Chapter 32: Chapter 32: The Invisible Boundary

The black Maybach rolled smoothly into the basement garage of the magnificent villa. As soon as the engine was turned off, the space inside the car instantly sank into a suffocating, terrifyingly stifling silence.

Dominic decisively pushed the door open and stepped out, walking around to the passenger seat. He did not call the butler or any servants out to receive them. Under the dim lights of the basement, the tall man bent down slightly, personally scooping up the soaking wet, feverish young man into his arms. His firm arms securely embraced the frail, trembling body curled up within them, taking large strides straight upstairs and heading directly into his master bedroom.

It seemed as though Dominic had gradually, truly begun to regard Lucien as his own person. At the very least, he did not merely consider Lucien a plaything used to vent his frustrations. Otherwise, there was no way he would have personally carried him up.

Or else, he would have long since tossed him to the servants to be taken away.

He carried Lucien into the room, carefully stripping off the dirty clothes on his body. The air conditioner in the room was also turned up to ensure he would not catch a cold. Dominic even carefully used a warm towel to wipe his body down, especially his legs. Mud, blood, and glass shards had caused Lucien’s knees to become heavily swollen.

The man furrowed his brows, the movements of his hands could not be called gentle at all, and his strength was still quite rough. It was just that his brows remained deeply knitted together, while his movements became much slower and more careful.

His heaving chest clearly indicated that Dominic was feeling extremely displeased.

Being bullied and wronged to such an extent, he would rather endure humiliation in the freezing rain out on the streets, rather shivering and pulling out each shard of glass by himself, but absolutely refusing to make a single phone call to him?

The twinge of guilty conscience from earlier under the eaves had now mutated, completely transforming into a tyrannical, raging anger. He was infuriated by his stubbornness, infuriated by the invisible boundary that Lucien had deliberately erected between the two of them.

"Mng..." On the bed, Lucien deliriously whimpered. The rising body temperature caused his forehead to be dotted with sweat, his dry lips cracked and peeling. He unconsciously curled himself up, dodging Dominic’s antiseptic gauze, his mouth mumbling amidst his delirium.

"Mom..."

Dominic’s movements slightly halted.

Lucien tightly furrowed his delicate brows, physiological tears seeped from the corners of his eyes as his sobbing voice shattered unconsciously: "Don’t... don’t force me to kneel..."

The man’s hand holding the roll of gauze stiffened mid-air. Dominic silently stared at his pale, bloodless face.

He had clearly only become intimately acquainted with this person for two days, specifically intimately acquainted in bed. Yet now, in his weakest, most desperate moment, Lucien cried out for his mother, Lucien begged those who had trampled upon him in his memories, but absolutely refused to call out the name of the one who could save his life: Dominic.

This fleeting thought allowed a sickening feeling of displeasure to devour the reasoning of a wild beast. This person was clearly right by his side, lying on his bed, moaning and begging for pleasure beneath him, yet deep within his subconscious... Lucien did not trust him in the slightest.

Perhaps it was not only him who saw Lucien as a tool to vent his lust, but Lucien also did not view him as anything necessary to have.

This hateful person clearly said he liked him, so why wasn’t he the only name to appear in Lucien’s mind when facing danger, when being bullied?

The uncomfortable emotions creeping into his heart made Dominic even more frustrated. Of course, he had not been moved to feel any genuine love for this timid boy. The thing causing his displeasure was simply a man’s possessive instinct.

When he learned that this person liked him, his ego had been immensely satisfied. But upon realizing that Lucien’s "like" did not come with absolute worship and reliance, Dominic felt utterly vexed.

And so, a twisted desire began to sprout within him: he wanted to conquer and possess, not just the body, but the entirety of this person’s mind and soul.

[Warning.] The mechanical voice of System 000 suddenly rang out evenly within Lucien’s mind, shattering the tranquil atmosphere: [The target’s dependency level is increasing. However, the host’s mental state is severely declining.]

