The Unveiling of Secret Queen
Chapter 2269: Everyone Told Me Pulling Strings Is Useless!Celine Tucker refused to stop.
She understood all too well how serious this was.
If Mr. Zachmann refused to come forward and plead for Caryn Zachmann, her daughter would be finished.
Completely finished.
So Celine Tucker flat-out refused to listen to Leonardy Zachmann trying to stop her and insisted on going to the hospital.
Seeing his daughter like this and his wife like this, then thinking of his elderly father lying in the hospital bed with a deathly pale face, Leonardy Zachmann could no longer suppress the guilt in his heart.
"I told you to stop!"
He yanked Celine Tucker’s hand, raised his hand, and slapped the woman who was still struggling and making a scene across the face.
Celine Tucker was stunned by the slap. She reached up to cover her face, tears streaming down, bit her lip hard, and still wanted to rush to the hospital.
Leonardy Zachmann’s palm was trembling. He closed his eyes, his refined face turning ashen, and no longer stopped her, only raised his voice: "Go, then. Go!"
"The hospital is full of people from the Yancey Family right now. Just try it and see if you can even get in to see Dad!"
"If you don’t go, Nathalie might still not remember all the things Caryn did. You go, and you’ll just be reminding her that Caryn even used her own grandfather as leverage."
"Go!"
"I won’t stop you."
Seeing him with that look of letting her go, Celine Tucker’s legs went weak, she could no longer stand. Through a blur of tears, she looked at Leonardy Zachmann, who was both furious and disappointed, and cried, "Then what about Caryn, what about her? She’s your daughter, the daughter you raised for more than twenty years. You’re just going to stand there and watch her die?"
Leonardy Zachmann’s eyes were bloodshot as he met her gaze and asked, "Then tell me, what am I supposed to do?"
"With the Yancey Family stepping in, what do you think I can possibly do."
Celine Tucker’s lips trembled. "Think of something, anything."
The refined lines of Leonardy Zachmann’s face turned livid as he said in a low voice: "...Even Simon Cadwell spelled it out for me, told me not to bother pulling strings anymore! It’s useless. No one in all of Beijing dares help Caryn Zachmann... You tell me, what can I do?"
"..."
Then this time, Caryn Zachmann was as good as dead!
All strength drained from Celine Tucker in an instant. She could no longer hold herself up, collapsed to the floor, covered her face, and broke down sobbing.
This time, Leonardy Zachmann only stood there quietly watching her. Thinking of how everyone had treated them when he and Hendrik Zachmann rushed to the hospital, he waved his hand in utter dejection and had no energy left to comfort his crying wife.
After crying for a while, Celine Tucker finally stopped, lifted her head, and looked at the middle-aged man with eyes swollen red from crying. Her voice was hoarse as she pleaded in a low tone: "Leonardy, can you make a phone call to Dad?"
Leonardy Zachmann had already gone back to the sofa to sit down, looking utterly defeated. When he heard her, he lifted his head to look at her, but his brows furrowed.
Celine Tucker knew what he wanted to say, and choked out, "Caryn, what about Caryn? She’s only in her twenties, she’s still so young. You can’t just leave her to fend for herself."
"She’s the daughter you’ve doted on the most. You’ve spoiled her for more than twenty years. If you don’t step in, the only road left for her is death."
She begged him bitterly: "Leonardy, just make a phone call to Dad, please?"
The veins on the back of Leonardy Zachmann’s hand bulged. After a long time, he closed his eyes and sighed, saying to Celine Tucker, "Dad is still lying in the hospital. As his son, I don’t have the face to ask him for this."
Celine Tucker opened her mouth, just about to speak.
He picked up the Phone and said, "I’ll make a phone call to Nathalie."
Celine Tucker was not satisfied with this result in her heart.
Nathalie Quinlan’s temperament was like that of a wolf cub. This time, Caryn Zachmann had almost cost the old man his life. With Nathalie’s personality, there was no way she’d let it go just because of one phone call from Leonardy Zachmann.
