Chapter 47: 47. Sea monsters

"Are you sure I only need to walk you this far? I’ll walk you closer, so that if anything happens to you, I can—"

Although they were only about two hundred meters away from the massive monster at that moment, fortunately, the two monsters couldn’t detect Kai and Kyle’s presence.

After about ten minutes of battling the two Kraken, he finally managed to defeat them. The two monsters floated to the ocean’s surface.

Kai was relieved, so he started looking for the oyster with the black pearl he wanted.

But it wasn’t just oysters with black pearls—he also found huge lobsters and giant crabs. The size of the crabs reminded Kai of the Alaskan crabs his adoptive parents used to buy back on Earth. Kai himself could only afford them after payday, and even then he had to budget carefully because they were so expensive. By the way, the lobsters were just as big as the crabs.

Kai didn’t know if that was the normal size for lobsters and crabs there, but one thing was for sure: he couldn’t wait to cook and eat them.

After finishing with his catch, Kai returned to the surface so Kyle wouldn’t worry.

"YOUNG MASTER!!!"

Kyle’s terrified scream was the first thing Kai heard at that moment.

"KYLE!!" Kai called back to Kyle, and the young man immediately shouted again—this time out of relief.

As Kai approached the boat, he realized that Kyle was crying.

"Young Master! I was so scared. I thought after you defeated the kraken, you’d drown because you ran out of breath!" said Kyle, crying.

Kai chuckled softly; he was happy to see Kyle worry about him, because this was the first time anyone had cried over him like that.

"Don’t worry, Kyle. I have a pearl candy—it’s a kind of device that lets me breathe underwater," Kai said.

"Oh, you should’ve told me sooner, young master. I was really scared. I almost dove in to save you."

Kai chuckled again, then smiled. "Thanks, Kyle... you know, I’m glad to know someone cares about me."

Kyle fell silent, not understanding why Kai should be happy about something anyone would naturally do. After all, Kaileon was such an extraordinary person—it was impossible for no one to care about him, right?

"Oh!"

Kyle was startled when Kai suddenly placed his catch onto the boat.

"This boat’s still big enough if I bring more lobsters and crabs, right?" Kai asked.

"You like these?" Kyle asked, confused.

Kai nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah! Of course I like them—they’re delicious!"

Kyle laughed, then said, "How about you let another fisherman catch them for you? Because these two crabs and two lobsters are more than enough, even if my family joins you for dinner."

"Haha, you’re right. You wait here; I’ll go get that kraken floating over there—we can eat that too," said Kai, then hurriedly swam toward the kraken. Even so, he knew that Kyle had shown the same strange expression that Keyla had earlier.

"Wait a minute, young master! How do you know if— uh, he probably isn’t listening to me," Kyle grumbled, worried about whether the Kraken was actually edible or not.

Thirty minutes later, all the residents along the coast gathered to witness firsthand the two Kraken that Kaileon had defeated. They were all in an uproar, cheering with joy.

Finally, the monsters that had been plaguing both the residents and other sea creatures were gone. Because whenever those two Kraken were around, the fish population dwindled drastically, preyed upon by the two Kraken.

"Kyle and I are ready to cut up those two Kraken, young master," said Keith.

Kai, who was relaxing on the porch of Keith’s family home, nodded in agreement and gave a thumbs-up.

"Great, Keith! The grill is ready too, right?" asked Kai.

Keith nodded hesitantly, then pointed to his mother, Keyla, and the other girls who were standing by with a large grill.

Kai had already told them how to make the marinade for grilling the meat, so they had prepared it.

Even though they themselves were afraid to try eating kraken. But Kaileon said it was edible.

They trusted Kaileon completely—more than they trusted Count Verdez’s eldest son—as if he were the owner of the place and not Count Verdez.

"All set, young master!"

"Good, but I don’t think we can eat it all, so cut off a small portion to grill first, and give the rest to me to store."

Keith nodded, then obediently carried out his young master’s orders. In truth, he still doubted whether the kraken was actually edible or not.