Amidst the delirious fever, Lucien still retained a slight shred of clarity, replying inwardly: "I know... I won’t die just yet."

Playing with knives would eventually lead to getting cut, he knew he was playing far too high a stakes game. But if he did not push himself down into the abyss, how else could he dig out the heart of that cold-blooded bastard?

...

At midnight, the room was submerged in a silent darkness, with only the dim, sallow glow of a nightlight casting upward from the corner of the room.

Lucien heavily opened his eyes, his mind still dizzy from the fever, his throat as dry as if it were sprinkled with sand. He realized there was a stinging sensation on the back of his hand, resting upon it was an IV drip, trickling drop by drop. The family doctor had probably been called over by Dominic to treat him while he was unconscious.

He cast his gaze around. There was no sign of Dominic, perhaps he had gone out to smoke or take a shower.

In this situation, a normally weak person would call out for someone, would seek warmth. But Lucien’s very first reflex was absolute silence. He lowered his eyes to look at the cumbersome IV drip on his hand, then decisively raised his other hand, yanking the needle straight out of his vein without a single moment of hesitation.

Blood seeped out, dripping onto the mattress, but he ignored it. Lucien gritted his teeth and pushed himself up, his bare, trembling feet touching the freezing wooden floor. Feeling that the gauze bandage on his knee was wrapped a bit too tightly and restricting blood flow, he staggered and clung to the edge of the bed, blindly groping around for the first aid kit to change the dressing himself.

"Clack."

The bedroom door cracked open. Dominic stepped inside, bringing the cold, damp mist from the balcony with him. And the sight that instantly struck his eyes snapped the nerve that was already pulled as taut as a bowstring.

Lucien could not stand steadily, one hand gripping tightly onto the bedside table, the other still bleeding from yanking out the IV needle, as he struggled to bend down and remove the gauze from his knee. It was this image again, this exact same attitude of licking his own wounds, operating under the assumption that he was entirely alone, pushing everyone else completely away.

It was truly enough to drive Dominic utterly insane.

"What the hell are you doing?" Dominic’s voice was hoarse and low, as dangerous as a wild beast preparing to tear apart its prey. He took long strides and lunged forward, forcefully snatching Lucien’s wrist.

Lucien jolted violently, the roll of gauze in his hand fell to the floor as he yanked his hand back, retreating backward in a complete panic. But his legs could not hold his weight, so Lucien tumbled down, yanked forcefully into Dominic’s solid chest.

"I... I’m sorry... I just wanted to loosen the bandage a little..." He frantically explained, his shoulders shrinking back, his evasive gaze not daring to look straight at him.

That fear only caused the flames raging in Dominic’s heart to burn even fiercer. He gripped Lucien’s wrist tightly: "I asked, who told you to do it yourself?"

Lucien lowered his long eyelashes; a teardrop could not be held back and fell onto the back of the man’s hand. He replied with an incredibly soft voice, like a sigh dissipating into the void: "I’m used to it..."

Used to it...

Suddenly, Dominic felt a wave of sheer irritation.

Fuck, this guy had already climbed into his bed, they had already fucked, so why did he constantly have to put on this pitiful appearance that made him so damn frustrated?

Dominic simply could not endure this isolated, resigned, and lowly state of his. He wanted to completely smash it to pieces.

Dominic scooped him right up and threw him roughly onto the bed. Lucien cried out in terror; before he could even push himself up, the tall figure of the man crashed down over him, imprisoning him entirely beneath his shadow.

"I said it already, you don’t need to do things yourself here." he roared.

The atmosphere in the room twisted in an instant. Dominic’s rough hand seized both of Lucien’s slender wrists, violently pinning them tight above his head. He used no foreplay, no caresses. He directly utilized absolute brute force to pry his legs apart.

"Ah... mng... Dominic... don’t... it hurts..." Lucien hiccuped in panic, his body struggling fiercely.
