Chapter 98: Chapter 99: Magical Thought Process
"So, you’re buying our fish cheap and selling them high?" someone asked, finally getting it. They sounded a little unhappy. "Why would we sell them to you, then?"
Li Yang didn’t get angry at all. He just chuckled. "In your hands, these are just ordinary fish, right? But in my hands, they become something special. I’m the one who can make them this delicious, so you’re not losing anything by selling them to me. Besides, you all come here to fish for fun. Selling your catch just means you make a little money back. And most importantly, if you sell your fish to us, we’ll give you a discount whenever you want to buy some of ours to eat. Oh, and I’m opening a resort here soon. You can come eat fish, and I’ll give you 30% off our prices. How does that sound?"
At this, the fishermen grew tempted.
The fish was just too good. And as Li Yang had said, they couldn’t make it taste this delicious themselves.
"I’m in!" someone immediately agreed. "It takes real skill to raise fish to this quality. We don’t have that skill, so it makes sense we don’t get that income."
The more reasonable people in the crowd nodded in agreement.
Soon enough, pretty much everyone had come around to the idea.
"Great!" Li Yang said with a smile. "Then it’s a deal. From now on, when you come here to fish, you’re guaranteed to take home one of the fish you catch. That’s my promise to you!"
"Boss Li, you’re a stand-up guy!" The fishermen were even more delighted and started cheering.
Liu Jinsheng finally understood why Li Yang had asked them to leave a fish with him last time. He was completely floored.
’What a mind...’
’He charters buses to bring them here to fish, collecting a fee for that.’
’Then, he buys their catch, raises the fish for a few more days to ’upgrade’ them, and sells them at a premium, making another profit.’
’The man is a goddamn business genius!’
’He makes money at every single step of the process.’
Liu Jinsheng was utterly impressed. His resolve to be Li Yang’s loyal follower hardened.
By the time the hundred or so fishermen left that evening, Li Yang had bought a total of over three hundred fish from them.
They were of all shapes, sizes, and species.
After paying them, Li Yang was grinning from ear to ear.
He gave Liu Jinsheng his cut and said with a smile, "From now on, you can spread the word that I’m buying fish, understand?"
"Got it, boss!" Liu Jinsheng had fully committed to his role as a loyal follower.
’I’ll do whatever he tells me to do. There’s no way I can outsmart him anyway.’
Zhou Liyun had been watching from the sidelines. She was thrilled to see that the feed was working so well.
"Xiaoyang," Zhou Liyun suggested, "I did some research online. Fish feed isn’t quite the same as chicken feed, after all. I think we should start buying some other ingredients to formulate a proper fish feed. It would probably be better."
Li Yang nodded. "You’re right. We need to get more professional about this. Fish should eat fish food, and chickens should eat chicken feed."
"Okay, you can count on me. I’ll get it done," Zhou Liyun said, her eyes crinkling with a smile.
...
Unseen by them, the fishermen returned home and began talking to their wives.
"You always complain that fishing is just a waste of time, but today I tasted one of their fish! It was incredibly delicious. I’ll take you to try it next time!"
"It really was that good, I’m not kidding. I’ve never had fish that delicious in my entire life. I’m going back in a couple of days to buy one for us."
...
Imperceptibly, the reputation of Bishui Village began to grow.
That evening, two visitors arrived in the village.
"What are you two doing here?" Li Yang asked, surprised to see Zhao Xuechu and Xiao Zhen.
"You think I wanted to come?" Xiao Zhen said bluntly. "I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t worried someone might try to take advantage of Xuechu."
Li Yang was speechless. ’This woman has to be crazy,’ he thought.
But when he looked past her, he froze. Xiao Zhen was holding the leash of a massive German Shepherd.
The dog had the same terrifying presence as Zhou Zong’s.
Li Yang’s gaze hardened.
"Zhenzhen, what are you talking about!" Zhao Xuechu said, exasperated. She could only turn to Li Yang. "I’m so sorry, Mr. Li. I came here today specifically to confirm the supply of your fresh chickens."
"And?" Li Yang asked, tearing his gaze away from the huge dog.
"Business is great, but your chicken supply can’t keep up!" Zhao Xuechu’s face lit up with excitement. "Our quality is so good that we’ve quickly made a name for ourselves. Everyone who’s tried our medicinal stews says they’re fantastic and are genuinely helping with their health issues. So, I was hoping you could help me increase the number of fresh chickens. And maybe expand into other types of meat, too."
"We’re already raising more chickens, but they’ll need some time to grow," Li Yang said earnestly. "Once they’re ready, I can provide a steady supply of fifty per day. Also, in just a few days, I’ll be able to supply you with fish as well."
Zhao Xuechu’s eyes lit up. "Is there any way to get a few more chickens...?"
Li Yang thought for a moment. "It’s possible, but not right away. You’ll have to give me some time."
Having gotten a clear answer, Zhao Xuechu smiled. "That’s fine. I can wait."
