"Cough... cough..."
Zod tumbled through the air before forcibly bringing his body to a stop. He looked up at Jovian, who was hovering above him.
"Do you want to become this planet’s hero? Do you want this world to sing your praises? Wake up! You’ll never be a hero. To the people of this world, you’re nothing but an alien!"
"I have to admit..."
"You’re right."
To Zod’s complete astonishment, Jovian leisurely flew over and stopped in front of him, nodding slightly in agreement.
"What is that supposed to mean?!"
Now it was Zod’s turn to be confused. He couldn’t understand what Jovian meant.
He had assumed Jovian wanted to become this world’s hero, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case at all.
"You’re right, Zod. No matter what I do, I’ll always be an alien."
"That’s why I never wanted to become this world’s hero."
Jovian hovered in the air, smiling down at him.
"Then what are you doing?! Why are you stopping me?"
Zod frowned deeply.
"I’m merely telling you something, Zod."
"This is my planet. While you’re here, you follow my rules."
Jovian stared at him coldly.
"I don’t care what you want to do."
"I can’t even be bothered to care. But since you’ve come here, you will obey me!"
Jovian stood before Zod, lifted him off the ground with one hand, and wrapped his fingers around his throat.
"Your planet?!"
Zod’s expression darkened.
There were currently two pieces of news, one good and one bad.
The good news was that this young man, who appeared to be one of his own people, had not turned into some naive little fool who flew around the sky in a skintight costume and called himself a superhero.
The bad news was that Jovian was unbelievably domineering and apparently believed in survival of the fittest. In his eyes, only the person with the strongest fist had the right to speak.
In reality, that was how the world worked. The stronger someone was, the more authority they possessed.
However, there was now one extremely serious problem.
Zod’s fist was not as strong as the young man’s.
That meant he, General Zod, was expected to obey someone younger than himself, and that was something he simply could not accept.
"It looks like you’re still unconvinced, Zod."
"That’s fine. You will be."
As Jovian spoke, he tossed Zod away as casually as if he were throwing out a bag of garbage.
"Ugh..."
Zod hadn’t expected him to be so violent. Of course, whenever Jovian could solve a problem with his fists, he had never been interested in wasting his breath.
Boom!
With a thunderous sonic boom, Jovian instantly appeared in front of Zod. He seized him by the throat and carried him toward a nearby river.
"Zod, you need to clear your head."
Jovian grabbed the back of Zod’s skull and plunged his head directly into the river.
"Gurgle... gurgle..."
Zod desperately clawed at his own throat as an endless stream of water poured into his lungs.
Ten minutes later, Jovian finally pulled him out of the river.
"Feeling any clearer now, Zod?"
"You little bastard! How dare you treat me like this?!"
Zod glared at him, his face turning livid. God only knew how much water he had swallowed. A small fish had even managed to swim up one of his nostrils.
"It seems you still don’t understand."
The instant the words left Jovian’s mouth, he hurled Zod into the sky.
"General!"
While Jovian was beating Zod senseless, more than a dozen Kryptonians who had recovered from their injuries flew over and surrounded him.
"Boy, let me teach you something. Power has never been everything in this world!"
After enduring Jovian’s brutal assault, Zod regained control of his body and slowly descended behind his Kryptonian soldiers, roaring furiously at him.
"Hahaha..."
"It seems these people have given you quite a sense of security."
Jovian shook his head. The instant he finished speaking, his body shot forward like an arrow.
Every Kryptonian warrior who dared stand in his path was sent flying.
"Kneel, Zod. Submit to me!"
Jovian grabbed Zod by the throat with one hand and roared in his face.
"I’ll never kneel, you piece of trash!"
Zod glared back at him as scarlet light blazed within his eyes.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk..."
"What a shame, Zod."
"It seems you’ll have to die."
Jovian tightened his grip and violently twisted Zod’s neck.
Crack.
With a faint snapping sound, Zod died in Jovian’s hand.
