Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Intoxicating Possessiveness

That statement from Dominic was brimming with a sense of possessiveness, as if he wanted to declare that Lucien belonged entirely to him. Playing along, Lucien gazed up at the man, his eyes sparkling with unshed moisture, projecting an image of boundless, lingering attachment.

Everything that Lucien was currently displaying gave Dominic the distinct feeling that this person was like a little canary, securely locked within a golden cage that Dominic himself had forged. This thought made Dominic feel increasingly complacent, amplifying his twisted sense of delight by a significant margin.

Lucien had his hand kept firmly pressed against that broad, solid chest. Beneath the thin fabric of the dress shirt, the man’s heartbeat pounded relentlessly, urgent and powerful like an engine operating far beyond its maximum capacity.

Lucien instinctively wanted to pull his hand back, but Dominic tightly gripped Lucien’s ankle instead, dragging their bodies even closer together by a fraction. He lowered his head, the tip of his nose brushing against Lucien’s, and asked in a deep, low whisper: "Have you felt it clearly? Who it beats for, you must know best of all."

Lucien felt his ears turn entirely crimson, and he hastily lowered his gaze to conceal his apparent panic. Deep down in his mind, however, Lucien remained exceptionally lucid and awake. He pursed his lips slightly, telling himself: "This guy is definitely having an episode of his sick, morbid possessiveness. Typical novel protagonist. The moment he sees something belonging to him being touched by someone else, he goes completely insane like this."

Right at this moment, 000 abruptly surfaced in his consciousness, its mechanical tone carrying a slight hint of gossipy excitement: [Host, the system has just measured the target’s heart rate. Congratulations, his heart rate is exceeding the maximum threshold. If this were a video game, his health bar would undoubtedly be plummeting in freefall all because of you.]

Lucien snapped mentally: "Shut up!"

But Dominic seemed completely unconcerned with Lucien’s silence. He suddenly released Lucien’s hand, but in its place, he reached out to caress the soft strands of Lucien’s hair. Those rough fingers threaded through the locks, gently massaging the scalp, and this strangely tender gesture caused Lucien to shudder involuntarily.

Dominic discovered that he was beginning to grow addicted to this exact sensation. Addicted to the act of embracing the soft, petite figure of Lucien within his arms. He realized that if Lucien showed even the slightest intention of evading him, an unnamed surge of violent frustration would rise within his chest, making him want to crush something into pieces. Yet, whenever this person obediently leaned against his shoulder, allowing him to breathe in the gentle, soothing fragrance from Lucien’s body, all the fiery temper within him seemed to dissipate entirely.

If this feeling could be given a name, it would certainly be akin to the euphoric high found in the depths of severe drug addiction. Dominic seemed addicted to the feeling of being needed by this person, addicted to the way Lucien trembled beneath his touch yet made absolutely no effort to push him away.

"Do your injuries still hurt?" Dominic asked, his voice having lost its previous hostility, replaced instead by a deeply resonant and magnetic warmth.

Lucien gave a slight nod, his small lips parting: "They still sting a little... My knees ache too."

"Let me apply the ointment for you again."

This time around, Lucien was vastly more clear-headed than he had been in the morning. He looked at the tube of medicine in the man’s hand, then glanced down at his own body, which was only partially concealed by a disheveled nightshirt, and a feeling of genuine shame began to well up inside him. He hurriedly pulled at his collar, speaking in a tiny voice: "It has gotten a lot better, I can do it myself..."

Dominic raised an eyebrow, his gaze instantly dropping a few degrees in temperature: "You want to do it yourself and end up tearing the skin even further? Or are you complaining that I am not as skilled at applying medicine as you are?"

Without another word, he did not allow Lucien any room to resist, abruptly sweeping Lucien up into his arms and striding directly into the bathroom. He set Lucien down onto the surface of the freezing stone sink counter. The stark contrast between the icy chill of the stone and the searing heat radiating from Dominic’s palms made Lucien let out a soft, involuntary whimper.

This posture was even more ambiguous and intimate than being in bed; Lucien had his legs forced apart so that Dominic could stand right between them. Because of his injuries and the intense bouts of pleasure from the previous night, his legs were still entirely devoid of strength, causing him to sit unsteadily and instinctively cling tightly to the man’s broad, expansive shoulders.

Dominic used one hand to support Lucien’s slender waist, while his other hand meticulously squeezed some ointment onto his fingertips. Every single time his fingers made contact with the scraped skin, Lucien would tremble slightly, stifled moans slipping out from between his clenched teeth.

