Two Elite Skeleton Warriors burst into the room first, their eerie green Soul Fires flickering in their eye sockets. Their gazes swept over the entire space, from top to bottom, near and far.

Before them was a home laboratory, long since abandoned. There was no trace of anyone having lived there; it was a crude and cluttered space, every corner suggesting it had been deserted in a hurry.

There was no other furniture in the center of the room, just a rickety wooden table pieced together from scraps. Its surface was uneven and a chunk was missing from the edge. It had clearly been cobbled together from discarded household planks and served as the laboratory’s main workbench.

Scattered across the workbench were all sorts of bottles and jars: old glass beverage bottles, discarded plastic medicine vials, and a few dented metal cans. Most of these containers were unlabeled, their sides stained with dried, fluorescent green and dark black residue. The mouths of some still held a crystalline powder.

To one side of the workbench was a pile of polished metal sheets. Scattered nearby were a few bent iron wires and a pair of rust-spotted household scissors, a strand of dried vine fiber still tangled around the blade. These were clearly makeshift tools for cutting and modification.

The wall behind the workbench was bare, without any decoration. Its surface was covered in scratches of varying depths and several dark-brown splotches from corrosive reagents. A few small Fluorescent Vines poked out from a crack in the corner, their leaves squirming slightly—a sight starkly out of place amidst the room’s clutter.

Along the sides of the room were no wardrobes or beds, only a few worn-out cardboard boxes and a peeling metal cabinet. Most of the boxes had collapsed and were filled with shredded paper and discarded plastic fragments.

The metal cabinet’s door hung crookedly from its hinges, with a few electrical wires poking out from the gap. On top sat a broken electric fan, its blades so caked in dust they could no longer turn.

These were the storage cabinets for the lab supplies, so crude it was astounding.

Even more conspicuous were the sheets of paper covered in writing, scattered everywhere—on the floor, the workbench, and the boxes. Some lay flat, others were crumpled into balls, and still others were soaked with reagents and stuck together.

A thick layer of dust covered the papers, obscuring most of the writing. Yet, one could still see their yellowed, brittle edges, a clear sign they had been there for a very long time.

Thankfully, they hadn’t crumbled to dust. It was possible to vaguely make out scrawled handwriting, simple chemical formulas, and a few hasty annotations. This showed that the owner had been conducting various experiments here in a rush.

Beyond that, various modified household objects were scattered in the corners of the room.

A broken rice cooker, its inner pot removed and replaced with coils of wire, had clearly been converted into a simple heating device.

A rusty iron wok with several small holes drilled in its bottom sat next to a plastic tube, likely an apparatus for transporting liquid reagents.

There was also a discarded desk lamp. Its base had been taken apart, the bulb replaced with a small glass test tube—presumably a makeshift light source or reaction vessel.

These appliances and kitchenware, once meant for daily life, had been crudely converted into lab equipment, further highlighting the primitive and hurried nature of this home laboratory.

Seeing this, the Elite Skeleton Warriors wasted no more time. They immediately fanned out and, using their experience, began to collect everything salvageable.

They immediately began the packing process.

The two Skeleton Warriors at the front carefully picked up the scattered papers, shook off the dust, and stacked them neatly. They didn’t miss a single sheet, not even those that were slightly stuck together or had blurred writing due to reagent spills.

When they encountered pages stuck too tightly to be separated, they picked them up as a single block and placed them into an empty nearby cardboard box. Their movements were gentle yet efficient, as if they feared tearing the fragile paper.

Two other Skeleton Warriors were in charge of collecting the lab equipment. They bent down to gather the various jars and bottles from the workbench and the floor, sorting them by size and material. They carefully placed them into cardboard boxes, using scattered scraps of paper to fill the gaps and prevent breakage during transport.

As for the larger pieces of equipment—the modified rice cooker, iron wok, and desk lamp—they worked in pairs. One Warrior would hold an object steady while the other cleaned off dust and vine fragments. Then, they would slowly lift it and place it securely inside the peeling metal cabinet, taking care to conserve space.

Another Skeleton Warrior was dedicated to finding suitable packing containers.

First, it went through the misshapen cardboard boxes in the room, using its Bone Sword to gently pry open the collapsed sections so they could hold items again.

For any boxes that were too damaged to use, it simply dismantled them, saving the intact cardboard pieces for later.

Next, it opened the crooked door of the metal cabinet and cleared out the wires and plastic fragments inside. The emptied cabinet was then used to store the larger, fragile lab equipment and the stacked papers, ensuring every item had a place and would be neither lost nor damaged.

Once all the items had been sorted and packed into the boxes and the metal cabinet, the Skeleton Warriors cut down several thick Fluorescent Vines and dragged them into the room.

These vines were extremely tough, making them perfect for securing the packed items.

They cut the vines into suitable lengths and wrapped them around the filled cardboard boxes, winding them tighter and tighter to ensure the boxes wouldn’t come loose.

