The Supreme Village Doctor

Chapter 122 - 123: Arrogant Master Chi

Chapter 122: Chapter 123: Arrogant Master Chi

Soon, they went to find Liu Jinsheng.

Liu Jinsheng, for his part, was a model subordinate. His philosophy was simple: whatever his boss wanted, he’d get it done right.

Li Yang, however, had an idea. He happened to see Xia Lian resting nearby with Xiaomu on her back, so he walked over with two pieces of candy. "Aunt Lian, can I run something by you?"

"You’re my boss. Of course, go ahead," Xia Lian said, her face all smiles.

Now that her debts were paid off and she had a steady job, life was looking up, which was why she seemed so much happier.

"Well, I wanted to ask you... don’t you have a few empty rooms at your place? Some of the fishermen might want to stay here tomorrow, and I was wondering if they could stay at your house."

"Of course!" Xia Lian said. "Yes, that’s no problem at all."

"Great. In that case, how does fifty yuan a night sound?" Li Yang said.

"Huh?" Xia Lian was taken aback. "We’re... charging them for it?"

"Of course we are!" Li Yang was a little exasperated. "These people are coming here as paying customers. We have to charge them. Fifty yuan per room. How does that sound?"

"It’s... of course it’s okay." Xia Lian still couldn’t quite wrap her head around it.

Li Yang chuckled. "Aunt Lian, it’s a deal then. I have to make a trip to Taomu Village tomorrow morning. Once I get the final numbers, I’ll see how many rooms we need and come find you. You can help me get things arranged then, alright?"

"Okay, no problem!"

Li Yang was up early the next morning, and the first thing that happened was a call from Liu Jinsheng.

"Boss, I’ve got the final count. We have about eleven couples staying in the village tonight. They’re all pairs, and three of them are bringing a grandchild. That means we’ll need eleven rooms. Do we have enough? Oh, and I told them the rate is seventy yuan a night, including dinner. They said that’s fine. What do you think?"

"That’s great!" Li Yang said with a smile. "Bring them over. I’ll go arrange the rooms."

"Alright!" Liu Jinsheng said happily.

Li Yang went to the mushroom house and saw that Xia Lian was already there, harvesting mushrooms.

Xia Lian was certainly a capable worker. She kept everything in perfect order, leaving very little for Li Yang to do himself.

"Aunt Lian..." Li Yang began. "So, here’s the situation. We need eleven rooms now. You definitely don’t have that many, so see how many you can spare, then talk to some of the other villagers and ask them to free up some of theirs. For fifty yuan a room, I’m sure they’ll be willing."

"That many!" Xia Lian’s interest was piqued; after all, fifty yuan a night was a good deal. "Alright, I’ll go talk to them now."

"They’re the people who are here for the fishing. When the car arrives, you’ll coordinate with their leader, Liu Jinsheng. He’ll tell you who’s staying over. The first thing they’ll want to do when they arrive is get their rooms sorted, so you’ll need to show them and get them settled. As for the payment, don’t collect any money from them. We’ll handle it on our end and pay you all later. Oh, and you need to provide dinner. We’ll take care of lunch here, understand?"

"I understand, I understand!" Xia Lian said with a smile. "I’ll go talk to them right away. Don’t you worry, I’ll get it done right."

Satisfied, Li Yang nodded and drove straight to Taomu Village.

It was just after eight in the morning when Li Yang arrived.

But as soon as he got there, he noticed the atmosphere was off. There seemed to be a lot of cars parked on the outskirts of the village, and many people were heading in that direction.

Li Yang’s heart sank. ’Something hasn’t gone wrong again, has it?’

He hurriedly drove to Uncle Gui Fa’s house and found a large crowd gathered outside. Inside, a dozen burly men were standing around, while a middle-aged man in his forties sat on a chair with his eyes closed.

Meanwhile, Uncle Gui Fa and Aunt Gui Fa were being held down.

"I’ll ask you one last time. Are you going to find the giant snake or not?" one of the brutes demanded, slapping Uncle Gui Fa’s face.

"You inhuman bastards! You nearly got my wife killed! The hell I’ll help you!" Uncle Gui Fa cursed.

"Beat him to death!" Enraged, the brute raised his hand to strike.

But just then, a rock smashed into his head.

THWACK!

The brute staggered and fell to the ground.

"Dammit, who threw that rock!" The brute scrambled to his feet. Having completely lost face, his expression was murderous as he roared the question.

"I did!" Li Yang strode in from outside and kicked the man square in the chest.

The brute went down again.

"Fuck!" the brute roared, furious at being beaten down again and again. ’Do I have no pride at all?’

He tried to get up, only to find a large foot pinning him to the ground.

"ARGH!" the brute screamed in agony.

Li Yang had planted his other foot on the man’s hand. With a hard grind, he shattered all the bones in his fingers.

"Boss, help me..." he pleaded desperately with the middle-aged man.

At this, the middle-aged man finally opened his eyes.

"Boss, he’s the one who beat us up yesterday!" two of the other brutes immediately said, pointing at Li Yang.

The middle-aged man looked at Li Yang. "You’ve got some nerve. You dare to touch one of my, Master Chi’s, men? Are you looking to die?"