The more he saw Lucien clinging to him so desperately, the more Dominic felt the blood boiling through his veins. He deliberately slowed down the movements of his fingers, creating far more friction against that delicate, fragile skin than was medically necessary.

While applying the salve to the shoulder area, Dominic’s scorching breath accidentally brushed past Lucien’s left ear, which was the only ear that could still hear with perfect clarity.

Lucien jolted in profound shock, feeling as though a current of electricity had surged through his entire frame, and he subconsciously shrank his neck back. Dominic paused for a brief moment, narrowing his eyes as he stared intently at Lucien’s earlobe, which was flushing so intensely red it looked as if it might drip blood.

It was exactly as if he had just uncovered a highly novel source of entertainment, one that thoroughly captivated his interest.

He did not let the opportunity slip by, purposely leaning in even closer until his lips were practically grazing Lucien’s ear, and inquired in a low murmur: "Is this spot... exceptionally sensitive?"

The warm, damp breath blowing directly into his ear, accompanied by the man’s seductively hoarse voice, caused Lucien to shudder so violently that he nearly tumbled right off the stone counter. He was so overwhelmingly embarrassed that he wanted nothing more than to find a hole to crawl into and hide, his voice quivering as he pleaded: "Don’t... don’t speak right there..."

He wanted to dodge away, but Dominic was one step faster; the man tightened his grip around Lucien’s waist and forcefully yanked him forward, causing Lucien’s entire body to press flush against his solid chest. He let out a soft chuckle, the deep, rumbling sound vibrating through his ribcage: "What are you hiding from? I am merely applying your medicine."

But Lucien truly had no idea what he looked like at this very moment. He was sick, his face flushed crimson from a fever, his large, round eyes veiled by a hazy layer of mist, coupled with the tiny, kitten-like whimpers escaping his lips due to the pain. Every single minor movement he made, every time he softly begged "A little gentler...", acted like a massively potent aphrodisiac injected directly into Dominic’s brain.

He was driven right to the brink of utter madness.

Dominic discarded the tube of ointment, directly lifting Lucien up in a child-carrying hold, and pinned Lucien’s back against the cold bathroom wall. He leaned down, beginning to press fervent kisses along the curve of the neck and the prominent collarbones.

This time, the kissing no longer carried the brutally invasive nature it had before. Instead, it was excruciatingly slow, blisteringly hot, and overflowing with absolute possessiveness. The tip of his tongue swept over the old bruises, as if seeking to use this method to erase the traumatic marks he had previously inflicted, while simultaneously longing to brand entirely new, indelible traces onto the skin.

Lucien was kissed until his mind went completely blank, his hands unconsciously gripping tightly onto the fabric of Dominic’s shoulders as his small mouth gasped for air.

It was just that at this exact moment, 000 decided to be a nuisance inside his head: [Host, although I greatly desire for you to complete the mission, please pay attention to your physical health. Engaging in excessive sexual intercourse is highly detrimental to your current bodily state.]

"I know..." Lucien practically gnashed his teeth together within his own mind: "I didn’t ask for you to remind me about this."

[I am simply ensuring the safety of your life.]

Dominic sensed the subtle shift in the person held in his arms; the man paused his actions, using his hand to lightly squeeze Lucien’s chin, forcing Lucien to tilt his face upward and look directly into his eyes.

His gaze was bloodshot, saturated with burning lust and a deeply concealed, terrifying insanity. He issued a hoarse, commanding order: "Lucien, from now on, you are never allowed to look at anyone else with that kind of gaze."

Lucien appeared bewildered, his tear-stained eyes peering back at him: "What kind... of gaze?"

Dominic gritted his teeth, his breathing heavy and rugged: "The kind that makes others want to do nothing else but pin you down and fuck you senseless!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, he captured those lips once more, delivering a profound, devouring kiss that seemed hellbent on draining every last ounce of oxygen from the both of them.

That night, after finishing the application of the medicine and coaxing Lucien into a deep slumber, Dominic still did not leave the room. He lay down on the bed, pulling the sleeping figure tightly into his embrace.

Under the dim, ethereal glow of the nightlight, he spent a very long time staring intently at Lucien’s delicate, exquisitely peaceful sleeping face. His fingers affectionately stroked the shell of that highly sensitive left ear.

All of a sudden, he bowed his head, pressing an impossibly gentle kiss against that very earlobe.

Caught within the throes of a dream, Lucien gave a tiny shudder, his long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, before he instinctively burrowed even deeper into the radiating warmth of the man’s chest.

Dominic tightened his encircling arms around his prize, his eyes appearing frighteningly dark within the shadows of the room, harboring an utterly maddening, uncontrollable possessiveness that could no longer be concealed.
