The System Keeps Making Me Do Indecent Missions [BL, R18]
Chapter 114: The Final SensationChapter 114: Chapter 114: The Final Sensation
On the way from the Vance family’s main house to Dominic Vance’s villa, Lucien almost fell asleep several times. It was obvious that just a few minutes ago he could still smile and talk with Mrs. Vance, but now his whole body felt as if all its strength had been drained.
Upon arriving home, Lucien said nothing, only silently took off his shoes, hung his coat on the hook, and went straight up to his room. Dominic Vance stood in the living room, his eyes following Lucien’s back, but he did not ask. He was used to Lucien occasionally retreating into his shell in silence. It was just that this time, that silence seemed much heavier.
Lucien entered the room, closed the door, and slumped down onto the floor next to the bed. He pulled out a crumpled handkerchief from his pocket, the dried bloodstains looking like dark red petals. He had tried to suppress that coughing fit in the car earlier, to the point that his throat still tasted like blood.
Lucien let out a long breath: "So entirely exhausted."
The feeling was even more exhausting than when he was in the real world, unable to walk or stand.
Dominic Vance did not go up to the room immediately but turned into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and took out a bottle of water to drink. His gaze accidentally swept over the sink; this clean and empty feeling made him slightly irritated. Normally, Lucien would very often stand here, his hands nimbly washing the items he had just bought, and then turn around to show off to him what delicious dish Lucien had learned today.
It was just that recently he seemed to rarely see that sight.
Dominic Vance rubbed his forehead, thinking that Lucien was simply bored and did not want to learn cooking anymore. However, when going upstairs and nearing the room, he heard Lucien’s coughs. The coughs were hoarse, suppressed behind the door, as if afraid someone would hear. Dominic Vance stopped in his tracks, hesitating as if he did not know whether to push the door open or not, and finally turned and walked away.
Recently, he and Lucien rarely slept together; he was very busy, and by the time Dominic returned to the room, Lucien had already fallen asleep. Many times he became afraid of making noise and disturbing him, so Dominic Vance went to the guest bedroom to sleep temporarily. Now seeing Lucien coughing like that, Lucien was probably unwell, so he did not enter their shared bedroom either.
The next morning, when Lucien woke up, he saw a warm box of plain porridge on the kitchen counter, and beside it was a small bag of medicine. Inside the bag were cough medicine, fever reducers, and a few packets of effervescent vitamin C.
Seeing him look at the small box of porridge, the maid smiled: "This morning when we arrived, we saw Mr. Vance just returning from buying it outside. He probably needed it so early that he was afraid we would not have time to simmer the porridge."
After the incident of kicking Miles Sinclair out, the servants in this villa were also reorganized; they would not stay here at night but return home, only coming back to work early in the morning. That was why recently Lucien often cooked dinner, as he deliberately let the servants go home earlier.
Lucien held the box of porridge, asked the maid to pour it into a bowl, and then smiled, saying a word of thanks. He obediently sat down to eat the porridge, but after only a few spoonfuls, a wave of nausea hit him; he had to drop the spoon, clutching his stomach and panting. Lucien leaned against the kitchen counter, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. 000 only dared to speak up at this moment, its voice cautious: [Host... your vital signs are dropping rapidly. I advise you to...]
"I know." Lucien cut off its words. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress the pain, then stumbled over to the sofa and lay down. For that entire day, he practically did nothing. The TV was tuned to the news channel, but he could not absorb anything. His mind wandered back to the early days when he first arrived in this world, to Dominic Vance’s cold eyes upon their first meeting, to Mrs. Vance’s broad smile, and to the pot of fish porridge in the kitchen yesterday afternoon. He realized that he had grown attached to this place much more than he thought.
Or perhaps it was because he was reluctant to part with Mrs. Vance, someone who looked so much like his own mother.
The following few days unfolded in a strange rhythm. Lucien tried to maintain a normal facade, but his body worsened day by day. He coughed more and more, and ate less and less. One day he stood in front of the mirror, looking at his pale face and sunken eye sockets, and mocked himself: "Even a ghost has more flesh and blood than I do."
But in front of Dominic Vance, he still smiled, still made jokes, and still asked if Dominic was tired from work today. Acting had become an instinct.
But Dominic Vance was no fool. He noticed that Lucien was getting thinner. Noticed the times Lucien suddenly disappeared into the bathroom, then came back out with a freshly washed face but red eyes. Noticed the nights Lucien tossed and turned, breathing unevenly. He did not ask directly, because he was not used to asking. But he began to do things he had never done before.
One evening, while Lucien was busy in the kitchen intending to reheat some soup, Dominic Vance came home early. He took off his suit jacket, rolled up his dress shirt sleeves, and went straight into the kitchen: "Let me."
Lucien widened his eyes: "You? Do you even know how to turn on the stove?"
He did not answer, merely gently pushing Lucien away from the counter, turning on the stove himself, pouring the soup into the pot, and adjusting the heat. The movements were clumsy, but followed the right procedure. Lucien stood aside watching, his heart pounding. Since when did he learn? Probably from those times standing outside the kitchen door watching him cook.
After eating dinner, Dominic Vance cleared the bowls and washed the dishes again. Lucien sat at the table, resting his chin on his hands, looking: "You would make a good wife too."
He shot Lucien a glance, saying nothing, but the corners of his lips twitched slightly. Lucien laughed, but after laughing for a moment, he coughed again. He hurriedly took a handkerchief to cover his mouth and turned away. When he turned back, the smile had returned, but Dominic Vance clearly saw his trembling fingers as Lucien stuffed the handkerchief into his pocket.
That night, around ten o’clock, Lucien was lying in his room when he heard a knock on the door. Dominic Vance stepped in, holding a glass of warm milk. "Drink this, it will help you sleep."
Lucien took the glass of milk, his fingers touching Dominic’s hand; it was freezing cold. Dominic Vance always had a low body temperature, but tonight he seemed colder. Or it was because Lucien’s own hands were hot. He took a sip; the milk was lightly sweet, warming all the way down to his cramping stomach: "Thank you."
"You have been very strange these past few days."
"Strange how? I am still the same."
"I already told you, I am not a fool to not notice. Tomorrow I will take you to get checked."
Lucien smiled and shook his head: "There is no need, it is just a mild cold. I will get better taking the medicine you bought."
Dominic Vance said nothing more, but his eyes never left him. Finally, he only dropped one sentence: "If you are tired, then rest. Do not force yourself."
Then he returned to the guest bedroom again.
The door closed, Lucien sat blankly on the bed, the warm milk gradually cooling in his hands. 000 resounded again: [Special mission is about to be activated. Condition: Create a memorable night for the male lead before the departure process begins. Reward: 100 bonding points + unlock the final sensation.]
"You always pick the right time, do you not?" Lucien sighed: "Is it because you guys cannot manage this world anymore, right?"
000 was silent for a moment before answering: [Apologies, there was an oversight on our end this time, so we could not build a clear mission and evaluation system. If there had been a system earlier, perhaps you could have escaped from here a few days sooner.]
"Then why are you still forcing me to do the final mission now?"
[It is true that the core mission has been completed, but because the world has continuous bugs, it causes the male lead’s emotions to fluctuate drastically. If the final moment when you leave this world cannot be rationalized, the male lead might go crazy. I mean the kind of completely losing control, causing the world to collapse.]
