Chapter 127: Chapter 128: Dumbfounded Chang Lin
Li Yang chuckled. "So that’s a yes, then? I’m off to buy the feed grinders."
"Alright!" Zhou Liyun nodded. "I am pretty busy right now. There’s a lot to do in the vegetable fields, and I’m afraid I can’t handle anything more. If you want to spend money to hire people, I certainly have no objection."
"Great!" Li Yang was delighted. "It’s settled, then. I’ll go order a few more grinders from the supplier, and we’ll take it from there."
"Okay!"
First, Li Yang went to find Li Shunsheng.
"You want those dilapidated old buildings?" Li Shunsheng asked, looking at Li Yang in surprise. "Are you sure?"
"Uncle, I just want to rent it," Li Yang said. "That place has been falling apart for ages anyway. I’ll rent it, fix it up, and turn it into a feed mill. That way, it’s being put to good use, and it’ll bring in a little extra income for the village committee. Right?"
Li Shunsheng nodded. "If you insist, I certainly won’t object."
"Great. Let’s draw up a contract, and I’ll consider the old village committee building rented. I’ll have some people start cleaning the place up tomorrow."
"Alright!"
The old village committee property was quite large, just old and worn down.
They settled on twelve hundred a year, and Li Yang signed a ten-year lease.
After paying Li Shunsheng, Li Yang went to find Brother Xu.
Brother Xu’s construction team was still building Li Yang’s fishing base. They were working fast, and the place was already starting to take shape.
"Brother Xu..." Li Yang came over and offered him a cigarette. "Come with me. I’ve rented the old village committee building to set up a feed mill. I need a favor. Could you take a couple of your guys over there now to see what needs fixing? Patch up whatever’s broken, pave the floor, and give the walls a new coat of paint. Most importantly, check the roof for leaks. I can’t have the building collapsing or my feed getting soaked."
"No problem!" Brother Xu had a good gig here, and Li Yang always treated him well, so he readily agreed. "I’ll get right on it. I won’t hold you up."
"Sounds good!"
With a smile, Li Yang left, hopped in his pickup truck, and headed straight for the city.
This time, he went straight to the shop where he’d bought the previous feed grinder.
He was a familiar customer by now, so it took almost no effort. Li Yang just stated what he needed and quickly picked out three machines.
These weren’t your average household models; they were industrial-grade machines suitable for a small factory.
The three of them together cost sixty-two thousand!
Although the cost stung, Li Yang knew it was a necessary investment, so he paid without too much worry.
Just as he finished paying and was about to head back, he got a call from Shang Hongyun.
"That damn good-for-nothing is here making trouble again! Can you come over and help me?" Shang Hongyun asked frantically.
Li Yang’s temper flared the moment he heard her. "I’ll be right there."
After hanging up, Li Yang sped over to Hidden Dragon Manor.
It was the middle of the dinner rush, and the place was packed.
But a group of people was blocking the entrance to Hidden Dragon Manor, preventing customers from getting inside to eat.
The proprietress was there, saying anxiously, "Chang Lin, have you lost your mind?"
"You bitch! Who the fuck told you you could stop giving me money? And you dare sleep around? Let’s see what you’re going to do now! I’m telling you, my boss is here. Call over that pretty-boy freeloader of yours, and I’ll fucking kill him!" Chang Lin shouted, pointing arrogantly at the proprietress.
Shang Hongyun was so furious she was on the verge of tears. ’What on earth did I do to deserve this? How could I have been so blind as to fall for a man like him?’
Nearby, a man in a suit sat sipping tea, looking completely unconcerned.
’If he hadn’t heard this place did good business, he couldn’t have been bothered to get involved in this mess.’
’But it looked like business really was good—so many customers. If he could get a piece of the action, he could make money just by sitting around. Not a bad idea at all.’
"Chang Lin, if you don’t leave right now, I’m calling the police!" Shang Hongyun said through clenched teeth.
"Go on, call them!" Chang Lin sneered. "You dare call the cops, and I’ll make your life a living hell!"
Shang Hongyun glared at Chang Lin with pure hatred.
’Because of that same threat, she’d given this bastard so much money over the years.’
THUD! Just then, a foot lashed out from behind, kicking Chang Lin squarely in the back.
Caught off guard, Chang Lin stumbled forward and fell flat on his face.
"Motherfucker...!" Chang Lin roared, yelling before he’d even seen who hit him.
But Li Yang stepped forward and sent him flying with another kick.
He landed right in front of the man they called "Big Brother."
"Boss, it’s him!" Chang Lin finally got a clear look and pointed at Li Yang, screaming, "That’s him! Shit, boys, get him! Fucking kill him for me!"
The other thugs instantly moved to stand by Chang Lin’s side.
But when they got a clear look at Li Yang, the men froze. Surprisingly, instead of advancing, they looked scared and began to back away.
SLAP! Chang Lin felt a sharp sting on his cheek as his boss roared, "You motherfucker... Apologize to Big Brother right now!"
’What!’
Chang Lin stood there, completely dumbfounded.
