Chapter 59: 59. Busy day

Nagisha’s words were certainly not just empty talk. Kai really did have incredible luck in this life, after having previously suffered and been unlucky.

The five people Kai had asked to help him find the experts he wanted arrived that afternoon.

As it happened, that day was actually a day off. Kai had asked all his workers to take a day off on either Saturday or Sunday—just like the maids in the pavilion, who took turns having those two days off. The same went for the eight people he had just recruited.

Kai, who had asked for only five people with no ulterior motives for a special task, didn’t expect them all to show up by noon. He hadn’t even thought they’d arrive that quickly.

Around nine in the morning, Fano arrived with a blacksmith named Ken who also enjoyed making crafts.

Ken had also brought a sample of a craft he really wanted to work on, but he had to suppress that desire deeply because such crafts didn’t sell well anywhere.

When Ken explained that the craft could allow people to travel in a shorter amount of time, Kai realized it was the precursor to a bicycle. When Kai showed Ken a mountain bike—with a very simple design—Ken became very curious and enthusiastic about researching and building it.

Kai gave Ken time for that, provided funding for the research, and let Ken go.

Afterward, Kevin and Chanelle arrived almost simultaneously. They brought along a glass artisan and a wood artisan. This time, neither of them was as passionate or full of ideas as Ken.

Leo, the wood artisan, and San, the glass and gem artisan, could only create things that already existed or had existing examples. Neither of them was actually naturally gifted in those fields, but they had trained themselves to master them.

But Kai had no problem with that.

Kai showed San the glass bottles and glasses, asking him to make something like them, and San said he’d try, but he also said that Kai shouldn’t get his hopes up too high that the results would be as flawless as Kai wanted.

It had never occurred to San that there was such a method—making the molds first.

After San got some new ideas, and Leo figured out how to use the electric drill Kai had given him, they immediately took their leave. Kai gave them money for startup capital, and they said they would do their very best.

Afterward, Yona and Mini arrived. The two girls brought along two young women and one young man—all of whom were former employees at the aristocrats’ restaurant and had cooking experience, just like Peoni.

Kai called them the cooking team and the boutique team.

Because of this, they rarely used sugar in the food served at those restaurants.

"Kaileon! I was just study—oh..." Angeline fell silent after seeing Kaileon lying there with his eyes closed.

Angeline wasn’t sure if Kai was really asleep or not, so she approached him to see if her fiancé was truly asleep or just lying there. It wasn’t like Kai to fall asleep when it had just started to get dark. He hadn’t even had dinner yet.

Angeline sat on the edge of the bed, carefully studying Kaileon’s exhausted face.

Kaileon’s face was very handsome, though not particularly similar to Duke Arslan’s. Angeline thought that perhaps Kaileon’s features were a blend of both his parents’.

As he slept, Kaileon looked like an angel. He slept peacefully.

Suddenly, Angeline remembered what Nagisha had said earlier—when Nagisha had taken her up the mountain to practice magic there.

Nagisha taught Angeline to control the bird monsters that could be seen on the mountain. Angeline never expected that a white bird-of-paradise would be willing to follow her. Although beautiful, the white bird-of-paradise was quite powerful—a Level C monster with high speed that could also attack with beams of light. Angeline made a contract with the monster and said she couldn’t wait to show it to Kaileon.

That’s when Nagisha said something about Kaileon.

"You and Kaileon are alike—you’ve both suffered a lot in the past. If you aren’t strong and remain weak, you won’t be able to be a pillar of support for him. Do you know that Kaileon is being targeted by evil people like the Demon Prince? If you’re weak, you’ll just be a hindrance and a burden," Nagisha said.

So that Angeline wouldn’t be a hindrance and could help Kaileon when he needed her.

Just then, Kaileon’s eyelids suddenly fluttered open, sending Angeline into a panic.

The girl tried to stand up, but Kai pulled her small arm, pulling her into his embrace.

"What did you just say?" Kai asked, his voice beginning to change due to puberty. It had grown deeper than before.

Angeline’s heart was racing uncontrollably, but she was also very happy to be held by Kaileon.

"Well, I..."

"A hindrance?"

Angeline tried to swallow, which felt incredibly difficult.

Kai continued, "Who said you’re holding me back? Don’t you remember that I survived the attack by the black fire cow monster thanks to you?"

Angeline’s mind went blank as Kai cupped her chin, kissed her lips, and then smiled handsomely.

Her heart began to race uncontrollably.

"Kai, I... I..."

"You what?" Kai replied, making Angeline even more nervous.

She shook her head slowly, then closed her eyes as Kai kissed her again—this time, for quite a while.
