Chapter 36: Chapter 37: Disgusting First Love
Li Yang stepped outside and began to walk around.
After a stroll, he made his way to the first floor.
But just around a nearby corner, he ran into He Hui.
Seeing Li Yang, He Hui’s eyes lit up.
"Li Yang, are you here to see me?"
Li Yang was taken aback; he hadn’t expected to see her here. He quickly smiled and said, "No, I’m here to..."
"Don’t be shy!" He Hui said with a smile, shaking her head. "You must be here for me. I understand how you feel. To be honest, I’ve thought about you a lot over the years, and it just so happens I don’t have a boyfriend right now..."
The implication was obvious.
But a chill ran down Li Yang’s spine.
He Hui’s attitude today was a night-and-day difference from the other day. If anything had happened in between, it was that she had discovered he was the boss of this company.
’So materialistic!’
"He Hui, I think you might be mistaken about something," Li Yang said as an idea came to him.
"Mistaken about what?" He Hui tilted her head, putting on a cute expression. "Are you talking about us? I remember you used to like me a lot... right?"
’I don’t like you anymore! You make me sick!’
Li Yang’s skin crawled. "You might have gotten the wrong idea when you saw me in President Su’s office the other day. Actually, we were talking about me collecting the garbage from here from now on."
"What?" He Hui’s expression changed. "You said it was a partnership—a fifty-fifty split, with one person handling raw materials and the other handling sales..."
"Isn’t that just collecting garbage?" Li Yang nodded. "I sell all the garbage from here. President Su is in charge of the ’raw materials,’ I’m in charge of sales, and then we split it fifty-fifty."
THUMP!
He Hui threw the file in her hand onto the ground and pointed at Li Yang. "I knew it! You’re just a lowly farmer! What right do you have to be in there talking business with President Su? So that’s how it was."
"Huihui, then what you just said..." Li Yang’s heart grew even colder.
"Bah! As if you’re worthy!" He Hui cut him off rudely before he could finish. "Take a good look at yourself! A garbage collector! Oh, right, and a little farmer who supplies vegetables to their hotel, isn’t that it? What are you dreaming of, trying to rekindle things with me? Are you worthy?"
Although he had expected He Hui to show her true colors like this, seeing it firsthand was still chilling.
’How can a person change so much?’
"Who did you say isn’t worthy?" Just then, a pleasant voice, tinged with anger, called out.
"Aunt Rong!" He Hui turned to see Aunt Rong and immediately shook her head. "Aunt Rong, this guy followed me in from outside. He’s a scrap collector, and he’s obviously up to no good..."
But to her surprise, Aunt Rong shot her a cold glance, walked over to Li Yang’s side, and affectionately took his hand. "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine," Li Yang shook his head.
Aunt Rong was furious. She glared at He Hui. "What did you just call him? A scrap collector? Let me tell you, he’s the other boss of our company! You’re completely blind!"
What!
He Hui looked as if she had been struck by lightning and staggered back two steps. "You just said..."
"I was lying to you," Li Yang said lightly. "I wanted to see what kind of person you really are, He Hui. And you’re just as I expected. To tell you the truth, I really am the boss here."
"You!" He Hui just stood there, feeling the world spin around her.
An opportunity had been placed right in front of her, and she had completely failed to grasp it.
"Let’s go. Come to my place for dinner. I’ll make you something delicious," Aunt Rong said, still feeling indignant.
She had heard all the nasty things He Hui had said about Li Yang just now.
She had been furious.
’Who does she think she is, talking about our Li Yang like that?’
If it weren’t for the fact that Li Yang did have some history with her, she would have cursed her out and thrown her out on the spot.
Watching Li Yang and Aunt Rong leave, He Hui was filled with immense regret.
She was certain now. Li Yang was the boss of this company.
’What have I done!’
"These young girls nowadays, what’s wrong with them!" Aunt Rong grumbled in the car, still upset. "So materialistic. What do they even see? Honestly."
Li Yang laughed. "Don’t be angry, Aunt Rong. Let’s go home and have a good discussion about human anatomy."
Aunt Rong was still fuming, but Li Yang’s words nearly made her choke. "You... I’m furious just watching, and you’re not even angry?"
Li Yang nodded. "I am angry... But I bet she’s regretting it right now."
Aunt Rong thought about it and had to agree. She immediately giggled. "Good point, good point. Let’s go home."
Back at the villa, Aunt Rong started cooking for Li Yang.
Li Yang, trying to fill the silence, asked, "Aunt Rong, has your ’relative’ left yet?"
Aunt Rong nearly stumbled. She glared at Li Yang and said, "Your mind is always in the gutter. That’s the only thing you remember, isn’t it?"
"But Aunt Rong is a heroine who always keeps her promises. If you broke your word on my account, I couldn’t live with myself. Right?"
Aunt Rong looked at him. ’This guy is really... shameless!’
"You don’t know shit!" After a moment, Aunt Rong finally huffed. "Nothing good ever comes out of that mouth of yours. Come on, then. If you want to see if my ’relative’ has left, come over here yourself..."
