The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 2300: Unintentionally Face Slapped

Before she came here, she’d gone to the level-8 laboratory to get a form, scrawled down her name and basic information in bold strokes, and then come over to the office.

"Can I sign up?" Nathalie Quinlan put the form down and asked Orson Saban again.

Orson snapped back to his senses, immediately picked up her registration form and looked it over, a rare smile appearing on his face. "Of course you can."

"You’ve filled in one or two spots wrong on this form. I’ll tell you later—you’ll need to fix them."

"Alright."

Nathalie agreed without hesitation.

The Girl’s rebellious, arrogant look made Zevaney Kingsley clench her fists without realizing it.

She forced herself to endure it, then turned to Nicholas Fuller and said, "Dean, since I meet your requirements, I don’t think there should be any problem with me signing up, right?"

Nicholas hadn’t spoken yet.

Nathalie seemed intrigued. She looked over at her and said, "What requirements?"

Zevaney originally didn’t want to bother with her, but remembering how at Fauna Kitchen, when she ran into Nathalie, Nathalie had given her that Warning, she pressed down her displeasure and spoke coolly: "The conditions the dean announced to the public include having personally published results in an SCI journal."

"Oh?" Nathalie seemed even more interested, her gaze locking onto her. "So you’ve published results in an SCI journal?"

Being stared through like that by her, Zevaney felt an extreme surge of anger, and said with a stiff Smile that didn’t reach her eyes, "Of course I’ve published results."

Nathalie took in the arrogance in her expression, then calmly withdrew her gaze and said to Nicholas, "Since she meets the requirements and is dying to sign up, it’d look bad if we forcefully stopped her. If she goes around outside saying you’re using a double standard, that’d sound awful."

Nathan Garland had just been telling Nicholas earlier that he ’couldn’t use a double standard’, and then he’d been immediately slapped in the Face Slap by reality. His expression was quite ugly, but he didn’t dare jump out and admit he was the one who’d said it.

Nicholas frowned tightly, looking at the Girl, unable to figure out what she was thinking. "You mean..."

"If she wants to sign up, let her sign up. There’ll be tons of people registering anyway; one more doesn’t matter, one less doesn’t matter." The Girl stuffed her hands into the pocket of her hoodie, utterly lazy and casual.

She didn’t bother to avoid Zevaney or Nathan at all when she spoke.

This kind of attitude was what really made people burn.

But Zevaney was planning to use the position of future successor of The First Research Institute to step on Nicholas and climb up; how could she bear to give up this chance.

What if Nicholas dug in his heels and flat-out refused to let her sign up?

So even though she felt Nathalie was looking down on her, humiliating her, she still stubbornly stood where she was and kept her mouth shut.

Nicholas gave her a long look, thinking how for this selection of The First Research Institute’s future heir, Martin and the Hidden Family would also be joining in as Cooperation partners.

He then remembered that just yesterday Nathalie had met with Martin, and that later Martin had even sent him a Message asking specifically about this year’s ’rookie king’ of the institute—clearly, he’d formed a very good impression of Nathalie.

With that, things clicked into place for Nicholas. He said to Orson, "Go ahead and enter their information."

Orson responded, sat down in front of the computer, and Started entering the two of them into the registration system.

During this gap, Nicholas looked back over at Zevaney, his expression indifferent, and only said, "Just leave your registration form there."

"I won’t stop you, but I need to remind you of one thing."

Zevaney looked over, appearing every inch the well-bred lady. "Dean, please."

Nicholas said in a low voice, "What’s yours is yours. What isn’t yours—even if you possess it for a while—doesn’t mean it belongs to you."

What’s stolen never lasts.

If Zevaney kept being this greedy and insatiable, she’d crash and burn sooner or later!