For the metal cabinet, they used thicker vines to lash the door shut against the frame. Then, they wound a few more loops around the cabinet’s base to create a makeshift handle for easier transport.

The packing work proceeded in a methodical and orderly fashion.

They checked each box and the metal cabinet repeatedly, confirming that everything was packed and the vine bindings were secure. Not a single piece of paper or a single tool was left behind.

Even the fine crystalline powder on the floor was carefully swept up with paper and poured into a small plastic bottle, thoroughly fulfilling Gu Su’s command to leave not a single thing behind.

Once everything in the room was packed and nothing of value was left, the Elite Skeleton Warriors began to move the items out.

Working in pairs, they first lifted a box full of items and slowly walked it over to the room’s window.

This window wasn’t completely covered by vines, making it a perfect exit route. The wall around the window frame was crumbling, so they used their Shields to protect the box, carefully avoiding sharp debris as they carried it steadily to the ledge.

Then, they tied one end of a long, prepared vine tightly to a box or the metal cabinet and lowered the other end down the side of the building, where the Skeleton Warriors below caught and secured it.

The Skeleton Warriors at the window then slowly paid out the line, using the vine’s resilience to lower the box and cabinet bit by bit. They controlled the speed of descent to prevent collisions or damage to the containers.

While they were busy moving the items, the Ordinary Skeleton Warriors below, who had been cutting vines, noticed the activity. They stopped their work and gathered at the spot where the vine hung, looking up at the window and preparing to receive the cargo.

Just as the transport operation was proceeding smoothly, the White Crow that Gu Su had sent to lure the birds came flapping back.

Hot on its tail were several Peregrine Falcons. They weren’t large, but their wings were sharp and their bodies agile. They flew at incredible speed, and the whoosh of their beating wings was clearly audible.

Several times, they closed in on the White Crow’s tail, their sharp talons nearly grazing its feathers. If the crow had been even a fraction of a second slower, it would have been torn to shreds.

Fortunately, they weren’t far from the building. The White Crow used its agility to put on a burst of speed, diving straight into the building’s interior and shaking off the pursuing Peregrine Falcons.

The Peregrine Falcons, either enraged by the White Crow or drawn by some power within the building, followed without a second thought, rushing inside one after another.

Gu Su, who was watching intently from a safe distance, saw the entire scene unfold. The very moment the Peregrine Falcons flew into the building, he was shocked to see their flight patterns, once so agile, suddenly become bizarre.

They wobbled in mid-air as if drunk, completely losing their sense of direction. The rhythm of their wingbeats became chaotic, devoid of their earlier speed and precision.

At the same time, within the toppled building, several windows suddenly lit up with an eerie, fluorescent green glow. The light was soft yet strange, identical in color to the Fluorescent Vines but much brighter. In the dim environment, the light was particularly Stinging Eyes.

As the faltering Peregrine Falcons neared the building’s walls and the Fluorescent Vines, they began to slow down. It was as if they were being pulled by an invisible force, drawn irresistibly toward the vines coiling around the walls.

Meanwhile, the Fluorescent Vines—which had previously shown no reaction to the Skeleton Warriors’ constant chopping—suddenly seemed to awaken. No longer passive, they began to coil up on their own, forming small vortexes that snaked toward the approaching Peregrine Falcons.

They moved with incredible speed. Before the Peregrine Falcons could react, they were firmly ensnared. The vines constricted tightly. The falcons’ shrill cries could be heard for a brief moment, then there was only silence.

In a few short moments, the Fluorescent Vines slowly unfurled again. The Peregrine Falcons were gone. All that remained was a pile of clean, white bones, which detached from the vines and tumbled slowly to the ground below.

Then, another bizarre scene occurred.

The ground churned slightly, as if something were squirming just beneath the surface. The fallen bones of the Peregrine Falcons were instantly swallowed by the roiling earth, vanishing without a trace, as if they had never been there at all.

Although Gu Su was too far away to see the specific details, he had a good idea of what was happening. He had clearly seen that when the ground churned, it revealed a vast, dense mass of bones buried just beneath the surface, stacked layer upon layer.

’These must be the skeletal remains of prey devoured by the Fluorescent Vines. Who knows how long they’ve been accumulating to create such a horrifying scene.’

Only now did Gu Su fully understand.

It wasn’t that the Fluorescent Vines didn’t react, but that they didn’t react to bone.

Neither the Skeleton Warriors nor the leftover bones of prey could trigger their Attack.

But the moment a living creature came near, they would awaken, bare their vicious fangs, and devour it completely.

A wave of lingering fear washed over Gu Su, and he felt a secret sense of relief.

’Good thing I reacted quickly and retreated in time. I didn’t take a single step further. If I’d been careless for a moment and let that strange music lure me toward the building, I would have ended up just like those Peregrine Falcons—devoured by the vines, just another skeleton in that underground pile.’

"This world truly is filled with danger at every turn."

Gu Su murmured, his brow deeply furrowed as his vigilance returned to its peak. "Who knows what unremarkable place might be a boneyard for millions. One careless mistake, and it’s all over."
