The Unveiling of Secret Queen
Chapter 2311: Nicholas Fuller’s Unexpected Test QuestionHer tone seemed as if she couldn’t wait to celebrate for Zevaney Kingsley in advance.
Lynn Kingsley heard her mention Zevaney Kingsley’s research achievements during this period, and a flash of cold mockery crossed his face. He remained impassive and perfunctorily bypassed Mrs. Davidson’s words: "Let’s see the results first."
Mrs. Davidson felt awkward, knowing she couldn’t provoke Lynn Kingsley, so she sheepishly sat down again, placing her gaze back on the twenty-odd laboratories across from her without speaking further.
There were quite a few people participating in today’s selection process.
Each of them was an elite.
Harvey Cadorette also met the requirements for the selection; he was one of the twenty candidates.
His laboratory was right next to Nathalie Quinlan, in Laboratory 10.
During the lottery draw, he and Nathalie Quinlan drew their numbers almost simultaneously, and by sheer coincidence, Nathalie Quinlan drew number 9, while his paper ball had number 10 written on it.
These two numbers, neither good nor bad.
Right in the middle.
Generally, even if those doing experiments can’t see the person next to them, they don’t want to be stuck in the middle.
Zevaney Kingsley, on the other hand, had extraordinary luck.
Drew number 1.
To ensure fairness, Nicholas Fuller personally delivered the experiment topics to each person.
The person with number 1 gets the experiment topic first and can get an extra 2-3 minutes to solve the problem compared to those behind them. Although 2-3 minutes may not seem like much, sometimes those extra few minutes can be the key to victory!
So when Zevaney Kingsley received the number 1 draw, many people cast envious glances her way.
Harvey Cadorette felt okay about it.
After drawing the number, he only spoke to Nathalie Quinlan.
He told Nathalie Quinlan to do her best, and that they should both give it their all, then he went to his laboratory, in accordance with the rules, to make preparations.
He knew that he might not necessarily become Nicholas Fuller’s heir, but faced with the opportunity, Harvey Cadorette wanted to give it his all and not leave any regrets for himself.
...
The selection time in the morning arrived.
According to the schedule, Nicholas Fuller started handing out the selection topics from Laboratory 1.
Zevaney Kingsley was the first to receive the paper with the topic. She held her breath as she took the note from Nicholas Fuller, gracefully saying, "Thank you, Director."
Nicholas Fuller did not respond and proceeded to Laboratory 2.
Zevaney Kingsley bit her lip, feeling a bit embarrassed as Nicholas Fuller didn’t acknowledge her in public; however, she thought about it and realized for the sake of fairness, Nicholas Fuller could not speak to anyone.
Her sense of dignity remained intact, and she felt much more comfortable.
She couldn’t wait to return to the lab bench with the paper. She eagerly opened the crumpled paper ball, and upon seeing the flamboyant line of words, along with the contents of the box, her expression visibly turned to shock and panic.
"What did the note say? What’s going on?" Hansel Kingsley arrived too, alongside Nathan Garland.
Naturally, he noticed Zevaney Kingsley’s flustered reaction, his face darkening with a sense of foreboding.
"The person he favors is also in there, Mr. Fuller wouldn’t set a task that’s too difficult, would he?"
Nathan Garland narrowed his eyes, his face equally solemn, anxiously waiting for Zevaney Kingsley to take the item out of the box.
Soon, Zevaney Kingsley took out the item inside, revealing a fist-sized, pitch-black, spherical object.
At first glance, there was no clear understanding of it.
Nathan Garland’s face changed drastically, exclaiming, "It’s actually this topic!"
...
In Laboratory 9.
Nicholas Fuller handed the box and the slip of paper to the girl, who received it politely and glanced down at the box.
She weighed the box in her hands, getting a sense of its heft.
