The System Keeps Making Me Do Indecent Missions [BL, R18]
Chapter 145: Lingering BreathChapter 145: Chapter 145: Lingering Breath
The posture of the two of them was slightly too close; at the very least, compared to their current relationship, this position was exceedingly private. It was to the point where Lucien could faintly smell the aroma of coffee from Damian’s breath fanning directly against his face. He was momentarily distracted, secretly thinking about the coffee scent, while also feeling thankful that Damian was not addicted to smoking, otherwise he would have gone completely insane. Just the mere thought of a breath reeking of cigarette smoke puffing into his face was already enough to make him feel utterly disgusted.
Right at this moment, 000 jumped out again. [But there are many male leads designed with a bad boy persona who smoke and look incredibly attractive, being loved by a great number of people.]
"Well, is there a segment where they get a lung transplant?"
Lucien retorted with a sharp question, and 000 completely stopped responding to him. Exactly at this moment, a hand lifted his chin with a motion that could not be considered gentle by any means, forcing him to look directly into the eyes of the man standing right in front of him.
Damian’s voice was extremely calm, making it impossible to discern the underlying emotions within. "What do you think? Time and time again you have played your little tricks right in front of me, and now you cannot hold it back any longer? Lucien Sinclair, do not think so highly of yourself."
Lucien’s brain had not yet fully processed the situation due to the brief argument he just had with 000. However, upon hearing the man speak, he reacted incredibly fast, no longer agonizing over what kind of facade he should put up to face Damian, and simply curled his lips. "But I am guessing that the General Manager does have feelings, is that not right?"
"If you did not, then you would not have met me at this specific time today."
Discussing the concept could be done at any given time, could it not? If Damian did not wish to meet in the evening, he could have entirely arranged another time; avoiding Ethan and the others was also a perfectly normal thing to do. Yet Damian chose to meet him, and even acted in such a manner... this posture made it abundantly clear that the man was, at the very least, somewhat moved by him.
Whether it was because he was himself, or because of the system’s influence, either reason was perfectly fine. Regardless of the cause, Damian had already stepped one foot into this trap.
The atmosphere seemed to stagnate for a brief moment, and then Damian suddenly lowered his head, pressing his lips firmly against Lucien’s lips.
The scent of coffee instantly enveloped them, and Lucien’s mind once again drifted into random, wandering thoughts. Out of nowhere, he thought about how there seemed to be those ABO worlds or something similar, where people would carry a specific scent, releasing it to suppress their mates. If Damian existed in that kind of world, his pheromone scent would undoubtedly be this exact aroma of black coffee.
"Ah!"
Perhaps realizing that Lucien was spacing out, the man irritably bit down on Lucien’s lip, causing a sharp flare of pain. Lucien let out a soft moan, parting his mouth slightly. According to standard novel tropes, this kiss could have been pushed into a deep, passionate one at this exact moment, where Damian’s tongue could have slipped inside his mouth to wreak havoc.
Unfortunately, the man made no further moves; this light, fleeting kiss simply stopped right there. Everything halted at a gentle touch of the lips, with the only difference being that the teeth marks left on Lucien’s lower lip were quite distinct. At this moment, for some inexplicable reason, Lucien felt that Damian looked exactly like a complete hooligan.
Because Damian once again lifted his chin, narrowing his eyes slightly. "So, what do you want to do now? Do you want to be my secret lover, or do you want to be a talented employee?"
Did he not look exactly like one of those corporate perverts who spent their entire day thinking about nothing but sleeping with their subordinates? It was truly fortunate that this incredibly handsome face managed to salvage the situation quite a bit.
Lucien smiled so brightly that his eyes curved into crescents, and yielding to Damian’s hand, he tilted his neck up as far as he could, exposing his slender neck and the sharp angle of his jawline. His voice became significantly softer. "In that case..."
