Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Restraint

Just as Lucien was mentally prepared to end up flat on the floor, someone reached out, grabbed his waist, and pulled him backward.

Instead of his bottom hitting the ground, Lucien’s face smashed into the damp chest of the person in front of him. Lucien could not help but click his tongue in secret; this man was clearly a wealthy heir who sat in an office giving orders all day, so how did Dominic Vance still possess such pectoral muscles? The muscles were incredibly firm, and the impact hurt so much that Lucien thought his nose was about to break.

His mind spun dizzily for a moment before he could regain his composure. Lucien groggily looked up, and his eyes met the sharp, chiseled face of Dominic Vance. The man had just stepped out of the bathroom, wearing nothing but a single towel wrapped around his waist, while drops of water continuously dripped from his black hair and slid down his sculpted chest.

"What do you think you are doing?" Dominic Vance’s brows furrowed tightly, yet surprisingly, his tone was far less harsh than the day before.

Could a dog actually learn how to behave like a human after just one night?

Lucien lowered his voice, the hoarse, sobbing sound resembling the pitiful scratch of a kitten: "Shower... my body is too dirty..."

Dominic Vance cast his eyes down at the paper-white complexion of the person in his arms, entirely unable to suppress the sudden flare of anger: "You cannot even stand properly, and you want to take a shower? Do you want to drown in there?"

"I feel uncomfortable..." Lucien pursed his lips, his eye sockets rimmed with an inflamed red from the fever, as he stubbornly tried to push the man away, though his strength was no different from a mere tickle.

Dominic Vance felt that he ought to just throw this person onto the bed and tell the youth to stop acting like a lunatic. However, for some inexplicable reason, upon seeing Lucien’s reddened eyes that looked entirely like a bullied rabbit, the man found himself incapable of being so rough.

The blue veins on Dominic Vance’s forehead throbbed several times before he finally let out a heavy sigh, slipping his arm under the back of Lucien’s knees and lifting the young man completely off the ground.

"What are you doing... I can walk on my own..." Lucien frantically gripped the man’s broad shoulders.

"How exactly are you going to walk? By crawling in there?" Dominic Vance let out a cold snort, taking long strides to carry the youth straight into the bathroom space that was still clouded with warm steam.

He placed Lucien down to sit on the closed toilet lid, then turned around to turn on the bathtub faucet. The burbling sound of flowing water echoed within the confined space, mingling with the heavy, rapid breathing of the two individuals.

Once the water had been mixed to the perfect warmth, Dominic Vance turned back around. Without saying a single word, his large hand reached out directly, grasping the collar of Lucien’s sleepwear.

"Dominic..." Lucien instinctively shrank back, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Let go, let me do it. What are you hiding? Is there any part of you that I have not seen? I have even tasted every inch of it."

Truly having no sense of shame, daring to say absolutely anything.

Lucien silently cursed this man, yet he still had to put on the act of biting his lip and slowly dropping his guard. The flimsy sleepwear was stripped away by the man, slipping smoothly down from his rounded shoulders.

The very instant Lucien’s bare skin was exposed beneath the bathroom lights, Dominic Vance’s breathing hitched and came to a halt.

Through the hazy mist of steam, what met his eyes was not the magnificent, sensual sight of the previous encounters, but rather a canvas riddled with pure devastation.

Upon that pale, pristine neck was a series of blood-seeping bite marks that had already darkened into bruised purple. The frail shoulders bore the deep imprints of tightly squeezing fingers. Both slender wrists had been restrained to the point of swelling. Beneath the narrow waist lay patches of reddened skin, scraped and irritated from excessive friction. Even on the long, slender calves, there were abrasive scratches from colliding with the edge of the bed during the struggles.

Suddenly, Dominic Vance felt that he did not entirely resemble a human being. The man let out a heavy sigh, the ambiguous, enchanting atmosphere had entirely dissipated before it could even fully manifest. Dominic Vance’s lips twitched, he wanted to voice an apology, but his pride absolutely forbade it.

It was just that looking at these traces felt as though they were silently accusing him. Coupled with Lucien’s obedient face and slightly reddened eyes, the sight only made Dominic Vance feel a deeper sense of guilt.

As for the youth, he seemed completely oblivious to everything, ignoring the vaguely apologetic gaze coming from Dominic Vance. Because his delicate skin felt a slight chill upon touching the damp air, Lucien shivered slightly, then obediently lowered his eyes, allowing Dominic Vance to carry him and place him gently into the basin of warm water.

