Chapter 44: 44. Fire wild boars

Finally, Kai and Keith went on vacation to Keith’s hometown. This morning they were getting ready to leave—just the two of them. Angeline wasn’t coming along because Laura and Jessica would be keeping her company and teaching her a lot of things. Jeny and Peoni would also be taking care of the pavilion. "Let’s rest here for now, young master," said Keith.

They dismounted their horses, and Kai immediately lay down on the vast expanse of grass where they were resting.

Kai stood up, holding five daggers.

"Keith, let me handle this—there are five red wild boars chasing them. Not only are they chasing them, but they’re also firing fireballs, so be careful," said Kai, then he ran toward the fire-shooting wild boar monsters. Judging by their characteristics, this monster should be a B or A-rank.

Since this monster wasn’t as fast as the black fire cow when running, Kai was able to throw his dagger quickly and accurately.

The group of adventurers stopped running and let out a cry of surprise.

Kai jumped down and checked on his prey one by one.

"These are edible," he muttered.

Suddenly, someone hugged Kai from behind, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Waaah! Thank you, little one! You saved us... we couldn’t have fought that many A-rank monsters! We also just found out they shoot fire! Waaah!"

"Young Master!" Keith had arrived, prying Kai away from the girl who was hugging him while crying.

"Check if these five monsters are under the influence of dark magic, Keith. If so, then that dark figure is still following us," said Kai.

Keith nodded, then examined them all. A moment later, he turned to Kai and nodded again, confirming that the five fire boars were indeed moving under the influence of dark magic.

That meant Kai was being followed.

Kai turned around, looking at the group of adventurers who were crying and giving thanks for their safety.

"These monsters are under the influence of dark magic, which is why they attacked you. Now, before we cut them up, have you guys eaten yet? Let’s eat with us first," Kai suggested.

The group of adventurers immediately accepted Kai’s invitation, as they needed a brief rest to recover their energy.

Kai prepared a box of eel rice for each of them, then set out some other snacks.

While eating, they explained that they were indeed hunting monsters they could eat. But their target was the stone bird, which they already knew how to fight.

"But how did you defeat those fire boars? You just threw something, and they fell—even though it looked easy, I know it wasn’t," asked the leader of the adventurer group.