His hand trailed along Damian’s arm, sliding onto the man’s body, pushing aside the outer suit jacket to trace slow circles on Damian’s chest through the thin fabric of his dress shirt. "...Could I perhaps be both?"
For some unknown reason, Damian’s expression instantly darkened; he swatted Lucien’s hand away and took a step back to put some distance between them. "You are talented, do not walk down this kind of path; it is a sheer waste of your abilities."
Even though the man pulled away incredibly fast, Lucien still managed to hear Damian’s heavy, lust-tinged breathing the moment his hand had touched the man’s chest. Lucien smiled even brighter; initially, he had thought that the unspeakable afflictions of the male leads in every world would be exactly the same. But looking at Damian’s current state... it seemed that he was quite different from Dominic Vance of the first world.
Consequently, taking advantage of the situation, he stood straight up and took a step forward, arriving right in front of Damian. Lucien’s eyes grew misty and wide as he stared intently at the man standing before him. "But I already said... I want to have both."
"The question I asked you today has absolutely nothing to do with my desire to strive and climb the corporate ladder. As for my true capabilities, I will prove them for everyone to see. But as for you... Damian, I have liked you for a very long time. Everything I have done to get close to you has been purely because of my own personal feelings."
"If that were not the case... why would I need to stay here and endure all these grievances, allowing people to falsely accuse me and steal my rightful position?"
At this moment, he looked at Damian, his eyes seemingly brimming with deep affection, yet also welling up with tears. Drop by drop, the tears slipped down from the corners of his eyes, and then Lucien awkwardly lowered his head, hurriedly wiping away those falling teardrops. He let out a shaky breath, acting as if he were trying to gather his courage. "About this matter... thank you, and I also want to apologize to you, I was a bit too abrupt. Regarding the concept project, I will do my absolute best to perfect it... I mean, if you are still willing to let me stay in the company."
Having finished his piece, Lucien bowed his head to greet the man before turning away, walking off in a dejected and pitiful manner. Damian was completely caught off guard by this rapid succession of actions; appearing as if he had not even had the time to fully process the situation, he hastily reached out and grabbed onto Lucien’s arm.
"Where do you think you are going?"
"I am heading home."
"We are not done talking yet. Who gave you the permission to leave?"
"Ah?" Lucien turned his head back, snapping his gaze up to look at Damian, his eyes carrying a mixture of both astonishment and profound joy.
Seeing this particular expression on the face of the young man standing before him, Damian inexplicably felt his temples throb uncontrollably. The point of physical contact between the two of them transmitted an incredibly strange sensation, causing a slight stirring in his lower body. This undeniable fact made him exceedingly frustrated, and he possessed absolutely no desire for this situation to drag on any longer.
He even felt a faint trace of regret regarding his decision to hold the young man back; had he known better, he would have just let Lucien walk away and be done with it. However, when he caught sight of that specific look in Lucien’s eyes, for some inexplicable reason, he found that he simply could not bear to do so.
Damn it!
Damian began to seriously consider whether he was exactly like what his old friend often said—that suppressing one’s desires for far too long would inevitably lead to massive problems. He aggressively dropped himself heavily into the chair, furrowing his brows as he glared at Lucien. "Speak. Why did you ask that question earlier? No, what I mean is, why are you suddenly saying all of these things today?"
His tone of voice sounded exactly as if the person who had trapped Lucien between his body and the chair, the very person who had taken the initiative to kiss the young man, was not him at all. But Lucien fully understood the situation; perhaps at that specific moment, Damian had been heavily influenced by the magnetic pull of the system’s rewards, which was why he had acted in such a manner.
Yet, Damian’s irritated and grumpy demeanor looked far more like he was furious at his own inability to control himself, rather than being genuinely angry at the young man. Therefore, Lucien pretended to be incredibly conflicted, lowering his head. "Ethan does not seem to like me very much, and I honestly have no idea when I might end up getting fired. I am even less certain whether this current concept project... will actually help me move forward, or if it will only push me out of the company even faster. So... I..."