"No!"
One of Zod’s soldiers roared in anguish after witnessing their general’s brutal execution.
"Listen carefully!"
"I am the one who should be leading you! I am Krypton’s strongest warrior!"
"I am the future of the Kryptonian people!"
After killing Zod, Jovian tossed his body aside like a discarded rag. Scarlet light shimmered in his eyes as he glared at the assembled Kryptonian warriors and roared.
"Now listen closely!"
"Drop your weapons and submit to me!"
"Submit to the future of Krypton!"
The Kryptonian soldiers fell silent.
On one side was the invincible Jovian. On the other was their former leader, the great General Zod. It was a difficult decision, one they couldn’t make quickly.
Of course, that would have been true if Zod were still alive.
As things stood...
"We surrender!"
Zod had brought more than thirty warriors with him. Twenty of them chose to surrender. They had no intention of continuing to fight Jovian and instead pledged their loyalty to him.
Several others planned to leave Earth and seek their fortunes on other planets.
Three warriors remained, however. They were Zod’s most loyal followers, and they intended to challenge Jovian and avenge their general.
"You’ve chosen the worst possible path."
Jovian found their decision rather unfortunate.
"There’s nothing left to say!"
The three warriors, two men and one woman, attacked Jovian simultaneously.
The other Kryptonians retreated into the distance and watched. From their behavior, it seemed that the moment Jovian showed any sign of losing, they would immediately betray him.
"Heh..."
Jovian merely chuckled.
He needed to teach these children what true power looked like.
"Useless."
Facing attacks from three directions, Jovian remained completely calm. He appeared directly in front of the largest and strongest of the three, allowing the warrior’s fist to strike his body.
Bang!
The instant the man’s fist collided with Jovian, every bone in it shattered.
"Goodbye."
Jovian punched the man in the chest.
Blood sprayed through the air like ketchup as Jovian’s hand plunged straight into the Kryptonian warrior’s torso.
With a single punch, he destroyed the man’s heart.
Squelch...
Jovian pulled his arm out of the warrior’s chest, and the towering Kryptonian collapsed onto the ground.
"What?!"
The second warrior was stunned by Jovian’s movements. His body stiffened, and he failed to react in time.
Taking advantage of that brief opening, Jovian flicked the blood coating his hand directly into the man’s face.
"Ugh..."
Blood instantly covered the warrior’s eyes.
By the time he opened them again, the entire world seemed to be spinning. He felt as though he had been launched into the sky.
Then he saw Jovian standing with his fingers pressed together, his hand drenched in blood.
Behind Jovian stood an extremely familiar Headless Horseman, blood still spraying from the severed neck.
"Shit!"
The man managed to curse before his severed head struck the ground and his breathing ceased.
"Now it’s your turn, little girl."
Jovian blurred forward and seized the final warrior’s arm.
She was a beautiful Kryptonian woman with short black hair. She twisted and thrashed, struggling desperately against his grip.
"All right. Now it’s time for you and me to have a talk."
Unfortunately, the woman’s resistance was far too weak to matter. Jovian simply held her hand while the former lieutenant of General Zod struggled with all her strength, unable to do anything to him.
"All of you, follow me back to my tower."
"As for you, heh..."
Still gripping the female lieutenant’s hand, Jovian soared into the sky.
"What are we supposed to do?!"
The Kryptonian warriors stared after Jovian in confusion.
"What else can we do? Follow him!"
Left with no other choice, the warriors flew after Jovian and returned with him to Kent Tower.
"Mr. Jovian, has the situation been handled?"
As soon as Jovian returned, staff members greeted him politely.
"Of course."
"One of them is still a little disobedient, though, so I’m going to have to educate her properly."
Jovian was a man who valued talent. The woman in his grasp was one of the few female Kryptonians, so naturally, he intended to treasure her properly.
"Mr. Jovian..."
"Please don’t forget about your work this afternoon."
