In this critical moment.
No one noticed as Amadeus Yancey’s eyes darkened, his thin lips pressed into a line, his jaw tense. He raised his hand and made a downward gesture: "Take action."
The others didn’t react or understand what was happening.
Only the dull sound of a silenced gunshot was heard.
A blood-red flower exploded on Caryn Zachmann’s chest. She seemed incredulous, her entire body frozen in motion, her eyes wide open.
Then she slowly fell to the ground the next second.
A thud echoed.
No one anticipated such a scene, not even Audrick Zachmann, who instinctively turned back to look in Amadeus Yancey’s direction.
But the typically noble and languid young man, whose lips often curled into a lazy smile, was now surrounded by an aura of murderous coldness.
Audrick’s heart tightened, instinctively shifting his line of sight away, clenching his fists, already realizing what had happened.
Amadeus had long arranged snipers in the vicinity.
He just didn’t want to act with his grandfather and uncle present, unwilling to stimulate the elders.
But Caryn Zachmann was overly confident.
She actually attempted to harm Nathalie Quinlan.
Her reckless action was the reason why Amadeus no longer cared about the Zachmann Family’s reputation. After all, in Amadeus’s eyes, their entire family combined wasn’t as important as Nathalie.
Amadeus tolerated Caryn Zachmann only to give Nathalie face.
"Caryn!" Leonardy Zachmann also snapped out of his initial shock, realizing what had happened, rushing forward regardless.
Caryn Zachmann was already lying in a pool of blood, uncertain if she was dead.
Hendrik Zachmann also hurried forward.
But halfway towards Caryn Zachmann, he paused, looked at the girl nearby, pursed his lips, and said, "You first take grandpa to the hospital."
Nathalie Quinlan seemed surprised that Hendrik Zachmann stopped to care about Mr. Zachmann, raised an eyebrow, responded with a sound, and nodded.
Hendrik Zachmann saw her still bleeding right hand, remained silent for a moment, then said, "And your hand, quickly go to the hospital to check."
Nathalie Quinlan was even more surprised, this time not answering, just glanced at him, retracted her gaze: "My hand is fine."
Hendrik Zachmann responded with a sound, unsure if he believed, as he passed by the girl, he softly said, "Nathalie, about Caryn, I’m sorry."
He seemed uncomfortable apologizing, spoke quickly, walked fast, soon surrounding the fallen Caryn Zachmann with Leonardy Zachmann.
Nathalie Quinlan withdrew her gaze from him, somewhat casually supporting Mr. Zachmann outside, whispering to the elder, "Caryn Zachmann should not be dead."
Ericko Zachmann struggled to support himself standing, trying not to lean entirely on the girl, suddenly hearing the girl softly explaining, slightly stunned, realizing why Nathalie was telling him this, his heart ached, reached out to touch the girl’s hair, whispered: "Her mistakes, whether dead or alive, are consequences she must bear. Don’t take it to heart."
Nathalie Quinlan was prepared for Mr. Zachmann’s blame but didn’t expect the elder would say this to her.
Her steps paused slightly, her gaze darkened yet warmed, responded with a sound, said nothing else, supporting the elder outside: "I’ll take you to the hospital."
"Alfred." Amadeus Yancey called.
Alfred Garland emerged from nowhere, his face wooden, a stern look: "Amadeus, what are your orders."
"You stay behind to handle the aftermath." Amadeus Yancey glanced in Leonardy Zachmann’s direction.