As the warm currents enveloped the shivering body, Lucien let out a soft, contented exhale. He was obedient to a pitiful extent; he did not cry, nor did he voice a single word of resentment regarding the injuries littering his body.

This specific demeanor only served to make Dominic Vance feel even more uncomfortable.

The man knelt on one knee beside the bathtub, holding the showerhead and meticulously rinsing the water to cleanse every single inch of the youth’s flesh. His movements were incredibly cautious, so gentle that it seemed as though he were wiping down a priceless, profoundly fragile piece of porcelain.

The thick, rising steam blurred their line of sight. Lucien’s eye sockets were flushed red and damp from the surging heat. Too exhausted to sit upright, Lucien instinctively leaned his body slightly forward, his wet hands loosely gripping Dominic Vance’s broad shoulders, allowing the entirety of his limp body’s weight to rest heavily against the man’s chest.

The distance between the two of them was suddenly drawn dangerously close, merely a breath apart.

Dominic Vance slightly lowered his gaze. From his vantage point, what immediately caught his eye was the exquisite collarbone pooling with water, the slender, snow-white neck leaning backward, and... the lips that were pale from fever yet glistening with moisture, parted slightly as they panted for air.

Dominic Vance had to draw in a sharp breath, his nerves seemingly stimulated all over again.

The primordial flame of desire ignited once more, blazing fiercer than ever beneath this fatally ambiguous intimacy. Dominic Vance’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down intensely. His gaze turned as pitch-black as a starving beast, locking ruthlessly onto those soft, water-kissed lips.

He slowly bowed his head; his scalding breath, carrying a violently aggressive fanaticism, brushed directly against Lucien’s face.

Lucien naturally sensed the perilous atmosphere laying siege to him. His eyelashes trembled as his large, round eyes, clouded by a layer of mist, looked up at the man. In the exact moment the man’s lips were mere millimeters away, preparing to crush down upon his own...

"Please do not do it anymore..." The sobbing voice, as faint as the hum of a mosquito, echoed from Lucien. He shrank his neck back slightly, looking up at the man with tear-filled eyes: "It hurts so much..."

The soft, murmuring tone sounded as though he were acting spoiled, yet it was also brimming with such desperate pleading that it made Dominic Vance freeze. His ragged, heavy breaths swept across Lucien’s cheek, bearing a suppression so intense that it felt twisted. The man’s lust-reddened eyes peered deeply into Lucien’s teary eye sockets, and then, he witnessed the frail trembling of the person beneath him.

Dominic Vance let out a low growl from his throat, gritting his teeth as he decisively turned his head away. He truly wanted it, wanted it to the point of driving him entirely mad.

It was just that if he were to pin the youth down and do it again right now, he would truly be worse than a feral dog.

"Just focus on showering, I will not touch you." He ground out every single syllable in a hoarse voice, the blue veins pulsing on his forehead.

It took an immense amount of struggle to finally conclude this mentally torturous bathing session. Dominic Vance used a massive bath towel to wrap Lucien up tightly like a cocoon, scooped him up in his arms, carried him out, and placed him back onto the soft bed.

Lucien had already been drained of his very last drop of strength by the fever. The moment his back touched the mattress, his eyes glued shut, instantly sinking into a profound slumber.

Dominic Vance carefully pulled the blanket up to the youth’s chest before finally intending to turn around and resolve the blazing fire roaring in his lower half.

However, man proposes, but God disposes.

While deep in sleep, Lucien once again instinctively sought out the familiar, warm source of heat. He rolled over, burrowing straight into the empty space right beside Dominic Vance, wrapping his arms around the man’s waist. The small face even gently rubbed against the man’s firm chest to find the absolute most comfortable posture.

The desire that had been suppressed just moments ago now erupted like an active volcano, so potent that it was impossible to hold back. The hard entity beneath his undergarments was swollen to the point of aching, screaming to be released.

Dominic Vance lowered his head to gaze at the young man sleeping so soundly in his embrace. The delicate brows were relaxed, lips parted slightly, entirely lacking the slightest ounce of defense.

He was truly hard, hard to the point of genuine pain.

Yet looking at that pale complexion and a body riddled with injuries, he could not bear it; there was absolutely no way he could reach out and touch this sickly person ever again tonight.

Dominic Vance tilted his neck back toward the ceiling, drawing a breath of freezing air into his lungs, ultimately only able to helplessly spit out a hoarse, deeply frustrated curse: "Fuck..."
