Chapter 137: Chapter 138: Retribution Has Arrived
"Don’t even try to deny it. You think I’m blind? What’s a grown man like you looking at that for..." Ye Xiu shot him a glare.
"Aunt Xiu, I really wasn’t..." Li Yang was at a loss. He couldn’t explain, and it wasn’t something he could just come out and say.
"Alright, alright, I don’t have the energy to deal with you!" Ye Xiu felt a slight stir in her heart. ’That stuff did look pretty tempting, actually.’ "What have you been running around doing these past few days?"
"Nothing much!" Li Yang finally let out a sigh of relief. "Just business."
"Let me warn you!" Ye Xiu said to him. "Don’t do anything reckless. If you’re going to do business, do it honestly, you understand? We don’t do shady business."
Li Yang understood. He hadn’t visited Ye Xiu much lately, and she knew he was always out and about. This was her being afraid he was getting into trouble.
"Aunt Xiu, how can you say that? I know what’s what." Li Yang grinned, then lowered his voice conspiratorially. "Aunt Xiu, I’m earning money to repair the road. I’ll have enough soon, don’t you worry. I’ll definitely get it fixed before the year is out."
Ye Xiu blushed. "If you can fix it, then go ahead and fix it. Why are you telling me this for..."
"Aunt Xiu, don’t look at that stuff. You don’t need it." Li Yang had clearly seen the fleeting expression on her face. ’She’s a woman, after all. Of course she has needs.’ "You’ve got me."
Ye Xiu couldn’t listen to any more of it and gave him a hard smack on the back. "If you say one more ridiculous thing, I’m washing my hands of you! You’ve gotten completely lawless, haven’t you? Now you even dare to tease your Aunt Xiu, is that it?"
With that, Aunt Xiu hurried away.
’I can’t be around this guy for another second,’ she thought. ’Who knows what kind of trash will come out of that filthy mouth of his.’
Li Yang chuckled to himself, resignedly closed his door, and went home to bed.
...
At Hundred Herbs Hall, He Weiweng was making his usual rounds.
But as he walked, he suddenly felt something was wrong. His leg was starting to ache.
He didn’t pay it much mind at first, thinking he’d just twisted it. But after a few more steps, he collapsed to the ground with a THUD, unable to get up again.
"Boss...!" an employee screamed in terror upon seeing him fall.
"What’s happening to me..." He Weiweng looked utterly shocked.
Many of the doctors at Hundred Herbs Hall rushed over to examine him, but none could figure out what was wrong.
He Weiweng was immediately rushed to the hospital for some scans.
After the scans, the hospital couldn’t provide a diagnosis either, simply telling him to get more rest.
He went home, and by the next day, his worries had begun to ease. But when he woke up that morning, he saw that his right leg had started to rot.
A foul stench hit him right in the nose.
The color drained from He Weiweng’s face. He suddenly remembered what Li Yang had said to him that day.
"Quick... get me to Hidden Dragon Manor! Hurry, to Hidden Dragon Manor!" he shrieked at his family.
Soon enough, they arrived at Hidden Dragon Manor.
When Li Yang got the call from Shang Hongyun, he was a little confused at first.
"It’s that old man who bought our medicinal wine last time. Says his right leg is rotting and he wants you to come take a look." Shang Hongyun’s voice was dripping with schadenfreude. "The old guy is in agony and scared to death. The color of his face is just awful. I mean, what’s going on? How could his leg just start rotting? I have to say, though, I’m thoroughly enjoying the spectacle."
It finally dawned on Li Yang, and he burst out laughing. "Oh, you meant *that* old guy. Just ignore him. I’m busy with village affairs right now. You can tell him to wait."
Then, Li Yang hung up the phone.
Shang Hongyun turned to He Weiweng and said, "Divine Doctor Li says he’s very busy and doesn’t have time right now."
"How dare he!" a young man barked. "My grandfather summons him, and he actually dares to refuse?"
Shang Hongyun just let out a cool laugh.
’Moron!’
"Get out!" Sure enough, He Weiweng roared at his grandson before turning back and saying in a low, pleading voice, "Boss Shang, I was truly in the wrong about what happened before. I am willing to apologize to both you and Divine Doctor Li. But please, tell Divine Doctor Li that I’m already here waiting. I can wait, but I don’t think my leg can... Please, ask him to hurry. Is that possible?"
"You’ll have to wait..." Shang Hongyun was inwardly ecstatic but kept her face deadpan. "I just called him. He’s busy. I’ll try him again when he’s free."
"Alright..." He Weiweng was drowning in regret.
’They’re clearly doing this to me on purpose,’ he thought. ’But my life is in their hands now. What can I do but wait?’
After lunch, Shang Hongyun finally gave in to their constant nagging and called Li Yang again.
"What’s the rush? That old bastard is so arrogant. Let him stew in his pain for a while longer," Li Yang said.
"Alright, that’s enough," Shang Hongyun said, her voice brimming with amusement. "You should see him now. The old man is being so subservient, he does whatever I say. He looks pretty pathetic, to be honest. Just come over and fix him."
Li Yang was a little speechless. "You women are all so soft-hearted. Fine, I’m on my way."
Before long, Li Yang arrived at Hidden Dragon Manor.