The staff member gave the struggling, black-haired Kryptonian woman a knowing look. The meaning in his eyes was obvious.
"Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about work."
"By the way, more people will be arriving shortly. Register all of them when they get here."
After giving his instructions, Jovian carried the Kryptonian woman upstairs and returned to his bedroom.
"You bastard..."
It wasn’t long before furious roars echoed through the room, accompanied by the whistling blasts of heat vision.
Then their fierce battle continued.
Boom!
Soon afterward, two figures burst out of the tower.
They flew to a distant island and resumed their battle.
The entire island trembled violently beneath them.
Elsewhere, not long after the Kryptonians had departed, Lex Luthor arrived at the battlefield.
He took out a specialized device and began collecting the bloodstains scattered across the area. He intended to use the Kryptonian DNA to create super-soldiers belonging to LexCorp.
"Just you wait, Jovian. Your good days are coming to an end!"
Luthor grinned.
He could already picture the superhumans he created destroying Kent Tower.
The world didn’t need so many towering skyscrapers.
One belonging to Lex Luthor was more than enough.
"And then there’s this body..."
Luthor looked at General Zod’s newly deceased corpse, a faint smile forming on his lips.
"A Kryptonian?"
"Heh, heh, heh..."
Luthor had learned a great deal about Kryptonians from Thragg.
He knew that Zod’s corpse could be used to create something extremely interesting.
It would be a special occasion.
Jovian’s very own Doomsday.
"Hahahaha!"
Believing he had finally taken control of everything, Luthor threw back his head and laughed.
"You seem to be in an excellent mood."
Thragg slowly descended from the sky and landed beside Luthor.
"Everything you said we needed has finally been gathered. Of course I’m happy!"
Luthor pointed at General Zod’s corpse with a broad smile.
"There are two more."
"We can create three of them at once. You know Jovian’s strength far surpasses that of an ordinary Kryptonian. A normal Doomsday would be useless against him. We need something stronger."
Thragg tossed the corpses of the two Kryptonian warriors Jovian had killed onto the ground in front of Luthor.
"Wonderful! I knew it..."
"Working with you was the right decision!"
"You truly are the best ally I could ever ask for!"
Luthor stared excitedly at the three Kryptonian corpses before him.
"Don’t celebrate too soon. How many times have we already lost? I can barely remember anymore."
"Can we please do this properly and finish the job this time?"
Thragg was excellent at maintaining his disguise.
Although every failure had actually been caused by problems on his end, he had always managed to manipulate the situation so that it appeared as though Luthor’s side was responsible.
"I understand..."
"There will be absolutely no problems this time!"
Luthor’s expression darkened after hearing Thragg’s criticism.
For years, he had been searching for a way to deal with Jovian. He and Thragg had indeed joined forces against him several times, and on some occasions, they had even pushed Jovian into a desperate situation.
However, without exception, something on Luthor’s side always went wrong at the critical moment.
Luthor had long suspected there was a traitor among his people, but he had never managed to discover who it was.
"Do your best, Luthor."
After speaking, Thragg transformed into a streak of white light and shot into the sky.
"Now it’s time for me to do my part."
Luthor waved his hand.
One helicopter after another descended toward the battlefield.
"Be careful."
"These are my most valuable possessions."
"Whatever you do, don’t damage them!"
Luthor repeatedly emphasized the importance of the corpses to his subordinates.
Meanwhile, after one final release, the entire island sank beneath the waves.
"Do you understand now? Do you understand who the true master of this planet is?"
"Here, I can do whatever I please. You need to understand your position."
Jovian gently stroked the hair of Faora-Ul, General Zod’s female lieutenant, as he spoke softly.
"..."
Faora-Ul said nothing.
She could feel that as long as she remained on this planet, its sun would continue strengthening her body.
It was obvious that Kryptonians who had only just arrived on Earth could never compete with Jovian.
The difference between them was simply a matter of time.
"Excellent. It seems you finally understand."
Jovian nodded in satisfaction.
