight, Mei Meimei sat down cross-legged to the side and began to cultivate.
Once Mei Meimei quieted down, the entire training ground fell silent. Feng Hao gave a helpless smile and resumed refining Tier Six Life Creation Pills.
’After swallowing so many Life Creation Pills in one go, Mei Meimei is bound to advance to the sixth rank. When that happens, she’ll need Tier Six Life Creation Pills to improve further. I’ll just prepare them for her now. As for when she takes them, that’s up to her.’
Soon, thanks to Feng Hao’s superb Alchemy Techniques, the Tier Six Life Creation Pills were ready. There were ten in total, enough for two people.
Meanwhile, Mei Meimei was still absorbing the pill’s medicinal power. Her genetic fluctuations had already reached the peak of level fifty-nine, leaving her just one step away from the sixth rank.
’Huh? So Mei Meimei follows the Magic Injury path?’
With some time to spare, Feng Hao used his Crystal Eye to inspect Mei Meimei’s basic data. Although he couldn’t see the specific Magic Injury stats, his analysis told him it had to be the Magic Injury path.
He had always assumed Mei Meimei was a strength-based Combat Mage. He’d never seen her use a Magical Artifact, and she didn’t wear any protective accessories. She showed almost none of the typical characteristics of a Magic Injury Magic Master, but the truth was completely unexpected.
It was common knowledge that most Magic Injury Magic Masters equipped protective accessories. After all, they had an innate advantage in Divine Sense strength, giving them enough of it to support soul pressure starting from the third or fourth rank. In contrast, melee-type Mages like Feng Hao rarely equipped such accessories at low ranks.
In other words, protective accessories were generally exclusive to Magic Injury or Magic-type Mages.
Of course, there were exceptions, such as a melee Mage who awakened a talent that boosted their Divine Sense strength. They could easily equip various protective accessories at low ranks.
But Mei Meimei didn’t have a single protective accessory on her, which was a bit strange.
’Could she be a Gun Magic Master?’ Feng Hao wondered. ’But even a Gun Magic Master would supplement their build with the Perception Root System, right?’
Just as Feng Hao was trying to puzzle it out, Thief Master quietly appeared in the training ground. He glanced at Mei Meimei, who was sitting cross-legged and cultivating, and a faint smile touched his lips. "I knew this girl wouldn’t be able to sit still."
Feng Hao gave a wry smile and then asked, "Teacher, have you taken care of things on your end?"
"Mm," Thief Master nodded with a smile. "That kid Jing Lou is pretty capable. After learning about the monster invasion, he’s already started making preparations with all his might."
"That’s good," Feng Hao said, nodding to himself.
Thief Master glanced at Mei Meimei, his expression calm. "There’s still time. It’s not too late for you to start cultivating after Sanmei makes her breakthrough."
"Okay." Feng Hao nodded in understanding, then asked out of curiosity, "By the way, Teacher, what exactly is Mei Meimei’s cultivation path?"
"You mean Sanmei?" Thief Master’s expression was strange. "That girl doesn’t have a proper cultivation path at all. She has perfectly good talent for a Magic-type Mage, but instead she insists on messing around with guns and cannons. She’s basically turned herself into a freakish hybrid."
"But Gun Magic Masters are pretty good too, aren’t they?" Feng Hao asked, surprised.
"Hmph! It would be fine if she were a normal Gun Magic Master. Other Gun Magic Masters have one or two Magic Energy Weapons at most. But her? She has a whole Spatial Ring full of them. She uses one, tosses it, and the one she tosses explodes."
"What? A whole Spatial Ring full of weapons?" Feng Hao’s expression was incredulous, the corner of his mouth twitching uncontrollably.
Thief Master nodded helplessly, his tone full of disappointment. "That’s right. That girl is just that much of an oddball."
"My god, a whole Spatial Ring full of firearms... What would a fight with her even look like?" Feng Hao marveled, clicking his tongue.
Just as Feng Hao was marveling at the thought, Mei Meimei’s body suddenly erupted with a powerful aura. Catalyzed by the Life Creation Pill, she had officially advanced to a Sixth-rank Mage.
After briefly stabilizing her cultivation, Mei Meimei finally opened her eyes, which were sparkling with excitement. "Wahaha, I’ve finally reached the sixth rank—!"
"Huh? Thief Master, you’re here too?" Upon seeing Thief Master, Mei Meimei immediately fell silent.
Thief Master shot her an annoyed glare and grunted, "So, spill it. What talent did you awaken at the sixth rank?"
"Ice Attribute Enhancement. Each point of Divine Sense increases my Ice Attribute Strength by one point," Mei Meimei answered meekly.
"Great. Now you’ve collected all four attributes," Thief Master said, facepalming.
Feng Hao asked curiously, "What do you mean? Does Fourth Sister have other attribute talents?"
Thief Master gave a bitter smile. "Ever since the third rank, this girl has been awakening nothing but elemental enhancement talents. As of now, she’s managed to collect all four: earth, fire, water, and wind."
"That... sounds pretty strong, doesn’t it?" Feng Hao gulped.
"Strong, my ass! One or two elemental enhancement talents are more than enough. She’s completely wasted two Talent Branches," Thief Master said irritably.
Hearing this, Mei Meimei looked aggrieved. "Why are you blaming me? You’re the one who wouldn’t let me use a Crystal Core to help with my breakthroughs!"
"Not letting you use a Crystal Core was for your own good," Thief Master said, exasperated. "But you just had to be disappointing. What’s the point of awakening so many elemental talents?"
"I didn’t want to, either!" Mei Meimei said, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Sigh... We’ve already come this far. What’s done is done," Thief Master said with a long sigh.
Feng Hao, who had been listening thoughtfully, chimed in, "Actually, I think what Fourth Sister has is pretty good. At least she won’t have to worry about being countered by other attributes."
"Exactly, exactly!" Mei Meimei agreed, puffing out her cheeks. "Xiaowu is still the cutest."
Thief Master rolled his eyes and said irritably, "Go on, get out of here and mind your own business. Don’t disturb Xiaofeng’s cultivation."
"I know," Mei Meimei pouted and walked off to the side.
Feng Hao quickly caught up to her. "Fourth Sister, wait. These are your Tier Six Life Creation Pills. If you can, it’s best to wait until you’re level sixty-five to use them."
"Wow, I absolutely adore you!" Mei Meimei cried out sweetly. She cupped Feng Hao’s cheeks and planted a big SMOOCH on one of them. Without a second thought for his reaction, she grabbed the Life Creation Pills and skipped away happily.
Feng Hao stood frozen on the spot, his face bright red. ’This feeling of being teased by an older girl is just so awkward.’
"Alright, Xiaofeng, head to the Enhanced Cultivation Pod. I’ll act as your Guardian," Thief Master said meaningfully.
Feng Hao snapped out of his embarrassment and subconsciously started walking toward the Enhanced Cultivation Pod. He suddenly stopped and asked, "By the way, Teacher, what did Fourth Sister mean earlier when she said you wouldn’t let her use a Crystal Core to break through?"
Thief Master explained with a faint smile, "It’s nothing complicated. While using a Crystal Core to aid a breakthrough allows you to selectively awaken talents, it can negatively affect the development of your Genetic Tree and create cultivation bottlenecks. There’s also a chance of failure. So, unless it’s absolutely necessary, it’s best not to use one. That goes for you, too."
"I see," Feng Hao nodded in realization.
